Location and age/history. Safe & secure parking for my motorcycle the complex & huge metal gate
The drain in the beautifully tiled shower sadly smelt a bit. But I appreciate the property and drains are nearly 100 years old !!

The hotel itself is beautiful old colonial building with a lovely garden. The staff is very friendly and accommodating.
We wanted to book a nice hotel to treat ourselves after hiking Acatenango. Therefore, we booked this rather expensive hotel. This was not the right choice. The room was very noisy. We were staying in room 12A and could hear everything that happened in the hall as well in both adjoining rooms. Also good to know: breakfast is NOT included. They make it look as it is, but you have to pay at checkout. The WiFi is also so slow that you can’t even open an email or read the news, forget about watching a video or making a videocall.

Great location and great staff. Cute design. Nice bathroom.
The staff had disappeared for a few hours in the early morning as we tried to checkout. Dimly lit public areas for early departure.

lady at receipting was lovely
Terrible mouldy smell in room. No mosquito wire on windows. Tiny bathroom the size of a broom closet. No bottled water. But the worst was the “included” breakfast, what a disgrace. Terrible coffee, stale bread and cheapest cereal, that was it. If you wanted anything else then that is extra cost. I even had to ask for some butter and preservative for my toast. Guatemala is blessed with some of the best fruit I have ever eaten, however the Hotel Aurora managed to get some very tasteless fruit.

For a continental, it was ok, you have to get up early because it runs out

The staff was extremely friendly and quite helpful. The hotel grounds are quite lovely. There’s a manicured garden in the center courtyard. There are chairs everywhere to enjoy the garden as well. The shower was great. There was ample pressure and plenty of hot water to go around. Lastly, the bed was extremely comfortable. If you can get past the noise on the street, you will rest well on the comfortable bed. The hotel is at a great location and there are plenty of food choices near by.
First, I had a room next to the street which meant I heard all the street sounds which made it difficult to sleep. If you stay here, make sure you request a room that’s not next to the street. Honestly, because of the layout of the hotel, I’m not sure you can avoid being next to a street. Second, the hotel allegedly has internet access but after connecting, there was no activity as well. This day and age, internet is important to people so they need to get that up and running. Third, the room stay comes with complimentary breakfast. I read it in the reviews prior to my arrival, but being there really made an impact. The breakfast is disappointing. It consisted of limited fruit, bread, cereal, coffee, juice, and water. It left me desiring more. And they do offer more, but for an additional fee. Third, the room was a little stuffy. There’s no air conditioning, but there was a window. Leaving it opened help.

We truly enjoyed the location of the hotel - it is very central to the colonial town, which is SO walkable and charming.
We liked the history and charm of the hotel, as it's a colonial building from the Spanish colonial era, it felt so cool and historic.
The bedroom was perfect for a recently-married couple - big king size bed, cool tech, Wi-Fi and lastly, a great bathroom!
Lastly, the price wasn't bad, considering the location of the hotel. Make sure you call ahead and reserve a parking spot!
The biggest disappointment was the breakfast, which was included with the reservation. We were expecting something more Chapín style breakfast, so eggs, beans, plantains and tortillas, but it was rather disappointing fruit slices and small orange juice. We didn't even get world famous Guatemalan coffee! Anything outside of fruit and orange juice, you had to pay a la carte. That was very disappointing, considering everything else about the hotel stay was pleasant.
In addition, as the stay was for a family member who recently got married, when we requested additional changes to the bedroom's presentation for the married couple, their presentation was a little lukewarm. More attention to detail would be appreciated.

Location and above all the staff! Special thanks to the lady in the front desk who helped us with our tour to the volcano and made our experience 100 times better.

The location of Aurora is wonderful being so close to the center of town. The inner gardens are lovely and welcoming. We were granted an early checkin on arrival and allowed to leave our car parked after checkout until we were ready to leave.
The room is very stuffy and being on a busy road we were unable to have our windows open at night due to noise and privacy. A fan in each room would be a quick solution. The breakfast was ok to get us started but you have to pay extra for things like eggs.

Location was perfect. The room was large and comfortable for my family of five.
The breakfast was ok. Fruits, bread & tea were provided. Menu with pancakes was additional but nothing special.
