This was our first experience with Evolve Rentals. We loved this apartment inside a 122 year historic home. It was well kept, clean, & centrally located in the cute little town of Carpinteria. The master bedroom bed is the most comfortable bed ever! The backyard is perfect for working remote or reading a book while on vacation. It was nice to have a private hot tub. This unit was so charming and we hope to be back! The proximity to the local restaurants and 10 minute walk to the beach were awesome :)

Great place to stay and you are centraly located to all the great shops and close to the beach.

Amazing property. Yard is split but still very private. Close to everything if you want to park and have a relaxing weekend

The apartment was clean and welcoming! We enjoyed being so close to shops and restaurants, as well as walking distance to the beach.
Our pups also loved being able to vacation with us!!!

We always enjoy staying at this great find in downtown carpinteria. The property is very clean and has everything you need.

My family and I have been coming to Carpinteria for 20 years now. We have stayed in tents, RVs, condos & pretty much everything in between. This was BY FAR our most favorite place ever! The beds were THE most comfortable were ever slept in on any vacation! The location is PERFECT! We did not hear the train ! The host went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and accommodated! We loved having our own private spa & place for our FURson to join in the vacation. We will definitely be back and share our wonderful experience with all of our friends & family.

Just a wonderful place to stay to really get the feel of Carpineria. Close to everything. Don't miss Little Dom's and Carp Kitchen and Lucky Lama Coffee, all nearby

The house is charming, but the bathroom is not....the sink is the tiny. You can't use it without getting water everywhere. The mirror above the tiny sink is the wrong size and hung at the wrong height. We banged into it many times.
The shower head needs to be replaced. It feels like little needles of water, very unpleasant.
Owners, please use the bathroom at your earliest convenience. You will understand what we are saying.

We had such a nice weekend getaway in Carpenteria staying at the Castro house. The apartment is in a beautiful historic house that is well maintained and feels both cozy and spacious with tall ceilings and lots of woodwork. The hot tub on the back deck is private and glorious after a day of hiking and walking around downtown. There is a coffee shop and seafood restaurant across the street and you’re just a block away from the main street with most of the restaurants and shops. We would definitely stay here again!

We will be back! This is a great location and very comfortable stay. I wished we booked another night! The kitchen is wonderful and met my needs and the hot tub was a huge plus (wish we had more time so we could take another dip).

The location was perfect. It’s an older house so I reserved the upstairs unit and downstairs unit. You can hear every move from the upstairs as expected and you can hear your neighbors, why I reserved the downstairs unit as well however I didn’t know there was an additional unit directly under the upstairs, so there were complaints with another family about noise. I was upstairs alone and my mother downstairs could hear me. The pullout couches in both units were awful. I tried to let the property management know how uncomfortable we were, and she had no suggestions other than me, asking her for more thick blankets to lay down. The futon on the downstairs in the bedroom was very uncomfortable. For 3 nights of our stay we would wake up freezing. I set the thermostat to 70 before I went to bed and when I would wake up it was set to 63 I could not understand why the temperature kept dropping so then again I contacted property management to let her know what was going on that I had a 5 month old and my mother who is 65 staying here and how do I keep it at 70. She said I had 100% access to the thermostat.. I then realized she was turning it down because after that it stayed at 70. The back bedroom in the downstairs does not stay warm, it’s the coldest room in the house where my mother was staying. It has a fire place but I assume that’s for look’s because it did not keep the room warm. We were very uncomfortable.

The house was beautiful, clean, and matched the photos, and the location was great. Overall we were very pleased with our stay. We did have a couple small hiccups with communication, and the bathroom was very small because it is a historic house, so it may be something to keep in mind if you’re traveling with more people. However, if you’re looking for a beautiful historic house in a very picturesque, nice location, we would definitely recommend staying here.

Good location - walkable to everything! The house is fantastic - great kitchen and patio. The bedrooms and beds good be better. The bathroom is quite small.

We loved the property. Perfect for three people since the bathroom is on the small side, though the shower is new and a generous size. One bedroom has a permanently made fold out bed which worked fine for our adult daughter. The location, hot tub and patio area are very nice. You can walk across the stree to a wonderful museum, a used book store, coffee shop, and restaurants.
We wil stay here again for sure.

It was very easy to find. The location is convenient, with shops, restaurants, grocery store, etc all within walking distance. People walking their dogs throughout the neighborhood made it feel home-like. The main bedroom is a really nice size. The beds were comfortable. Kitchen had every appliances and cookware needed to make our holiday dinner. I highly recommend this rental, particularly for small families, despite these cons:
1. Set up: the kitchen, dining and living area are side by side on one side of the house; to get to the other side of the house, where the bathroom and main bedroom are located, you must go through the second/smaller bedroom. This meant constant traffic in the 2nd bdrm to get through to either side of the house (unless you don't mind going outside, through the backyard, as there is a door in the main bedroom that leads to the backyard, and then another door outside that enters the kitchen)
2. There's a railroad nearby, so the sound of a train passing happened daily, sometimes more than once per day and sometimes early morning.
3. The main bedroom was freezing cold at night, even with the heater turned on - I did not see any vents in this main bedroom, which I think was the problem with getting it warm (the main bedroom appeared to be an add-on, but I may be wrong about that). I think a small portable heater could resolve this problem.
Check in was a challenge because we did not receive the email check in instructions until a few hours after the check in time. But, we called the property manager and they answered right away and provided instructions over the phone for entering the home.
Again, despite the challenges above, I'd absolutely rent this property again (with a portable heater during cold season lol). It's such a cute location and home.

