Upon pulling into the parking area the owners met us, even Craig who was on crutches. Mary took us on tour and answered everyones questions. What a wonderful home. When we first walked in you had this feeling of home.
All the beds were comfortable. The two living areas were nice but we all seemed to gather in the back living area and dining area. The tidal flow river is in the back yard. When the tide is in you can float, kayak/canoe, and swim. The beach is literally across the street, although the entrance is 2/10ths of a mile. A wagon is provided to haul all your beach gear. There are beach chairs as well.
This beach is protected so except for the river channel there is no current and is calm. For those that want the wave action Short Sands Beach is about 8/10ths a mile away.
The kitchen is very well equipped. The pots and pans were an unexpected pleasure. They were not all scratched up. I could actually flip eggs in the small fry pan. There are all sizes of pans, even a griddle pan, which worked for morning pancakes.
If you don't want to cook the closest restaurant is next door to the north, with another 3 houses to the south.
The wifi worked as it should, even with eight cellphones going at once. Can't say the same for the TVs as were NEVER turned one on.
If you're looking for a new modern condo this is probably not for you. If you want to feel at home in a New England home then don't pass this place up.

Craig and his family have created the perfect place for a family reunion! Plenty of sleeping spaces, convenient to everything, welcoming and hospitable for all ages, and just quirky enough to be able to have many generations together without having to worry about “messing something up”. He and his wife do live on site, and we saw each other for brief check ins in the driveway throughout our week, but they are very unobtrusive and it never felt as if we were being “watched” (which can be the case in rentals with owners on property. Kids (ages 5-13) all had an absolute blast. We were so busy having fun in nearby York and Ogunquit all week, we actually never got around to bringing rental kayaks to the house for launching in the backyard or the fire pit for an evening of s’mores, but both things are readily available (and a reason to come back!). We would absolutely return to this beautiful, cozy home in a heartbeat. Thank you, Craig and family, for letting us enjoy your little slice of heaven!

The location of the house to the areas we wanted to travel to was perfect. Short walk to the beach, quiet neighborhood. Craig was very accommodating if something came up. Definitely recommend the spot.

This is hands down the best experience I have had renting a vacation home. The house was perfect for our large family and Craig was so responsive. Highly, highly recommend !

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with our 4 adult children, spouses and 3 grandchildren. It was a perfect location, near one of the quieter beaches, perfect for kids and while close to all the activities in short sands, was in a quiet, private setting. The house was well equipped and spacious, the owner very responsive and easy to work with. The wagon, cooler, and beach toys provided made it an easy walk to the beach. Would definitely recommend, as long as you are ok with no A/C.

We stayed for 7 nights with various families coming and going. The property location is right in the middle of where you want to be. Great local small beach within walking distance and The lobster pound next door. Having coffee on the dock in the morning is priceless. Will definitetly re rent this fantastic house

There are many pros and cons to this property. Read the descriptions very closely before booking. Especially note, there is NO A/C at all. THE GOOD: Very Spacious. We have a family of 11 and the home has 6 good sized bedrooms, the downstairs is spacious and everyone felt happy with the space. The first floor has a room for guests who cannot climb stairs well. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need to make meals and the oven is a good size. There are inexpensive fans in every room. Many indoor plants. The beds are comfortable and the bed linens were clean. There were two bath towels per bedroom and they beach towels for our family. The location seems very safe and is close to Cape Neddick local beach. It is not an easy walk to Short Sands beach for kids, but we found paid parking in York most days. They have a wagon, cooler, and chairs to take to the beach. The dock is peaceful and the kids loved the hammock. There is a fire pit with chairs so it was nice to have s’mores. Parking was easy for 3-4 cars. The owner lives on the property, and maintained his distance so we still had privacy. THE BAD: Bugs, bugs, and spiders. The home had many daddy long leg spiders on the ceiling and the walls. There was a huge spider web and nests in the outdoor patio on the side of the house. There were many ants spotted through the home. There were earwigs that crawled on the upstairs master bedroom bed one night. The upstairs master bathroom had a large spider that ran behind the radiant heater and multiple small bugs were in the tub one night. One room had an infestation of baby spiders that just hatched and were dropping all over the bed and climbing the wall and ceiling. I never said a thing about all the bugs until I saw the baby spiders on my daughters bed and I freaked out. The owner did buy bug spray and had it for us the next day which was nice, but they have a serious bug problem at this home. The home is old, and they need to probably increase treatments to once a month and cut back the plants from the sides the of the home. There was also a significant amount of dust under each of the beds, radiant floor heaters, and sofa. Also, it should be stated on the listing that there is a cemetery in the back yard. No A/C made for a couple miserable days for us at is was over 90 degrees. We did love being together and cherish the memories, but wish it had A/C and less bugs.

