Rooms could be better for the price.

The first impression of the hotel is good, the location is perfect.
Many, many begging (stray) dogs on the property. Most enployees did not really care about the guests, except for the tall guy working at the bar and one of the receptionists. The room, the pool and public toilets were dirty. The bed was queeking a lot, almost falling apart.

right across from playa negra. very large spacious rooms
no AC only fan but we made the best of it

breakfast is really god
price vs facilities, i think it is very expensive for a room without air conditioner, no tv, poor internet. Location is good but no recommended for families with children because bar is open with high noose until late at night.

I liked that this was a full facility property located across from the beach. Staff were all really friendly and helpful. Beautiful pool...yes you can actually do laps! Very nice to have a fitness area as well which was well equipped. On going maintance was evident. Very nice new patio/bar area by the front of the property. Food was good.
Were not able to stay in one room the entire stay. They get lots of tour groups on for one or two nights. Really nothing to much to say negatively.

The hotel is really pretty - with a lot of birds, iguanas, frogs, agoutis.. Directly next to the rooms. Location right by the beach, with a great pool área, nice café, Restaurant and Bar and good stuff to explore around walking distance for a couple of days.
Staff was nearly all over very friendly.
All over the staff is very young and should get a bit more of a gastronomic education - walking around kind of blind and unorganized - always very friendly - but there are always dirty glasses, dishes and so on around. The ROOMS got cleaned every day but werent really clean - we had a lot of insects, spiderwebs (which were there for a bit) in the room. Not too bad - but a bit careless work.
BREAKFAST Was not good for the Standard the Lodge tries to offer. Everyday the same dish. When there were a lot of people at the same time you needed to wait for about 45-60 min for a cold dish, because the 2 staff members were to less for the mass of people and there was no structure in their work at all (dish came, but we didnt have any cutlery, bread came 20 min after we finished the rest, staff taking order twoce but in the end both forgot). It really would be better to do a Buffet for the waiting times and as the Quality of rice beans, eggs and toast really was not good (cold dry and tasteless)
ECOLOGICALLY there is a lot of space for improvement - too much Single-use Plastic, capsule coffeemachine in the room, changing towels every day, lot of rubbish round the place.
It is a FAMILY HOTEL and durin the day there are a lot of loud people and Kids by the pool. We also were unlucky and were there over the weekend where all the area is really crowded, means pool, beach, Restaurant, and they do a Reggaeton Party on Sundays where you might not be able to sleep until late after midnight.

4.8
Amazing hotel with a very nice pool. The breakfast is very delicious with an egg station and a lot of other things.
Great staff, very friendly and helpful!
Also, we saw a lot of animals there :)
In comparison to other hotels in the area a bit pricey, but worth the money!
