Good location. Informative about places to visit and what to see.

Zeer vriendelijk personeel, prima en goede ontbijtservice, 'Full English Breakfast' on request.
Het hotel moet gaan sluiten ivm hoge leeftijd huidige eigenaar, kamers basic, sanitair op de gang, bed wel prima.
Geen restaurant of bar meer, alleen uitgebreide ontbijtservice.

This is a conveniently located hotel with a good breakfast. The restaurant had nice food for dinner as well.
Rooms 3&4 are over the pub, which can be noisy, earplugs or not.

I liked the food, breakfast and dinner done with local products and well prepared. I like the simple kindness of the owner. The price was also quite good. All very correct indeed.
Frankly, I dont know! Maybe the hamburger was too cooked.... But otherwise, it is a very good place.

the rooms were quite dated, the pillows were uncomfortable and our shower broke during our stay.

Everything, The room we stayed in (room 7) was spotlessly clean, had everything you needed. The evening meal and breakfast were absolutely delicious. Lovely fresh, high quality, and cooked to perfection. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend this place.
Nothing not to like.

The people in particular Helen, the Chinese lady who worked the breakfast room, as well as Anne Marie who tried unsuccessfully to get the radiator to work in our bathroom. The adjoining restaurant is very good indeed and well worth eating there. The breakfast was fine with Helen doing her best to fulfill our orders. She was a breath of fresh air and living very far away from her home town of Guangdong in China. The breakfast was fine with kippers available.
The radiator should have been in working order before we arrived. However, the staff made a great effort to get it working but it needed Lee to fix it the next afternoon. They could not move us to another room because they did not have another matrimonial room. Instead they suggested that we could shower in another room as our bathroom was very cold without the radiator working.

Easy to find. Room and bathroom were clean. Staff okay.
Enormous amount of noise from the restaurant from arrival at 7.30pm and into the morning. Loud music, singing and shouting from downstairs and shouting in the street until 1am. Had to put headphones in to try and drown out the noise. Groups of people smoking outside that you have to walk through to get in. Did not feel safe leaving my car there. Can hear full conversations happening at reception through floor early in the morning. Breakfast only served from 8-9am and no option not to pay for it. Far too late if catching the early ferry. Wifi signal too weak to be usable.

Being in different times with pandemic, we were only people staying, however Ivy the owner made us very welcome and relaxed. Which is what we were after. You can see in normal times it would be a hive of fun and activity.
Food was to a very high standard.
I would recommend, you stay at the Smithfield Hotel if you are in Orkney.
