Good location for centre of town, yet quiet and peaceful.
Front entrance and rooms up stairs so not suitable for disabled guests. 30min parking on Main Street very close to entrance, so OK for checking in, but nearest car park around back street @ £10 a day ( to 8 o’clock in morning then pay extra £5/2 hrs.).

The room was lovely and spacious, however i did ask for a room as near to the ground floor/ less stairs. I knew there were stairs into the building however there were a few rooms on the first landing that would of suited my needs better.
Stairs , Other then that it was perfect

Expectations were met as always and we equally enjoyed our stay as much as we did last time in March. The staff are always very friendly and happy to help and make conversation which is always lovely. The room was very clean and up kept well for the next night since we stayed two nights. The food is always lovely and breakfast times are quite flexible which is appreciated. Thank you Chester Townhouse, we will return again!

Hotel was clean, staff were friendly and helpful. Lovely bar/garden area. Great location. Would book again if coming back to Chester. 10/10

Gorgeous old-style townhouse, loads of character and high ceilings. Very comfortably furnished (I could have slept on the carpet!) and nice to have a bathroom with actual opening windows and natural light. Staff were fantastic and great location. Spacious room with plenty of useful furniture (actual storage in the bathroom under sink, etc).
The only small gripe I had was that there was only one usable plug socket and it was right underneath the TV far away from the bed so I couldn’t use and charge my phone at the same time. Understandable given the age of the property, but I would rather have had an accessible socket next to the bed than the wired-in landline phone on the bedside table which seems a bit unneeded in this day and age. Very minor point though!

The staff were lovely and very helpful, and breakfast was very nice and had lovely staff. We were amazed at the standard of the hotel and the price. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and felt comfortable and safe throughout our stay. We will definitely return in the summer. The facilities were amazing and the bedroom size was incredible.

The hotel was clean, the staff were friendly, and it’s in a great location.
The only issue we had was that the room was uncomfortably hot at night, we found it really difficult to sleep even with the window open.

Location of hotel, staff and level of cleanliness of facilities were excellent.
Room was cosy and quiet even on a busy Saturday night in Chester!
Easy to find and well appointed.
Definitely recommend a stay here for couples.
Room and bathroom were a little small, but did not really detract from our one night stay.

Comfy bed nice big room secret garden was amazing good location into town right by the river.
Due to the age of the building no lifts which may have an impact on older clientele.

excellent location . beautiful decor fantastic secret garden

the outside, friendly bar staff and the location
room 12,we where initially put in here but I requested a room change as it was basically an attack with no windows, very run down.Thankfully we got moved to another room if not I would have just looked for different accommodation.
room 12 should not be allowed to be rented out, especially at £135 a night I would not have paid d £35

good location. easy check-in. lovely staff. cleanliness is superb.
our supposed to be double bed is just 2 single beds put in together so there is a gap in the middle which is uncomfortable. but other than that we had a lovely stay.

Location
Requested a quiet room however i was located in the the room directly above the public house.

Comfy room, good central location, helpful staff. We were only staying one night en route but we would stay again if in Chester. Excellent breakfast as well
Nothing really except the access to the room which couldn't really be changed. Liked the cheerfully decorated outside breakfast room but could hear workmen arguing next door which was intrusive.

Conveniently located close to town centre.Lovely outside bar/garden.
The bar and dining area are lovely but the hotel lets itself down with the rooms. They are dated and need modernised. To be fair we stayed in a family room so can only comment on what we booked.

Helpful pleasant staff. Slow attention being served afternoon tea. Frequently had to ask 2/3 different staff members for assistance.
Afternoon tea very tasty but had to ask three different people for plate of chips that were ordered. They arrived when we had almost finished the meal.
More attentive staff. Have an identified member of staff instead of several who didn’t seem to have any continuity.
Room 14 was at the top of the building which caused both my husband and myself a lot of pain as we are disabled. This was not mentioned in the booking details. We tried to minimise the number of journeys we made up to the room as it caused much discomfort. On one occasion the key card did not activate so we had to make an unnecessary trip up and down, the staff made no apology for this.
No storage space resulting in having to keep our clothes in suitcases on the floor. Inadequate hanging rail is no substitute.

The decor inside the bar area is beautiful unfortunately the rest of the hotel disappoints
Our room was very dated with marks and holes in the wall . The shower was dirty with cobwebs

Friendly staff. Excellent breakfast
The room for 4 people had only a tiny window, had to keep the fan working whole night

staff excellent , great breakfast
we were down in basement and there was a lot of
movement above in the morning very early.

The location. Was great. A nice hotel.
Shame it didn't have air conditioning. We came at the hight of a heat wave and stayed on the top floor. With only a small window and a fan that didn't cover all three of us staying.

Secret Garden was lovely. Room was spacious and did what we needed. Good location to explore Chester
Room was a little tired, one tiny fan between 4 people on one of the hottest days of the year. Extra £17.50 per person for breakfast is absolutely disgraceful.
8.0
Comfortable small room with good view south over rooftops. Lovely breakfast in the new "Secret Garden" which I hadn't seen on previous stays here. Friendly staff. Good central location for exploring Chester, mostly within walking distance
The bathroom was one of the tiniest I've seen in a hotel room. Walls are quite thin on the top floor.

The cooked breakfast options were created to order, ensuring freshness, and there was an excellent range of choices.
The staff were very helpful with their local knowledge to answer our queries.
Nothing was too much trouble and they offered to bring breakfast up to an unwell member of our party one morning.

Good breakfasdt.
