About this house rental
This lovely single family home is located just one house back from Tybee Island’s Back River beach and is a wonderful place to relax with family and friends. Enjoy sea breezes from spacious wraparound porches, views of Little Tybee Island and beautiful sunsets. Access to the beach is only a few feet away! Tucked away from crowds in a quiet residential neighborhood, the cottage is only a short stroll from the larger oceanfront beach, restaurants, shops, and the parade route.
The house is very bright and open, with cheerful colors, an abundance of windows, and views of the water. Sliding glass doors in every single room, except the dining room, lead to 10' deep wraparound porches. With over 1,300 square feet of outdoor living space, there are multiple sitting and dining areas on the porches, including a coveted top floor hammock! The best place to clean up after a long day of fun in the sun is in the outdoor shower, which has hot and cold water and is conveniently located next to the gate to the beach.
The fishing pier can be a little busy on weekends during peak season, but privacy fences and mature trees, including a beautiful old oak in the front yard, help make the house feel secluded. As one guest put it, it's like you are in a large tree house!
While staying here it is a treat to watch beautiful sunsets over the water from the porches (especially in the winter), walk out the side gate to the beach a few short steps away, relax in a chair on the sand or stroll around the front beach to see the action, kayak across the river to Little Tybee Island (a paradise in itself!), be close to restaurants and shopping but far away from the crowds, watch dolphins play in the river... the list goes on!
Neighborhood: This end of the island is the best... Somewhat undiscovered part of the beach in a residential neighborhood, with commercial activity near enough to walk to (by beach or road). It is also a very convenient spot to nose your boat up to the beach, have friends hop on board and take off to explore the surrounding waterways and uninhabited islands.
Getting around: It’s fun to tour the island on bikes, golf carts, and kayaks (guests either rent or bring their own).

We loved our stay on Tybee Island! This was our first trip to Tybee and I'm sure it won't be our last. The house was perfect for our family. I always look for the "4 C's" when going on beach vacations...Clean, Comfortable, Cool, and Close. This spot had all of those. Steps to the creek-side beach and an 8-10 minute walk from the ocean-side beach...less than 10 to the main area with shops and restaurants and such. The house itself was the perfect beach-style house. Lots of light with plenty of room for everyone to spread out. Plus, there was almost as much room outside on the porches as there was on the inside. We ended up using the dining room table for a puzzle and eating outside on the porch for dinners and inside at the kitchen bar and breakfast table for other meals. Communication with the owner was fantastic (we had no concerns during our stay, but she checked in anyway and I'm sure would have been right on top of any issues we might have had). Really, just a beautiful house at a beautiful beach!

We visited Tybee while my daughters was at SCAD summer program. We enjoyed time with my husband's two brothers, wives and teenage children. We all truly relaxed and enjoyed the home, beach and biking. The location is spectacular!! and the home is beautiful and welcoming!! We cooked, had family dinners and enjoyed family games. Lasting memories were made. We are planning our next get a way to Tybee with hopes that the Anna Mia Cottage is available.

This was a very nice property and a close walk to the beach. The home is beautiful, with large rooms and plenty of space. The home was fully stocked with plates, cups, silverware, pans, etc. There were also beach chairs, umbrellas, kayaks, and other items we were able to use. The host stayed in communication and contacted us prior to arrival.
The only thing to keep in mind is we learned you cannot have people park on the grass or unpaved driveway (we had family staying elsewhere park their for going to the beach). Nor are you allowed to have many guests over. The host did communicate about these items with us and was easy to talk with. I would recommend staying here.

We came in for our son and his wife's baby shower in Savanah. It was a perfect get away for my wife and I, her 2 sisters and brother, his wife and our other son. Quite an eclectic group. We had plenty of space to be together or apart. We played ping pong, walked the beach, grilled burgers, at at the Wylde and did a puzzle (Thanks Susan). We will be back.

Great property close to the beach with convenient beach access and fishing pier. Beautiful porches with a great breeze and view of the water and sunsets. Plenty of room for everyone to spread out. Nice bathrooms and bedrooms. More noise from the side beach access and the construction on the property in front of us than we anticipated. Stove/oven was slow to cook. Would stay here again.

We had an amazing time! This was a great place to stay for our competition weekend. Short drive to Savannah and less than a block from a nice walk on the beach! We will definitely stay again in the future.

The house was fabulous. Great location to everything especially the beach. Susan was kind and quick to respond. The house had everything you would need for a few people or a large group. The porch was our favorite spot. One of the nicest rentals I have stayed in and the house was also extremely clean.

A group of college buddies gathered at Tybee to celebrate an old friend and absolutely loved this property. Everything was just as advertised and the owner was extremely pleasant and communicative. Great house, great location, plenty of room and outstanding porches!

