The host was lovely and a wonderful cook, the Japanese breakfast set us up for the day. The accommodation was traditional Japanese, homely, comfortable and very clean. The Jack Russel dog was brilliant surprise and really cool.

Really feels like staying at someone's home! Wonderful host who is always looking out for her guests. Cozy warm rooms and common area. The "dorm" still feels like private rooms since you get your own divided space. Great location close to the train station and you get a ticket to the onsen by the station (open until 9pm).

this traditional japanese style house is being run by a lovely lady who made us feel very welcome. You really feel like at home. Perfect for a group of friends or a family. Great food. You should definitely eat here.
We stayed during August

The house itself is amazing and the owner is very nice and helpful.
However, because it’s an old house the walls are basically paper, so you can hear all the conversations. Some people (old guys?) wouldn’t keep quiet after 22:00, so if you want to sleep early, it might be difficult.

It was very clean and the owner was very thoughtful, welcoming and kind.
The room is on the second floor and the toilet is on the first floor but it wasn’t really a big problem.

The location is very convenient if arriving by train - only a few minutes walk. Also restaurants within walking distance. If arriving by car/motorbike there's a few parking spots.
Seki-san, the owner, is extremely friendly and helpful! She also cooks a mean (japanese-style) breakfast, highly recommended :)
The shared room is split into private rooms using a big divider and even so there were only 2 beds, not 4 as advertised, so definitely less "hostel" and more "hotel" - no bunk-beds here!
There was some light coming into the room from the hallway - it might be useful to bring an eye-cover if you're sensitive to light in the room. To be fair, I was too tired to do anything about it or to talk to Seki-san; I'm sure something would have been done if I'd asked!

After a long day of travel from Tokyo we were welcomed into a beautiful and very clean hostel that felt very peaceful and cozy. The owners were extremely welcoming and kind. We enjoyed sleeping on the futons in a tatami room and the views were beautiful. I only wish that we had more time to stay and explore.
