Bedding was nice quality.
Pool was warm.
Aqua class, held twice weekly, was an unexpected bonus.
Service staff were really lovely and all were very helpful.
Nice garden with some sports equipment.
Bathroom floors very slippery when wet.
The hotel seemed to be understaffed.
Service staff were very busy
Room wasn’t ready on time.
After a swim there was only one small changing cubicle with no seat; so ladies shared an open changing area.
Food: Battered fish was good but mushy peas were hard and chips didn’t taste that good.
Several maintenance issues were evident. Renovation work was ongoing.
Cold water in mixer tap didn’t run cold.
Room lighting was poor. Could easily overhear conversation and tv through locked interconnecting door.
Limited views or walks in grounds except around the golf course which did look lovely but there was a risk of flying golf balls.
Lots of sets of steps up and down inside the communal areas.

Location and grounds very nice.
Building in need of some tlc.
Long wait in restaurant.
3.5
The breakfast was good and staff were really friendly
Is looking a little dated now.
Work is being undertaken though, the pool was shut early without prior warning resulting in us not being able to use the facilities

Good selection for Breakfast
The builder right outside our bedroom window Saturday afternoon/evening and again early Sunday morning using ratchet guns, and their generator noise

Cleanliness
None really

Helpful staff especially as the first room they gave us already had people staying there, luckily they were not in their room when we went in, fortunately this was quickly sorted out and we were given an available room. The room size was comfortable and we had a view overlooking a paddock.
Unfortuately one of the first things I noticed about the room were the stains on the carpet. Having already walked back to reception once already that evening, I decided to make do and mentioned it at reception in the morning. I have to say, everything else was fine.

The location was superb, we were having a weekend at Goodwood motor circuit. Only 10 minutes drive and we were there.
The room was good sized with big windows with plenty of light
They hall ways had creaky floor boards when other guests got home late we could hear them come back disturbing us throughout the night
3.5
It was all fine, including dinner.
Nothing.
3.5
Location and gardens great.
Noisy bedroom doors banging early morning and late at night so disturbed sleep - quieter self closing devices needed!
Food very poor.
Customer service poor. No service to the garden. And being the only ones present for lunch on one of the days, no offer to get drinks or bring to the table and garden! As one of a handful of people present to be told to come to the bar to get the menu, let alone drinks, would not have taken much. A hotel of this quality could and should do this.
Appearance of the hotel really needs to be addressed. Peeling paint, rotting windows - not good for first impressions
3.5
Friendly staff. Lovely warm pool.
All the paint work could do with a rubdown and repaint. Main bar wasn’t open.

We only had breakfast, which was excellent.
The room was a bit cold.
3.5
The room was fine albeit in need of a bit of TLC.
The member of Staff in the Restaurant - Carl, was excellent. Attentive at all time to our needs and very helpful. Dinner was very nice on both evenings, well presented, and enjoyable.
Plenty of Parking.
Overall the Hotel looked in need of some TLC and could benefit from some decoration both inside and out.
Breakfast was poor and overpriced - On Sunday the Kitchen staff stated they had run out of Greek Yoghurt, red berries and butter. Also there were no plates or bowls for some time.

Lovely period property
Needed some maintenance in areas such as bathrooms
3.5
Some very nice staff and the bones of what had been a good building but all very tired now.
The place is rather sad, not very comfortable and little by way of luxury.

Park area.

Lots of facilities that were available. Clean bed and bathroom. Staff easy to talk too. Food OK.
I read the reviews so expecting a tired looking hotel and sadly it was correct. Great looking building and grounds but doors and walls need replacing, carpet and furnishings dated. Staff not very plentiful so slow service. Inside swimming pool is tiny so no length swimming available. Gym enough for 2/3 people. Bed was quite hard and shook when sharing so tired nights. Lots of major banging from doors and the windows squeak and our ceiling kept moving when the wind was too blowy.