We needed a 5-bedroom house for our family to attend a funeral with very little time to book one. Found this comfortable house that perfectly fit the bill. The ocean proximity was a nice bonus and the little ones loved the stash of beach toys. Comfortable, clean with lots of shady porches, it suited our needs perfectly. Susan could not have been a kinder or more attentive hostess. Looking forward to our next stay there - minus the funeral of course!

Our small group of college friends greatly enjoyed a reunion weekend at this property. It was our 2nd time here and we hope to return. Great location near beach and fishing pier, very comfortable, awesome outdoor deck spaces, and terrific sunset views. Owner is very responsive and helpful.

We were so excited to stay in the house from seeing the pictures and it was just as we had hoped. Lots of room to spread out, bright, clean and spacious. We especially loved that there were a lot of beach items we were able to borrow.

Great space for extended family. Close to beach and activities on Tybee Island. Just 30 minutes to Savannah.

Anna Mia is a fabulous house and was the perfect place for our family of 11. The family room and kitchen are very large and everyone was able to be together here or spread out in one of the many seating areas on the magnificent porches. Susan was an awesome host and answered lots of questions about the area and gave great tips. We would definitely stay here again.

We had a wonderful experience in this close to beach front property. It fit our needs for our family (including two babies) and was well located to walk to the beach or into town to grab a drink! The host was also very responsive to all questions and needs. Would recommend

Close enough to shops but far enough away to be quiet. Nice walking the beach on the quiet end of the island. Loved the porch life!!!

We had the most amazing stay. The house is in the best location on the whole island. Would come back again in a flash.

Our multi generational family was so comfortable at this house. We enjoyed the proximity to the beach and all the small personal touches left by the host (a few Easter goodies for the kids even!). I would definitely recommend.

Susan was so helpful and kind throughout our entire experience! I had the very best 40th birthday possible with six of my girlfriends who were all overly impressed with the Anna Mia property as well as the entire island. We loved the charm of the interior and exterior of the house, the proximity to the fishing pier and beach, the porches, and the beach and water toys available. Thank you, Susan, for sharing your gorgeous home with us! We can't wait to come back!

Beautiful home!
Location was great. Far enough away from the night life to be quiet but plenty close for an easy walk to shops, restaurants and the beach. Home is beautiful and easily accommodated our family gathering. Owner was easy to get ahold of and made sure we had everything we needed. We loved our stay.

Great location and well equipped house
Our family had a great time in Tybee Island at this house. It came with everything you need for cooking, playing, and beach days. The walk to the beach and restaurants was short. The owner was fantastic at communicating and making sure our stay was enjoyable. Would definitely book here again!

This was a family vacation to remember
As a mother of 3 adult daughters, 2 sons in law, one 17 year old granddaughter and her 17 year old cousin, plus my girlfriend, this was quite a nice home to accommodate all 9 of us. The amenities were well appointed, the proximity to the village was very walkable, we could see the beach easily. It was a very short walk to enjoy the almost private beach. Loved it.
We loved parking our three cars in the garages.
The host was available any time we texted.
The older ones were in their 70’s, the kids were in their 50’s, and the teenage grands had no trouble with all the stairs. If you are looking for an elevator, look somewhere else.
We loved the peace and quiet of the whole island. The shop people were friendly and prices were reasonable. We went to the top of the Tybee Lighthouse and loved it.
Two different days we discovered Savannah. It was only 25 minutes away.
We’d do it again, loved every minute.

Anna Mia Cottage in May
This cottage is perfect for a family. Lots of space and eating areas. The cottage was clean and had a well-stocked kitchen and bathrooms, plus an outdoor shower. It was an easy walk to the inlet and not a bad walk to the Atlantic if you have a wagon to pull all the kids beach toys, etc. The cottage even has many beach accessories you can use. My grandkids loved all the books that were available for them to read. Plenty of adult books also. The weather in May was perfect for the beach as well as eating outside on the deck or just relaxing with a book or family. I will definitely come back here.