Our family came in from Arizona, Vermont, Massachusetts and Maine!! The house was in a perfect location, inlet for fishing and beach for sand-time and cool water. The house fit us all and comfortably. Craig was a great host!

We rented Craig and Mary's property for our family vacation. `The house is lovely, and we had everything we needed and more. The kitchen is well-equipped, so our family meals at the big dining table were a delight. The gardens are beautiful, and Craig and Mary were friendly and helpful when we had questions. We had two toddlers and an infant, so the nearby beach with warm tidal pools was perfect. At high tide we kayaked and swam. This vacation was a dream for all of us.

Wonderful home and property for relaxing in. Owners very accommodating and friendly. Everything was in walking distance, including the beautiful uncommercialized beach, lobster pound and fun things to do in the nearby town. All fourteen family members thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Our large family group experienced the most perfect week at this lovely home, located in the most perfect spot. This home is so accommodating for large family gatherings and allows for everyone to have their own space indoors or out. We enjoyed everything about this special location. Conveniently located and even accessible to walk into town or the beaches. The dock is the perfect spot to start and end each day. Thank you Craig and family for the opportunity to stay in this beautiful home.

Great house for large family gatherings-plenty of bedrooms and a nice family “suite” on the first floor! Very close to a great tidal pool beach and about a mile to Short Sands for boogie boarding; short back-roads drive to Perkins Cove in Ogunquit

The house was roomy, comfortable and we were 14. We used the master bedroom downstairs as my wife uses a walker. Only several steps to get to first level. Master bedroom upstairs was first class. Son and wife and youngest stayed in that room. Kids used Kayaks and paddle boards and had a great time. Being able to enjoy the water and have a short walk to a beach was a real plus. Traffic in the summer and beach crowds were avoided. Nice to have the next door neighbor available if any problems or questions.

This was a very special week for us in Cape Neddick… we were celebrating the wedding of my daughter, the 3rd birthday of my granddaughter and a family reunion. TIDEWATCH more than satusfied all our needs. Craig was attentive, the house was perfect and we loved the location. Hoping to rent again next summer, for two weeks! If you need a 6 bed/4 bath rental, this place is awesome…the backyard is beautiful and zen and a short walk from beach. What a gem!

We gathered at the end of the summer with our family and some friends. This house accommodated our group very well. The configuration of the house is good -- even with a large group, we never felt crowded. Craig was responsive and very helpful -- easy to deal with. His house is comfortable and decorated with an eye for creativity and color. The kitchen is very well equipped. The backyard is peaceful and a wonderful place to just relax or gather to play games. The dock is new and is really nice. At high tide, the scene is idyllic. Know that at low tide the water is gone.We really enjoyed our time there.

This is our second time renting this house. And we love it. The location, the house, Craig as the owner, you can't beat it. We will be back!

This is our 2nd stay and certainly won't be our last. We opened the door and experienced the immediate rush of emotion associated with "coming home" ... we had such fond memories of our previous stay. The sense of familiarity and welcome. The house has plenty of room to accommodate families of all sizes and ages. We played games, grilled, and took full advantage of the backyard firepit. The kitchen had everything we needed and we cooked at home most nights - low country boil, lobsters, burgers & sausages ... Everything we needed was available to us.The proximity to downtown York makes it easy to walk to the shops & restaurants. Options abound! Our favorite was Inn at the Blues - fun vibe & great staff. Lobster in the Rough was also highly recommended. York Beach Brewing Company (cornhole!) and Wiggly Bridge Distillery were also great additions to support local business and explore local libations. If you're interested, you can also explore any number of local breweries within an easy drive. We got kayaks & paddleboards from South Maine Kayaks - Stefan even delivers! - and used them every day. Jumping off the bridge was still a big highlight for all the "kids" in our group. This house has everything you need to have a great family vacation. We'll be back!

Craig’s house made everyone in our group of 11 happy. The kids loved fishing off the dock, the adults loved relaxing on the dock and not having to haul everything to the beach every day. We were happy just relaxing there!
