Good value but staff could be more welcoming and smiling g !
Room allocation on arrival and upgrade next day where TV not working well was badly handled by reception ?
4.4
The bed comfy, the rooms have a nice decor and there was very helpful staff at night.
The bathroom door did not close
The coffee machine leaked water over our stuff
Shower temperature control needed to be held in place with one hand whilst showering
Other issues with room allocation made what was meant to be a nice anniversary trip a bit humiliating. Not an overall pleasant experience

Hotel and location are beautiful. Right in the heart of a quaint little market town with shops, pubs and restaurants within a 2 minute walk. Room was spotlessly clean, well equipped and staff were extremely friendly.
The room we were given was directly above a wedding reception which made it very noisy. Would have made much more sense to put one of the wedding party in this room! A late, noisy night was topped off by staff starting the clean up operation directly outside the window moving barrels and chairs at approx 6am!

Very central, good restaurant.

An amazing historic restored building in the centre of an amazing small town with great walking around small narrow streets with independent shops.
Some bedrooms had steps in them which were difficult to use as elderly will fall over them.
Pavements were uneven in the street and my wife tripped and went over on her ankle.
Shortage of staff to serve breakfast and to take luggage to / from bedrooms.

Loved view over high street! And the plenty of drinks available in the room and bathroom soaps etc
Only there wasn’t a hairdryer but remedy was super fast😀

Doesn’t feel like an anonymous chain hotel, lots that gives the hotel individual character.

Location in Market place was v g although parking in Alma in pouring rain meant I was drenched on arrival.
Staff without exception were excellent and receptionist kindly took my small trolley case when showing me up to my room.
Cooked breakfast was good but rather sad looking poor selection of cold items e.g just a small bowl of diced melon and pineapple, yoghurts and juice.
Evening menu was quite limited but food was good.
Room was cramped and noise up to midnight (lorries , deliveries, idling cars, banging noises) and early morning from outside my front facing room kept me awake

Excellent breakfast, great central location, friendly staff, nice decor
I was in room 208. My room was boiling, especially at night, and while I was grateful for the 2 fans, they weren’t particularly effective sadly. My main bugbear was the ill-fitting blind on the smaller window next to the bathroom. It wasn’t effective at keeping the light out so I was wide awake at 5am with a very bright room. If I’d have known I would have brought an eye mask. Would they consider including one in the room?

location room breakfasts
first night when arriving late told kitchen closed at 830 a 20 minutes before. No effort to offer any food at all but ok to bring in takeaway. Next night tried to order food at 7:50 and told kitchen closes at 745 and absolutely no offer of anything and didn’t even check kitchen. was never told the kitchen closed at 745 and generally unhelpful.

Location, food and staff.
Not cheap & the music played downstairs comes through the floor in room 105, which is annoying. Also, our neighbour left their door open, which triggered a continuous alarm at 7am, which woke me up. It's hard to blame the hotel for that, although I don't see the need to have alarms on the doors.

In room good quality toiletries- less single use plastic. tea and coffee was great with free divine chocolate bars and tea bags (no decaf tea). pack of cards in the room and a tv. lounge area was absolutely gorgeous! decor was opulent and peaceful. great location- right in centre great shops and cafes on doorstep. Christmas lights beautiful. Josies cafe next door good for breakfast!
small room. no parking. small breakfast. thin duvet- we asked for a second and room service bought it up no problem - shame the original was so thin.

the location and the decor. Attention to detail in the room i.e pillow mist, music on upon entering and the hand written note on the dressing table. Oh and the rubber duck in the bathroom.
Not their fault, but there’s no lift so had to use stairs with 3 bags, a pushchair and 2 year old in tow.