Great House, Terrific Location
This is the second time we have stayed at this wonderful house. The property itself is laid out perfectly with a spacious kitchen and open living area with generous outdoor decks facing the water. It's location is terrific as well, being just a few steps from the beach. Susan, the property owner and manager was a great communicator, both responsive and helpful. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Home Base for 50th Birthday Getaway (Group of 5 adults)
Perfectly located along Back River Beach. Walkable to restaurants (e.g. Pier 16, Fannies, Stingray’s, etc.) and shops (e.g. the beachy tourist shops, Fat Tire bike rental, etc.). On the quiet end of the beach (which we wanted and recommend). Fantastic deep porches make for perfect spots for morning coffee, evening dinner and/or cocktails. All rooms except for the foyer, dining room, and bathrooms open directly onto a deep, covered porch. There’s one bedroom and one bathroom on the lower level. The master suite, 3 bedrooms and a full hall bathroom are upstairs with the laundry room. There is plenty of furniture in the family room for a larger group to sit comfortably together. Note the house is second row with very limited water views next to public parking (very small lot); however, palm trees around the house provide privacy on the lower porch. As other reviewers have mentioned, for these rental rates, the property could benefit from some furniture replacement and general updating and maintenance. That said, the house was clean and functional and completely met our needs. As with any rental, if you plan on cooking a lot, bring any specialty items with you. The owner, Susan, was extremely responsive and helpful as we planned our trip and was kind enough to mail back a phone charger left in the bedroom. Check-in and check-out is easy. Linens, bath towels, beach towels, hair dryers, and hand soap pumps are provided. Prior guests left ample dish detergent and trash bags for us. You provide your personal toiletries and paper products. Great place to call home base while exploring all Savannah and Tybee Island have to offer. If you plan to dine at any signature restaurant in downtown Savannah, make reservations prior to your trip even if visiting during the off or shoulder seasons. When I asked Susan for a private chef referral, it turns out her next door neighbor, Meredith, is a private chef. We asked Meredith to prepare my 50th birthday dinner including appetizers, cocktails and desert that we chose to enjoy at the dining table on the porch. We all agreed it was the best meal we had all week on island or in downtown Savannah. We absolutely recommend Meredith!!! Fat Tire Bikes on Butler Avenue provided bicycles for us. Leo will take care of you and schedule both delivery and pick-up of bicycles. Be sure to take advantage of the bike path and ride over to the lighthouse and Marine Center. We also rode around at sunset to tak

Clean and convenient to beach
Anna Mia beach house feels like you are visiting your Nana's full-time residence. It isn't modern and brand-new, but it is clean and comfortable. It's also located at a quiet end of the island, with an easy walk for a 3 year old to get to the "beach" on the river with his 63 year old grandparents! We were in Savannah for a baptism at the Cathedral, but would have enjoyed a whole week in summertime. The only advice for other guests is that it is quite a drive to decent grocery stores, so do that on your way in! Thank you Susan for sharing your family's home!

Amazing Place to Stay
Had an amazing week with the Family in this Beautiful home.!!! What a great location... steps from the beach and very close to the shops and restaurants. The accommodations were very comfortable and more than adequate for 9 adults. Susan Met us upon arrival and was very available and communicative. We will definitely utilize this place for our next Family trip to Tybee.

Tybee Island family vacation
My number requirement is the house be clean and this one was spotless. Home owner Susan called us the day of check in to go over everything with us and leave her contact info. There was a welcome note left for us on arrival. Kitchen well stocked and home nicely decorated. Two level porches were great and offered a partial view of the river. Nice hammock to relax in. Access to beach by Tybee river only 3 min. Walk and Atlantic Ocean beach about a 10-15 min walk. We really liked the beach on the river water much calmer and could paddle board and kayak and fish. We took bikes and rode the bike route several times. We took day trip to Savannah and did the trolly tour. There are several good places to eat on the island. The only down side to our stay was it rained a lot but can’t control the weather. Would definitely rent this house again.

Fantastic vacation getaway
Anna Mia Cottage was everything we were looking for in a vacation rental and more. Just a few steps away from the beach and a few blocks from the shops and restaurants-everything was easily walkable to get to.
The cottage had ample space to comfortably house 8 adults. The back porch and upstairs balconies had amazing views of the beach and waterfront.
Susan, the property manager was easily accessible, incredibly hospitable and even left us fresh home grown tomatoes to devour.
We'll definitely be coming back :-)

Great value for the price
This is a GREAT property for the price on tybee island. The house comfortably fit our group of 8 and had room to spare. It isn’t the most updated and modern house, but it has all the amenities you need for a great price. Also we loved the location on this side of the island. It’s not nearly as busy as the strip and the beach is a few area out the back door. For a bigger beach you can walk to the point in about 5 minutes. All the restaurants are also a 5-10 min walk away.
The check in and check out process was a breeze. Highly recommend this location if you are looking for a relaxing week long trip to tybee with friends and family.

Great location- easy to the beach and Savannah.
Eleven of us stayed a week in this lovely house. Susan was wonderful to work with. House is well stocked with enough dishes, cooking supplies abs dishes for our whole group. The beach and Back River is steps away which was great for taking sunset photos, kayaking and dolphin watching. Easy walk up the beach to the Atlantic side if your looking for waves. Savannah was an easy 1/2 hour drive - just beware of weekend traffic on the bridge over the weekends.

Great Family Time!
Anna Mia cottage was a great fit for our family get-together with our children and grandchildren. The house is very spacious, and with 5 bedrooms and plenty of hangout space in the main area and porches, all ages and interests could be accommodated. Our only regret was that we couldn’t stay longer!
