The ryokan is very well organized, everyone is focused on providing a superior customer experience. I selected Yorozuya because of its beautiful onsen but I came away with outstanding memories of the kind and helful staff, the amazing breakfast and dinner experience.

a real Japanese experience.
a little too much food.

Honestly the place could have been 10/10 but I feel that it would be unfair after staying at similar property called Hotel Shoho which is a far superior ryokan / japanese style hotel than this hotel. The food is really fantastic in this hotel and most of the staff, the housekeeping etc are of a top caliber and even most of the front desk are good except one staff.
It seems they put Japanese and foreigners on separate floors. Perhaps their guests are not comfortable with foreigners or maybe the staff or management are not comfortable. Also, some of the front desk staff are really nice but one in particular, an older lady, was not nice and seemed very impatient / seemingly angry when we were checking out, not at all what you would expect from a ryokan of this caliber.

Amazing getaway with next level service, onsen facilities, and dining experience. Their nightly keisekiryori and daily sprawling Japanese breakfasts are some of the best kept secrets of the Yamanouchi area.

You can walk to the Monkey Park in about 40 minutes. The on site onsens were very nice. The included meals were excellent and served the best Wagyu I ever had.
Was a larger Ryokan so that detracted from some of the charm.

outdoor onsen is beautiful
the property requires restoration . its aging. consider to setup a good proper japanese breakfast and dinner .

beautiful restored ryokan. got the family room which was spacious doe 4 people. outdoor baths amazing.
a bit further from town that requires a 10-15 min walk at night to get get to center of shiba Onsen and public baths.

Wonderful traditional Japanese hotel with a fantastic onsen (hot bath). Our rate included very tradional Japanese breakfast and dinner, an amazing experience. We wore typical Japanese robes while in hotel, a nice touch ! Very clean and tasteful decoration. Our room was transformed in evening from a sitting room to sleeping room by the staff. Close to trainstation and a few restaurants nearby. Within 1 mile is the city center with beautiful old style narrow streets and many restaurants and more. The famous snow monkeys are about 3-4 miles away. We walked, it took us 1 hours or so. There are 2 ways to hike there, either side of river. Refreshing and a wonderful hike. The staff drove us to train station when leaving, for free of course and tips are not accepted as is typical in Japan.
All was perfect.

The bath / onsen is large and its wooden structure is well maintained. Futon / bed is clean and comfy. Breakfast and dinner are amazing. Staffs are very helpful although they might not be fluent in English.
There is a construction opposite the hotel. It is noisy during the day and might be like this for a year or two. The room is not that well kept and has some dirty corners.

the food is really good and local, the Momoyama onsen is quite unique in its design and overall the staff will do their best support even with a little bit of English

Close to yudanaka station - the onsen was jaw dropping at night, and we enjoyed our dinner and breakfast course meals a lot. Service was great, and I appreciate the lift to yudanaka station the day we checked out.
The rooms were a bit dated and the lighting wasn't the best. Price was also a little steep

The onsens were amazing and omg, the food!!
The only thing they can improve is payment methods, they’re a bit traditional. Make sure to pay in advance!

the exceptional staff and the Onsen was amazing. I definitely recommend going to the older, more traditional bath. The snow monkey park was easy to reach. Overall we had a very relaxing experience.
nothing!

Staff attitude good and helpful.
Facilities a bit deteriorated.Food quality not matching the price tag.

Staff were friendly, dinner and breakfast were delicious, and the hot spring baths were jaw dropping
Private bathroom felt fairly old but one comes for the hot spring bathing anyways.
4.6
Real Japanese traditional experience, nice and calm place.
The Onsen was closed for cleaning between 9.30-14.00 so we missed half of the experience. The staff did not tell us about this, very poor information and none English speaking staff. We were confused and nobody could either explain or help us. Very frustrating!