Excellent location about 7 minutes walking time to the beach. Very well furnished, historically interesting, in a quiet neighborhood. We will stay there again on our next getaway to the Santa Barbara area.
4.6
We stayed here because we were running the Santa Barbara 1/2 marathon. Communication from the host was spot on, house was lovely and perfect. Close to SB, and blocks away from restaurants and shopping. We had a great time! Also, house is totally dialed with towels, linens and kitchen equipment.
4.6
Greta location! Loved walking across the street for coffee and açaí bowls in the morning.
4.6
The property is cool, and is excellently located right in town. There was a significant unexpected (on our part & the management's) issue during our stay. Management was super responsive and everything was resolved to our complete satisfaction.
4.6
The unit is in a great location and has a very lovely cottage feel but the second bed was really a pull out couch and very uncomfortable. The only bathroom is very small and the sink is tiny.
4.6
They just don't build them like they used to. This place has all of the charm that you'd hope for in a building built in 1909! We will absolutely be coming back soon! location is great for all of the shops and restaurants which you will pass by on your way to the beach.

While this is a well-restored historic home, in a great location in Carp, we grew frustrated trying to manage the advanced technology in this property. Being an old house, we found it to be very cold (the master bedroom has three exterior walls with no HvAC vents). Every time we tried to increase the heat, within a few hours, the Nest thermostat would be lowered again. (Not sure if this was scheduled or manually manipulated by the owner). This grew increasingly frustrating as we tried to manage the cold over three days.
In addition, they installed a whole house management system which made it really difficult to even turn on the tv. I pretty tech savvy, and I couldn’t even figure it out. It took uS three days to finally find the right combination of commands to get the tv working.
With a rain storm and the Covid-19 virus in full swing, we were forced to stay indoors more than we’d like. The cold house and no tv for days made this really challenging. I suggest the owners find a way to resolve his issues for future renters (as the location is otherwise great).

We stayed in this property for a long weekend before the holidays. Location is great, nice walk to the beach, restaurants all around, bookstore, library, museum, etc. The residence had lovely upgrades and very modern for a historic home. Highly recommend!

Charming and spacious
My (now) husband and I booked this vacation rental for the weekend of our wedding. The unit is part of a larger house, but the inside feels like you’re in a house of your own! It has a separate entrance, patio, and hot tub!
We had planned to have our wedding party get ready in the house as well - the unit’s layout was so roomy and spacious, it ended up working really well with our needs. My husband didn’t have to worry about seeing me before the wedding, and I could relax in the living room drinking mimosas with my girls. The neighborhood is very cute and walkable, and quiet at night. The owner is very friendly and made staying here a true pleasure. I would definitely come back to stay again!

Awesome, private apartment in a historic home.
This is a unit in a large historic house. It really is walking distance to everything in Carpinteria that you need- we walked to all our meals, the beach, and even took the train one day. Bedrooms are attached so ideal for a family that doesn't need much privacy. The property is next to a gas station but you wouldn't notice it with a large hedgerow virtually making it unoticeable. Great hot tub and secluded deck, and A+ kitchen appliances for preparing meals at the house. Really small bathroom sink. Jill, the owner; was great- friendly when we met her but wasn't intrusive and it allowed for a great family vacation.

Amazing property. Perfect for a relaxing weekend!
This property has everything you need for a relaxing weekend with friends by the beach. It's very comfortable for four/five people, it has games, it has a very relaxing jacuzzi, it has a lot of things for guests to use on the beach: chairs, umbrellas, even racquetball to play at the beach. The host was very nice to us and very flexible when we had some requests too. :) We even had a very cool welcoming basket. I totally recommend this property.

charming place in a charming town
We had a great stay in this apartment. It was very comfortable, clean and convenient to town. Loved that they had beach chairs and boogie boards for our use! The only drawback is that it is right next to a gas station that is busy very early in the morning and very loud. Still had a great week there.

Comfy, Functional, Character
Very charming, clean and character-filled unit/home. Location was excellent in that one block from Linden Ave shops/restaurants, the fabulous Lucky Llama Cafe and about 4 blocks to beach. Very spacious public rooms and bedrooms with lots of storage. A newer, super clean kitchen and very tasteful bath, though the space felt a bit tight. Fabulous outdoor deck where we spent a lot of our time. Owner, Jill, was very helpful, friendly and yet respectful of privacy. Would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Beautiful house right in downtown Carp. Its a little walk to the beach but definatly worth it!
Great beach house with a lot of character. The owner was very friendly and helpful. There were wet suits, chairs, boogie boards, etc which helped out a lot. Loved the house and would definatly stay there again.

Great location and great house
We loved the house and how well it was setup. It worked perfectly for our family for 5 nights. Jill the host was very nice and welcoming. Relaxing in the hot tub at the end of the day was perfect. Nothing bad to say about the place at all.
