Good location, clean and beautiful room. The bathroom is exceptional with powerful shower
The pillows are awful they need to replace them. I ended up having neck discomfort. Insufficient toiletries as canisters were empty, no shower gel provided.
4.1
Beautiful old part of the hotel, with lots of Art Nouveux furnishings. Location to town was great and the breakfast was delicious and great variety.
Paying for parking, at £10 a night, should be included in the stay. Having your breakfast cooked to order would have been nice rather than buffet. Small detail cleaning the tops of the sauce bottles, rather than a congealed top.
4.1
They loved the hotel. They advised it was a nice 20 min walk into town with lots to see on the way.
4.1
The hotel was in a good location to reach various attractions. The staff was great and when we had a problem with one of the rooms (it was smelly), they immediately changed it, so very helpful.
The rooms were small, you didn't have the space to walk in, neither there was any space for really putting your luggage. One of the rooms had such a small shower cubicle, you couldn't even shower comfortbly in it as a man.
On the second day, we came back from town and the room wasn't cleaned up. Towells were changed and bins emptied, but the bed wasn't changed or made. My girl sat by mistake on a piece of chocolate on the bed, so it really needed changing, but it wasn't changed. The bed wasn't made. The room wasn't vacuumed either. I'd have expected more from Hilton, so for me a bit of a disappointment.

The location.. a nice walk into town.
We were looking forward to a cocktail as was mentioned on the website after driving for 3 and a half hours.. only to be told they didn’t do cocktails from quite a rude bar man. Maybe don’t mention on your website that you do cocktails. Also filling up the teas and coffees daily would be appreciated.

decor was stunning, staff really friendly and welcoming and plenty of space in the room. Location was perfect, a nice walk into the city centre.
the extra charge per night for parking and breakfast was a little steep.
4.1
The breakfast was OK, the room interior decoration was nice. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The common areas were splendid.
There were quite a few things that made our stay disappointing.
The courtyard room was only accessible through the courtyard, which made morning stroll to and from breakfast chilling and uncomfortable.
The room was smaller than it appeared on the photos, although on Booking no area size was specified. This is a minus on itself.
Also, the room had no proper windows, it felt like a cellar.
The room was located in a newly built extension, we were looking forward to staying in the historic building. This was also omitted in the description. The extension itself was already worn out - carpet had a large stain, there was some paint spilled in the corridor and even some feathers, some handles on the shower were missing, which made it difficult to operate. Also, the shower did not hold properly in the wall and was always shaking when operated.
Additionally, the toilet area was crammed, it was remarkably difficult to reach for the toilet paper. The mattresses felt quite worn out, there was a dip in the middle, so your body always wanted to roll to the middle.
We missed fresh vegetables and some vegan options for breakfast, a thing as simple as a vegan spread would do perfectly.
For the money, we could have stayed at Hampton, which would have been more central and with the same (=absent) historic feel and the room could not be much worse.

gorgeous art nouveau hotel.
can't say.

Granola pots were lovely but we didn’t always get one as there weren’t many
No hairdryer in room, no conditioner, 3 ppl but only 2 towels and cups. Flush stopped working on toilet.
But all rectified when we talked to staff.

the rooms were incredible just the way they were decorated! it wasn’t too close to the city centre but only a 5-10 mins taxi! breakfast was great and staff were great and very helpful!

Localização boa, um pouco fora do centro mas ao lado da rodovia principal. Hotel luxuoso e muito bem decorado. Estacionamento gratuito no próprio hotel.

