Britt @ réception WAS as Nice as ever, a comment which could never apply to a certain manager who spoke a pile of excrement about my being on what she called her "banned" list, which is utter nonsense.
Lying cow.
Place is still falling to pieces, cost was far too high for such a sh*thole, and it's still full of Council funded junkies. Yet again whilst having a smoke outside, a "patron" irritated me so much that I was a hairbreadth away from ripping his effing face off but restrained myself.
It's about time the George reverted to the superb hotel, best in Stoke-on-Trent, that it was when we held a posh wake after my coal miner Uncle Jack's funeral at St Saviour's 30 odd yrs ago. It has now changed into such an awful place that the wallpaper from 30 yrs back is now held up by blu-tack and drawing pins, the top class restaurant, kitchens and bar now closed. At least its the closest doss house to Vale Park.
GET THOSE INSULTING PRICES LOWERED AND FFS MAKE IT CLEANER, REDECORATED AND MORE PLEASANT. Also I would love to see THAT woman disciplined for her attitude, which is not what one expects from my Mother Town of Burslem.

Absolutely nothing to like about this hotel. Disgusting, dirty, stinks
Well where do i start. We stayed here a few years back and it wernt a bad place. How ever this time round how shocked were we. The place smells really bad. Needs a good clean. Absolutely disgusting I would avoid this place at all costs. As for wanting us to leave our room key when we left the building (we didn't leave it). Its just so unprofessional. Really don't know how this place is still operational should be shut down.

Nothing
It was dirty the room we stayed in was not cleaned prior to us arriving. When we requested another clean room, there were none available. My family and I were then placed in a room with no working lights. The hotel is filthy from top to bottom, the carpets in the hallway had stains and rubbish on the floors, the place stinks of cigarettes, the room floors were sticky and the bathrooms had black mold everywhere

The parking was easy, free and OK
Where do I start! The hotel looked like a squat with carpets worn to a thread and wallpaper hanging off the walls. In my room I found old packets of crisps scattered around and the promised wi-fi was unavailable. Not sure if the TV worked or not....... but I couldn't get it working! To my mind the room, especially the bathroom, was unclean and on a cursory examination I felt grubby! In fairness I stayed only 10 minutes before deciding that life was too short to stay in such a dump and I checked out.
The hotel owners, responding to my complaints have said the property manager has verified that everything was alright.........so I guess that means I am lying. Hey ho.

There was nothing I like.
The hotel is obviously a very old one with no regular maintenance carried out. The rugs are all old, tacky, smelly and torn; a lot of the wall papers on the wall are torn and the part that had no wallpaper had (Mould) on it. There was no fan in any of the rooms we used let alone air conditional, the rooms were not properly cleaned, the bathroom in my room had used shaving sticks on the floor, no hand wash soap or bath soap. My sisters and brothers' room had no light bulb, they literally were using the mobile phone light. The female receptionist was not only unhelpful, she was so so so rude, no manager or any other staff to complain to. It was very shocking and disappointing for the price we were charged and also that booking.com or any other hotel site would advertise that kind of hotel to people. Honestly, I have never seen anything like it before nor did I imagine that there will be such in this part of the world.

Nothing
Dirty , my 7 month old son walked through fag ash from the stayers before, landings need hoovering, the general tidiness of the hotel was disgusting , we checked in and checked out within an hour. I asked for a refund and still no response. I did not want to leave this review but they’ve left me no choice

How friendly and welcoming the staff are. They do the little things like remembering your name when you come back!
That I haven’t seen the bar or restaurant open. I have physically been through both areas a few times though. Great spaces. LOvE the Ballroom/function room.

The 1 first staff member I saw was so cand and polite, there's clean towels and bedding and there was shower gel in the room and tea and coffee and sugar and there is an iron 😁
Dust still on the floor, shower didn't work properly, the don't fully work, windows are rotted so cold gets in,the light switch for the bed lamps are behind the dig head bord the one lamp didn't have a bulb in it, wall paper falling of the walls.

The architecture inside and out. And the potential it has to be The Best Hotel in Burslem! All the staff I met (including Candy/Kandy the Dog!) and other guests I interacted with were very friendly.
That it hasn’t been loved for a while.

The George Hotel cancelled my booking and still haven't reimbursed me. OYO are cheats and Booking.com are useless.
Email to prove OYO cancelled the booking and still waiting for my refund. endless promises from Booking.com and OYO!

the door on the way out
not enough space, scruffy, dirty, whole place needs a deep clean and a refurb, no excuse!
stoke council put the homeless and local druggies in the place, not even the illegal immigrants will stay.
second thoughts pull the place down

On arrival to the hotel, bedrooms looked nothing like in photos, bedrooms smelt strongly of cigarettes, toilet seat was broken hanging off, shower ceiling had mould everywhere, hair dryer did not work, TV did not work, heating can not be turned on only by receptionist but the only times they switched it on was 16:30pm till 18:30pm for 2 hours and all night it was off and very cold and they only switched it on at 8am the following day. Bed sheets were not changed it smelt of faeces and stains were clear to see. I complained to the reception on arrival and a different room was given to me which also smelt strongly of cigarettes but worse, bathroom lighting was very dark, could not breathe well due to the strong smell of cigarettes, so was given the old room back, at 11pm there was a lot of people outside in the corridor outside my room shouting and screaming for about 15 minutes, overall experience was horrendous. I was also with my daughter aged 12 who had to sleep through such a cold room and smelly room of cigarettes, we travelled from Northampton we took us 3 hours due to traffic on the way and my daughter fell unwell the following day due to all this that affected us.
Staff to be more kinder and understanding.
Noise to be reduced at a certain time.
Bedrooms to be fixed and at a higher expectation.
Walls to be fixed and stairs. New design maybe and to fit fire alarms to avoid people from smoking indoors and some fragrance diffusers to be put in rooms for good smell. And more customer service to be given to meet a customers needs.

My friend and I stop here to go to live music nights at 1 of several excellent venues within walking distance. I have some mobility issues and need to have as few steps up and down as possible . The room we always request meets my needs perfectly, having a balcony for fresh air, very spacious bathroom with assistance rails on the corner bath, and a pull out bed enabling my choice of friends to have an evening out with to be flexible. I love the,all be it faded, grandeur of this hotel, and the staff on site are always relaxed, friendly and helpful.
The new owner company OYO seem impersonal and devoid of the human touch I have always admired of The George. Also , when I discovered that the George had been bought into a larger group, I had hoped that the potential of the hotel would be brought up to its fullest - with the decor being renewed from the tired state that does not befit such a stunning building.
OYO, don't let the hotel down, bring it back to life!!!!

Room sizes were decent
Toilets in rooms need updating. Hallway carpets also need updating

Room and bed itself were clean enough
Carpets ripped, horrible smell, wardrobe had no pole to hang my clothes on, toilet made an incredibly loud noise when flushed and the bed was uncomfortable. It was very noisy from within and outside the hotel so I hardly slept. Will never stay here again
