The staff were super nice and friendly.
The food was also amazing.
Huge thanks to Chris and his team.
The wifi signal upstairs wasn’t great, but it actually meant having a conversation as opposed to being glued to a phone screen.

Everything; the location, the staff, the rooms, the food. Fab

Situated in a lovely village. Traditional old Pub which has been nicely refurbished. Staff were friendly and very helpful. We ate in the Restaurant and the food was very nice. Our room was large with a super king bed, a great mattress and high quality bed linen. Nice bathroom with a good shower. Our plans changed and we had to leave at 4am the day after our stay ,due to a change in the time of departure of our Ferry from Plymouth. We asked as we wouldn’t be having breakfast if they could make us some sandwiches, we were assured by the staff member that he would find out. We thought he had forgotten ,but when we left in the early hours there was a small fridge plugged in outside our room containing sandwiches, bottled water along with crisps, apples and some chocolate. This was greatly appreciated and very kind.
Our dog was welcome everywhere in the pub including the Restaurant. We had a lovely stay and would recommend.

Excellent bedroom with wide bed and sofa. Beautiful dining room with helpful staff. Hard to fault the pub. Breakfast was good. I would certainly recommend the pub and its accommodation.
Dinner menu somewhat limited in choice and not overly inspiring. But that was the only negative
4.7
Was really great. Staff were great, room was great, food was great
Really nice - only tiny tiny suggestion would be more area thats "comfy" - alot of it is set up as restaurant as opposed to "pub"

Errrrrrm no wifi thought there might be. Only down side.

The hotel was very clean and warm and welcoming and great food was a bonus…

Breakfast was excellent, with locally sourced bacon and sausages. Excellent customer service and very friendly well trained staff. Our evening meal was one of the best we have tasted. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to friends and family and will certainly return.

The staff were fantastic. Very knowledgeable, very friendly, very helpful. Best staff experience we have ever had !
bedroom and bathroom were well spec’d and pub is nicely presented, food was tasty.
A limited choice, for non-vegetarians? Given that we make up more than 90% of the population.
when we were there, the restaurant was quite quiet, and we had non-stop saxophone wallpaper, music that did not help at all !

Room was lovely, very comfy bed .Breakfast was lovely.
Nothing great place.

Everything…except….
Noise from the kitchen underneath, although we were warned.
4.7
Lovely large room that had great style and a big comfy bed. Bar and restaurant has great food. The breakfast was spot on. Staff are very friendly.
The bathroom had a few issues with finishes and loud dripping sounds from toilet. No window or extractor fan so it gets steamy. The floorboards from rooms above are loud too.
4.7
Lovely pub and very comfy bed. Friendly staff. Great walking in the area.
Our room was on the top floor and was a bit hot as a result.
4.7
The bar area was welcoming whilst the dining room, done up in green oak, was a fabulous place to eat. The bedroom (we had on at the very top of the building) was very spacious.
The stairs from the 1st floor to the 2nd were a struggle for my disabled wife.
4.7
Breakfast and dinner was great, big portions. Very friendly staff and the pub felt unique and classic at the same time.
The lighting in the pub and restaurant could’ve been slightly darker to create a cosier vibe.
4.7
The location is stunning, the food was good, although pricey, and staff were very helpful, and the room was good, although needed a refresh...
The restaurant menu was a bit limited ...and pricey! £17 for a burger ..and just ordinary chips!!.. no garnish, not triple cooked or anything else on the plate :-( ... so just an expensive McDonalds on a plate
breakfast was a bit of an effort ...I mean pouring a cup of tea .. instead of providing a pot ? also everything was off the menu ...no serve yourself anything .. food was good tho, and no complaints there
Our room was over the kitchen ...so when we tried to go to sleep at 10:00 there was quite a lot of noise from the "cleaning up" of the kitchen pots banging, the bins being emptied ..so avoid the "FONTHILL" room if you want an early night

Setting very peaceful . Food was excellent .lovely room and generous size .
4.7
Beautiful location, fantastic food and very comfortable rooms. Staff all very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Recommend for a quite break.
Only slight gripe was you had to ask for toast, orange juice and for another cup of coffee for breakfast whereas these are normally offered.
4.7
Amazing place to stay.Staff very friendly-nothing too much trouble.Stayed in the Nadder room which was really well presented- exceptionally clean, modern and comfy, but not over cluttered and cozy with a thoughtful welcoming tray containing good selection of teas and coffee,a proper size kettle and a jar of biccies..Food gorgeous - highly recommend the fish taco and James ' Coq au Gin".Beautiful tranquil calm vibe..excellent base for exploring further afield.