Lovely old building, in true York tradition.
Staff very friendly and helpful
It's a traditional hotel, so no lift
Bring small suitcases 😁
4.1
Good location, interesting decor and furnishing, enjoyed the bold colors and period features.
Entrance was poor compared to the facilities inside.
There was a bad drain smell when shower went on.
4.1
The hotel is magnificent- lots of period features. Also has great facilities - good WiFi and tea and coffee station in the room.
On the night we dined there was a hitch in the kitchen which led to a longish wait for food. However the staff kept us informed and gave us a drink in the bar to compensate. The food was extremely good. So it’s not such a negative!
4.1
The room was lovely and spacious. The bathtub was a nice touch with the decor of the room and bathroom. The bed was comfortable too. The location is great and handy for getting into York.
The room was not replenished properly. The hand soap dispenser was empty and the shower dispenser too. Not discovered until the morning. A small bar of soap on the sink and two small complimentary bottles one shower gel the other shampoo. Not great for two people sharing. Very poor experience on that front. You'd expect the room to be fully stocked and replenished as this was a superior room at over £120 per night. Breakfast was OK having a cooked selection but we had to choose a time because the breakfast was served from 7 until 9:45. The only times available were after 9 but 9am was fully booked. We took 9:15. There was the option of a cooked breakfast of which we took full English. There was a continental breakfast area which wasn't replenished either... a theme here! A handful of bread slices to toast. No pastries. Little juices and no fruit. Little milk. A small leftover selection of meats and cheeses. No side plates. Very very poor if I'm honest.

good location, nice room
no parking on site, had to book it in addition to hotel

The room was lovely. Decorated to a good standard.
Breakfast was serve yourself re cereals etc it appeared sparce and the coffee machine had hot water in it and not hot milk. One or two were heard complaining about that. There was only 1 member of staff on too. The place appeared dusty and for the price we paid we would have like to see table clothes on the tables.
4.1
Helpful staff, stored our luggage on the day of arrival (before check in time ) which allowed a day of exploring around York.
Lack of toiletries in room , extras supplied on request but seemed a bit odd to have to ask.

A gorgeous gem of a hotel. Our room was lovely, bed was really comfortable, and they even left us complimentary drinks and chocolate in the mini fridge and robes and slippers. Spoke to the staff on a couple of occasions and they were very friendly and helpful. The location is perfect as it isn't right in the centre but only a 15min walk away and a 5min taxi. We had to change the dates of our trip due to illness and they couldn't have been more accommodating with this. Honestly one of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed in and I'll be recommending it to others! :)
Maybe if there could be a lamp in the living area part of the room for better lighting but that's literally the only tiny thing I can think of! :)
4.1
Good English breakfast and very clean.
Not much parking at the hotel and you have to pay most days out on the road.
4.1
Great size room and only a 10 minute walk into town.
A small issue with the heating.
4.1
Allwent well. Particularly the staff. Extremely friendly and helpful. Room excellent.

Decor and room sizes were great.
Paid parking. Check in 3pm. No Baileys at the bar. Continental breakfast wasn’t topped up for guests that arrived after our 9.15 sitting. No tea spoons….…no Bailey’s at Xmas and bar very expensive😱

Poor VFM. Whilst staff were very pleasant, very naive and stretched.

Lovely spacious hotel a doable walk from mainline train station. We knew the location & our room in courtyard was lovely
Cold to get from room to breakfast at 7 am I at end of November
4.1
Had a courtyard room, very comfortable, spacious.
Hotel looks very tired from the outside.
4.1
The location is ideal for a visit to York.
Housekeeping was not up to the standard I was expecting from a well rated hotel. Used glasses were not cleaned, nor was the tea and coffee tray. The room was not as described on booking.com, the little extras were missing. The bathroom looked magical at first glance but some fittings were quite loose and required a bit of TLC.
4.1
The new rooms in the courtyard are very neat and comfortable. The comfort makes it up for the lack of charm of the older part.
A bit outside the city. But very calm
4.1
Gorgeous downton abbey style hotel, beautiful decor.
We arrived around 11pm and then were out late in York and both times there was staff in reception to greet us. Staff were really friendly and helpful.
Lovely breakfast too, continental as well as more on the menu, hope to stay again sometime
4.1
Would have preferred option to just pay for continental breakfast so didn’t have
Cocktail making- ingredients missing and staff not trained enough to make
