In general, the staff was friendly and helpful. Just came across as a bit unprofessional, but I understand their situation and that this is a backpackers' hostel after all. The location was pretty convenient too. The train station is a 10 min walk again and takes you to the very centre of Sydney in 5 minutes. There's a big supermarket just 7 minutes away as well. And a very nice big park very near the hostel. Shower and toilet were almost always clean! And you could easily notice that they were cleaned many times a day, even considering so many people were using the same shower and toilet. They have different common areas which is lovely, and the kitchen seemed big, even though I personally never used it.
There's only one shower and one toilet per building, that is at least for around 6 rooms I believe (my room was 11 people). But we were shown to use the other showers near the common areas. It wasn't too bad overall. The building itself is not very convenient (three floors with only stairs and the restroom is on the first floor only) and is old and the mattresses are noisy. The staff wasn't very professional when it came to customer service in my opinion, but were overall helpful and friendly. The check-in was a bit strange though. The main door has no ring bell and it's locked with a key, and even though I knocked no one heard me and I had to just wait until someone happened to come in or out of the hostel to be able to get in. If you check in before 8 AM or after 8 PM apparently you have to give them a call, so bear that in mind if you're not travelling with a sim card. I found the hostel a bit unsupervised and it got a bit loud sometimes. It's more like a party hostel and was quite crowded when I was there. Some people in my room were loud even in late hours (23:00) and there was a strange vibe. This is not necessarily the hostel's fault, but I'd say bear in mind that it may get hard to sleep there at night. Again, much of this is not the hostel's fault, but it being so busy and not so supervised especially at night can make it messy and hard to sleep at night. There are definitely worse hostels, but if you're looking for a bit of comfort or to recharge, this may not be the best one.

Ottima pulizia degli ambienti comuni, sistema di cucine e food storage ben organizzato. Il giardino segreto è perfetto per mangiare e svagarsi in compagnia.
Sarebbe necessario potenziare i bagni o aumentarne il numero. Sarebbe ideale installare hand driers elettrici.

It’s super cozy, every staff was friendly and helpful, and people I met were extreme nice to each other! And there’s a nearby park, a train station, which is super convenient.
Nope.

It is the best hostel that I stayed in during my trip, the reception team is very friendly, they helped me with all my concerns about the city, fast check-in, excellent service to leave luggage. The hostel stands out for its impeccable cleanliness, both the rooms and the bathrooms are fabulous, every day there is a program of activities, from training, free BBQ, nachos and the shared rooms are fantastic for meeting new people, common space to listen to music and watch series. I felt at home. Really highlighted the entire Staff of this hostel that each one of them is wonderful !!!
Everything was excellent, I wish that all the hostels in the world are like this and with such a magnificent staff !!!

Was clean and the open spaces were great. Location was good too!
Bunk beds were older and creaky when climbing, moving in. PLUS lack of sufficient numbers of toilet/bathrooms.
Would stay again for a short time tho.

When i first saw the hostel it looked a bit rough on the outside thought what have i got myself into but as they say don't judge a book by its cover. When i walked through the front door to the front desk i couldn't beleive how lovely it was inside was greeted with a smile from the lovely staff who explained everything to me.I was showen to my eight bed all female accommodation to my suprise i was the first to stay there had the room to myself. They are renovating the property so everything is new and clean including the shower and toilet with lots of hot water. They have a lovely out door garden as the name says the Secret Garden and the best thing is it was the cheapest hostel in Sydney it is very close to Central Station and other public transport.I'am 68 years old a little bit fussy where i stay when staying overnight in Sydney i would recommend the Secret Garden to stay at you wont be disappointed the staff are just so lovely.
There wan't anything i didn't like. They had everything you need to stay at the hostel as i said they were fixing it up but didn't interfer as i spent most of my time in the city.i

Nothing at all.
I'm from the Philippines; the manager & staffs are very condescending & racists. They stole my money too, after I gave back the key they never give me back my A$20 deposit. The place are full of cockroaches & people smoking weed.

Secret gardens its the place more similar to home. Every time i go back there is people that i know and new cool people. I had many great times there.

Too much party and people stare all the time like you steal something from them for no reason. Some of the tenant bump into and didn’t even say sorry, rude people. 7 o’clock in the morning kitchen still closed and area was filthy rubbish everywhere. People who don’t live there hang around and making trouble with the tenant and funny they always come back there when the key only belong to tenants, tighten up security no outsider allowed for tenants security. Especially in the COVID when there supposed to be limitations for party and unregistered walk ins. Very disappointing could have done better.

Having breakfast in the garden is beautiful, a true sun trap. Great music playing to get you going in the morning
The bathrooms could have done with a clean each day