Price and location
Was a bit old fashioned

Not much to like, other than the impressive frontage that hides a whole matter of sins behind it
Not much of a welcome at reception after a long day. Told someone else had already checked into my room, asked about lifts to take all my luggage to the second floor, told promptly there weren't any ... not much help. Hotel is in desperate need of renovation and the price should reflect that but that doesn't excuse customer service

The rooms are large and beds very comfortable. Buffet breakfast was excellent, Great location for attending events at Goodwood. Reception staff very friendly and accommodating.
Service at Dinner was atrocious and attitude of restaurant manager very poor.
3.5
Staff were polite and friendly. My son has allergies I was very impressed how detailed the breakfast buffet was with detailing present allergens and having alternative milks.
Nothing
3.5
The staff could not have been more helpful, they were polite and willing to go that extra mile and nothing being too much trouble
The building has seen better days and is certainly showing its age but from what l understand measures are in place to bring the 'grand old lady' up to the 21st century. Having said this we were most comfortable
3.5
It was large, roomy, clean and interesting. Especially the wood-panelled restaurant with all the names of the old head-boys. It is set in a park/golf course where our dog could run around to her heart’s content…although you had to keep an eye out for golfers! Just wonderful to walk in that parkland and let her run without fear of roads. That was a huge plus when travelling with an energetic Labrador! Dog-friendly for sure!
It could do with being painted on the outside. If it was gleaming white (instead of dirty white and cracked paint) it would look amazing in those incredible grounds.
Having to pay extra for a buffet breakfast wasn’t great. We’d just come from a slightly cheaper hotel which combined buffet breakfast with excellent waiting service with tea served in china pots.

We had asked for a twin and were given a double but this was quickly sorted.
The room was comfortable as were the beds.
My husband enjoyed an evening swim in the little indoor pool and the grounds were lovely.
There are no lifts and when the key card didn't work it was a long trundle a couple of times back to reception.
The carpets could do with refurbishing.

Location
Hotel decided to close the kitchen for hotel guests without any warning for lunch and dinner on a Saturday. Drinks served under measure. Draught beer ran out. Too busy and loud even at night. Staff not properly trained to either welcome guests or serve guests. Food not a good value for money. Hotel badly sign posted.

Lovely location.
Great garden
Lovely terrace
Clean room
Parking.
Sauna steam room pool
It is in dire need of redecoration and needs care for the little details.
Ie a rusty tatty bike rack right next to front door.
It annoyed me as the frontage is beautiful.
Out door pool shut :(
Breakfast a bit basic.

Good facilities, the manager was very helpful. Breakfast was lovely.
A little dated in places, could do with a little TLC. A lift would’ve been helpful.

It was so clean and looked amazing I loved it

Nice location couldn't go a walk as raining but evening meal and breakfast very nice. Plan a night a night away from for husband 60th
No ones thought but had to move rooms as rain was coming and was done so quickly thankyou.
3.5
Beautiful hotel in a stunning location. Great facilities and friendly attentive staff. Lovely food and exceptional buffet breakfast . Really nice outdoor pool with sunbeds.
The room was extremely hot and stuffy. Window could only open a fraction. A fan was provided in the room however didn't make much difference. It was an usually hot day.
3.5
Room good, location great for us, breakfast ok, but staff poor at clearing tables and not "topping" up food items as they got taken.
Staff were poor in general, didn't say good morning or ask if everything ok. Did not clear tables at breakfast, or outside seating area, but stood about, had time on their hands. Poor service at bar.
Reception staff were spot on, manager (we think he was) was seen on couple of days we were there (x5 day stay), he was good too.
3.5
Helpful staff, good facilities, nice outdoor seating area.
Disturbance from next door room - could hear every word of a very long phone call late into the night/early morning. Staff did help as best they could.
3.5
Very Beautiful peaceful environment, welcoming hotel with lots to offer and brilliant location for exploring Arundel

Breakfast was good and above standard for an English hotel.Had alternative options to just sausage, egg and mushroom. Had the cutlery and napkins ready on table, did not need to ask for them each time.
