From the friendly, efficient and professional welcome to the short tour of the building for orientation (it's a wonderful rabbit warren of a place!), to the excellent breakfast selection, to the supremely comfortable and quiet room overlooking Charlotte Square, this hotel is much more than a hotel. It's a beautiful home from home, where you just happen to pay a bill at the end of your visit. I had room 226 directly overlooking Charlotte Square but somehow managing to cut out almost all noise from outside. Bed was comfy and cosy, bathroom very well equipped and decorated, my swim before breakfast was a great wake up. I'll definitely be back, just no idea when...
My only quibble is trying to find a quiet corner for a coffee and read my book, but the place has such a lovely atmosphere that this is not actually a problem, you simply soak up the vibe ;-)

I enjoyed the comfort of the bed and feather pillows in the room. The breakfast highlight for me was the porridge, believe it or not, but it was mourish and well presented. The location was perfect due its location and proximity to the castle and shops.
The gym was superb!
I would've liked a room with some view, even just a slither, as the room was very dark and I felt there was no sufficient lighting. I felt crowed although I stayed alone. Further, the bathrobe had a big hole in the sleeve, and the cleaner accidentally assumed my personal face cloth was the hotel's. Although the coffee experience and product was delightful, the process took a little longer than anticipated due to the dripping process. A nespresso would be more ideal.
For a 5-star rated property, the breakfast selection felt inadequate and perhaps needed more healthier options for example, bircher muesli, and a wider selection of fruits.

Beautiful comfortable hotel with friendly helpful staff and lovely restaurant to enjoy breakfast every morning! Danny at reception was wonderful and Wesley helped us find great places to eat!

Great location, comfortable room, beautiful interiors, excellent swimming pool
Breakfast was average. Quest for tables on both days, coffee took 15/20 minutes to arrive. Food decent but uninspiring. a la carte menu v limited

Cozy, well appointed room. Very comfortable bed. Was able to check in early. Reception staff quite helpful.

an info folder in the room or info via tv would be good

Such an opulent hotel, warm shades with top end comfort, cozy and quiet. Staff are very helpful without being overbearing. Breakfast was lovely, a good choice for all tastes. Happy hour was a pleasant surprise ! Well done all involved !

Der Hop-On Hop-off Bus fährt fast direkt beim Hotel ab.
Beim Frühstück gab es leider keine wechselnde Auswahl. Die Eggs Benedict (mit Lachs erhältlich) waren aber hervorragend.

Lovely hotel in a central location in Edinburgh with lovely staff who aim to please. The highlight for us was Aizle, the in-house restaurant - best meal we've had in a very long time. Clean and spacious twin room with snacks offered. Lovely.
Found the hotel very expensive for what it was.

Very nice hotel in great location
My room somewhat small and cramped. Rather expensive-though i appreciate it is during the Festival!

Great location in peaceful part of New Town. Individual ambiance and style. Rooms were well equipped and comfortable. Staff were friendly and attentive. Great breakfast, bar and restaurant.
Access is tricky, as it’s not possible to park outside main entrance.

The ability of your accounts dept to actually answer the phone or return any of the messages left

Excellent bed and linens and quiet room - with yoga mat for use in the wardrobe! Great Location and helpful staff. Lovely reception areas to sit and have coffee/meetings etc.
Nitpicking here but I would like fresh milk if offered tea/coffee in the room rather than the single use plastic UHT stuff.

the location was great, plenty of bars and restaurants. can’t fault the staff, lovely to talk too and very helpful.
left a nice note congratulating us on getting married, little chocolate dessert and bottle of Prosecco for our mini honeymoon stay.
definitely think our room was overpriced, £700 for two nights (no breakfast included) maybe paying more for location? the shower pressure wasn’t great.

We were greeted by very efficient staff who made us feel very welcome, hotel was beautiful. I'm a Breakfast lover and can say that breakfast was fantastic and the Haggis was the best I've ever tasted. I would highly recommend the parking Offred by hotel just made whole visit seamless. Location was excellent turn left a few minutes away from Royal Mile , Turn right your on George street with all the wonderful shops and restaurants.
There wasn't anything we didn't like everything was perfect just for me I felt price was a little steep at £550 per night but that wont deter me from returning again in the future.

Fantastic location, wonderful service for the car parking. Friendly lovely staff.
Nothing could be better , we loved it all.

Loved our stay at the Kimpton. Comfortable room, friendly staff, amazing breakfast. Spa area was great. Reception also made my husband feel very special on his birthday. Thank you! Would definitely stay here again.
Should have stayed longer.

Everything was amazing relaxing overnight stay.
I loved the relaxed vibe and the attention to detail.

The hotel is wonderful: super friendly and helpful staff everywhere, great location, very comfortable with lovely amenities.
Our King room was lovely, but we also decided to upgrade our room to a junior suite, which was reasonable to do, and was a very nice room, with great space and views, super comfy bed, and lovely spacious bathroom.
Breakfast at the hotel was busy, but very well catered, and there was a great selection of food available.
The spa and pool areas were excellent as before.
Definitely my go-to luxury hotel in Edinburgh.
Nothing.

