Lovely cottage in a rural setting. Bright and airy inside with great facilities and a big garden. Perfect for exploring the local area. Thank you.

Lilac cottage was perfect for our needs, walking or cycling from the door, great location for us whilst attending a wedding at the nearby Clearwell Church & Castle.
nothing, everything was spot on.

The privacy and the facilities are excellent. Thank you.
The private garden was useful for our dogs
Only 1 point - the raised garden had a high drop onto concrete and one of our dogs fell off onto the concrete. Maybe a small fence on that edge would be advisable. But it didn’t spoil our stay

In the centre of the forest - lots of places to explore

The cottage is delightful. It is very well equipped, there was everything we needed. It was very clean and welcoming. Excellent communication from Lee, our host.
Loved the garden space, which was beautifully kept, and the little boot room for all our walking/dog gear before we entered the main house.
It is a perfect place to stay if you are exploring the Forest of Dean. The surrounding walks were amazing. We all had a fabulous week.
The oven was rather slow to heat up. We were self catering and had a wait a long time for food to be cooked if there were several dishes in the oven at the same time. No big deal and it certainly didnt spoil the holiday, but just to be aware really.

Lilac Cottage is a very cosy, comfortable cottage providing everything you could possibly need for a stay here. We found it very homely with a great shower and it was lovely to sit out in the beautiful garden. As a holiday cottage it was exceptionally well furnished and kitted out with lots of extras such as board games and books. It is very clean and the owners were so helpful when we asked for the beds to be separated. The location is great with easy access to the Forest and it’s walks and visitor attractions. If you are looking to stay in the Forest of Dean I would highly recommend Lilac Cottage.

Beautiful cottage in great location in Forest of Dean. Really well equipped and everything you need in the kitchen. Lovely touch providing tea/coffee and a cake when we arrived.
Check in was super easy with a key safe and clear instructions.
Lee kindly provided highchair, cot and stair gate to accommodate my sister's toddler. Very communicative. Highly recommend.
The convenient free parking space is a little scary to reverse out of onto the main road as it's too small to turn. I think I would prefer to park in another parking area to avoid this, but perhaps I'm a less confident driver! It just made me nervous, especially with my sister and young nephew in the car.
Some salt and pepper would have been an amazing extra touch in the kitchen.

nothing really stood out to me to make me think wow, it was average.
dog poo in the garden which we had to get up
very hard towels
poor lighting in the garden when walking out at night
Only able to watch BBC channels unless you can sign into your own Netflix, Disney account but DVDs available

Lovely, clean cottage, with two nice bedrooms , daffodils on arrival were a lovely touch as were the doggy bits and pieces!
The soft mattresses, my personal preference is a slightly firmer one

We rented both cottages for the night before my wedding. The owners were amazing.... super thoughtful prosecco left for us and communication was really quick. The cottages were spotless, well equipped and really comfortable

What a lovely little cottage perfect in every way we attended a wedding at Clearwell Castle and it was only a short distance away. We hope to return for a longer stay next time. The owners attention to detail did not go unnoticed. Would definitely recommend 👌

Warm and cosy feeling inside. Great outdoor space.
We'd love to stop again in the summer but price is out of our budget unfortunately

Everything! Brilliant place. Fantastic place. Excellent accommodation, has everything you need and more. The owner has clearly thought about everything from cooking utensils, boards games, dvds and picnic set. The cottage is done to a very high standard and caters for everyone. We didn't use the outside area but it looked lovely.
Nothing.

Very easy to find after being given directions from the owner (and also easy to find on sat nav). Parking was easy to find and directly in front of property so easy access foe getting the children and dogs out of the car. Access to the property was very quick and easy. The cottage itself is comfortable and very well equipped. We travelled in February when it was rather chilly but the property was lovely and warm. We had two young dogs travelling with us and was lovely to find some dogs treat for them and beds for our arrival. The only downside I would say is that there is a high ish wall just outside the backdoor so you have to be wary with two hyperactive border collies that they do not attempt to jump from that point. My youngest was only 4 months when we travelled and this didn't cause us an issue but def something to be aware of.
The location was absolutely perfect, within a few minutes of so many fantastic attractions and there are countless walks straight out the back of the cottage itself, you basically back on to Nagshead RSPB reserve.
The owner contacted us before our arrival to arrange entry to the property and also to see if we wanted some wood arranged for the wood burner. This was ready and waiting for us when we arrived which was really helpful as saved us having to locate some ourselves. If we return to Gloucester then we would happily stay here again.
Just need to be aware of the high wall in the garden for dogs (although this did not cause us any issues) but we did need to keep an eye on them when they were in the garden

Great location. Spotless. Comfortable. Easy to get to. Fantastic area. Contact from the owner was swift and informative. We absolutely loved our stay. Lots to see and do in the local area, and a great place to unwind and relax. I would thoroughly recommend Lilac Cottage.

We were looking for a warm cozy cottage with good access to the Forest for walking and an enclosed garden for the dogs - and Lilac cottage was absolutely perfect. The most amazing location with endless walks from the door .. and an extremely comfortable, clean and well equipped cottage.