Location, comfort, snacks. Staff were very friendly.
Noisy party till 0100 one night, then barking dog in next room 0300-0330-left us absolutely exhausted- for the price of this hotel we should have been comped a night. Room service food left a lot to be desired. $16 for 8 tablespoons of ice cream. Daily fee of $50 on top of room rate. The toiletries were very strong men’s cologne scent.
4.4
Loved the shabby chic feel to the hotel. Enjoyed the social hour.
Room wasn’t as expected - bathroom very small. Room looked a little dated and paint / wallpaper needed attention. Fridge made noises every hour and woke us up several times during the night, as did the ceiling alarm that kept flashing. Paid a high price for trip - room could have been better. Still waiting for credit card to be updated - amount taken at checking in even though I have paid upfront for booking. Reception check in person was a little difficult to understand due to her accent and we didn’t hear everything she was saying a she spoke quietly also. Check in was quite slow! Was not told that mulled wine was only on weekend therefore we missed out. Thought breakfast would be in the bigger Garden restaurant- breakfast in Baba restaurant- very cramped with limited supply of food to choose from

Beautiful hotel set in an ideal location for shopping and getting round Edinburgh. Stunning architecture and comfortable rooms. Close proximity to princess street and rose street with some lovely hidden gems. Not noisy at all, our room had a view of the castle. The decor and classic feel of the hotel was lovely, warm welcome from the staff which was nice. I can't comment on the food as we were out sightseeing everyday, but the place was idyllic for 3 nights.
On arrival there was an error made taking payment from the wrong card which did cause me quite a lot of stress, but this was rectified by the next morning and I was compensated for this by manager Lilleth. I appreciated this as it had been a long day and me and my partner just wanted to enjoy Edinburgh without the hassle of going back and fourth to reception. We would come back to this hotel based on our experience being made better.

Everything was just top-notch in this fabulous hotel. The staff in the hotel were so friendly and accommodating and Steve in particular deserves a special mention. They could not have done more for us! We left early for a trip to the Highlands one day and there were lovely little breakfast bags organised for us and left at reception. Our room was really spacious and had everything you'd need. Anything you might have forgotton is provided by the hotel - a lovely little touch. Bathroom and shower also so nice. The hotel lobby had lots of really nice spaces to hang out in and the bar had such a nice vibe. We ate in the Lebanese restaurant one night and it was a busy popular spot, and I could see why. If in Edinburgh again, I'd make it my business to stay here again and will also be recommending to my friends and family. Location is so central, on a street with lots of restaurants and pubs, a little christmas market and ice-rink, and just around the corner from Rose Street, which also has loads of food and drink options.
The spa was lovely but very busy. I'd book ahead for a treatment, I was lucky to get one spot left on the day I wanted.

All the staff were very courteous, professional and effective. The food (breakfast and at Baba) was very good. Nice touch to have the 5-6pm social hour in the Baba bar.
One small suggestion at breakfast - having warm plates for the cooked breakfast would have been preferable, but the food quality and range was very good.

It was fab from start to finish! Very attentive staff! Thai trip was for my mums 65th birthday as we had a theatre night booked. We were given a bottle of Prosecco and chocolates in our room for my mum which was a lovely and kind surprise. Thank you 😁
Nothing!

The breakfast and the evening drinks
The property was lovely and clean
The team were all exceptional from porters and doormen through to reception, bar staff and housekeeping
The pool was too cold
There was no private and cosy hotel bar - there are two lovely cosy lounge rooms for breakfast and the garden room which is light and open but nothing for a cosy drink which didn’t have the general public in
4.4
Very nicely done out, nice building, good location
My room felt a little bit dark, could have done with brighter spot lights
4.4
Wonderfully friendly, professional and efficient welcome and check-in. Got a short tour of the facilities, including the information that AIZLE restaurant is a separate company and you need to book... whoever complained about that obviously wasn't paying attention as I heard this being said to every new arrival!
Room was lovely, a decent sized single, on the second floor in the building above Baba Bar, facing Las Iguanas on George Street, very comfortable, absolutely spotless and surprisingly quiet considering it was on George Street! Great walk-in shower with beautiful brick-style tiling. Well equipped, coffee, tea, fridge, ironing board and iron, hairdryer, good sized bottles of cream, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. My only quibble here is that the water flow from the shower is not very strong but take into consideration this is a 200+ year old building and they are infamous for poor water..
Drinks in the bar in the evening with friends, excellent Sangiovese and big measures...
Early morning, down to the pool. I did not expect the gym facilities to be quite so extensive and good, need to bring my gym kit next time! The pool is not very big, 12metres, I think but enough to loosen up and get the day started. Really appreciate the little dryer/spinner for swimwear, means you are not packing a dripping wet swimsuit.
Breakfast... served in the Baba restaurant with the buffet set up in the bar area. The rooms are a bit of a time warp with beautiful plaster moulding, dining tables and chairs but also sofas, armchairs and banquette seating, dark colours and rather sumptious. The breakfast offering is comprehensive, fruits, cold cuts, cheeses, smoked salmon, doughnuts, croissants, other breads too many to mention and an excellent range of cooked foods... bacon, fabulous pork sausages, scrambled eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms, baked beans and (it's Scotland after all) haggis... all fresh and hot.
Absolutely NOTHING! It was all brilliant, thank you!
4.4
The location, the service and the break
No Internet in the rooms as it was weak, some rooms are noisy as I changed my room on the second night

The location was incredible, the decor is whimsical, breakfasts are great, and they have Ardbeg!!!
Nothing.
