About this house rental
Come and enjoy a getaway from the busy world to a quiet home in the woods. You can enjoy the large gathering room overlooking a beautiful pond that is surrounded by trees. Take a ride on the paddle boat and throw your fishing line in to catch catfish, bluegill, and wide mouth bass. Eleven acres of trails make for a nice nature walk. In the cold , you can enjoy your cup of coffee by the fireplace that's in the large room we call, The sanctuary. In the hot summers you will be able to go swimming in the pond. If you enjoy kayaking, we have a kayak you can take out and experience a relaxing time on the water. This is not just a vacation home but it is a vacation destination. This is a getaway for any seasons. The Brown County fall season is something everyone should experience and this the perfect property to take it all in.
Guests will enjoy staying at our place The Sanctuary. We have a beautiful house where each bedroom has its own bathroom. The gathering space is a great place to relax, look out the windows and door by the fire. Take your drinks outside to the large porch and deck. You can sit in a rocking chair or have dinner on the large table on the porch. We live close to a Dollar General. Nashville is a 10 minute drive and is full of shopping, eating and exploring.

We r a group of 4 couples who recently stayed in the aptly named “Sanctuary “ for a 3day, 3 night yearly get-together. The property is very beautiful & relaxing with the pond & sweeping back yard providing excellent views from the 2 porches. The home was very accommodating, well stocked and clean. 4 bedrooms & 4 bathrooms. Super easy checkin and out, seating for all 8 of us whatever room or area we were in. Large kitchen for cooking. The owners were extremely responsive. This was the perfect property for us to rent!

The home and property were beautiful and peaceful. The layout of the house was perfect for 6 adults. Plenty of space for everyone. Clean, comfortable, well stocked and maintained. Location is just 10 minutes to town but still tucked away. The covered porch was perfect with a great view of the lake and property. We all loved it and would definitely go back.

The hosts were incredible, the house was incredible. I really can’t put into words what a great experience we had. It’s all thanks to the hosts. We can’t thank you enough for everything and we plan to come back next year if you’ll have us.

The Sanctuary is an amazing rental. Four bedrooms, four baths, a pond, a playground, and more. The hosts are very attentive to detail and responsive to little problems that might occur. Very highly recommended—but save me a return date!

The property is so beautiful and we all loved the house. There were 9 of us staying there and the house is very spacious with areas for toddler play time, card games, dining, a very nice kitchen and beautiful living room that has gorgeous views of the pond and woods. The boys had a great time fishing too. They caught blue gill, catfiish and we think a crappie. We all had a wonderful time.

We had a wonderful time at The Sanctuary celebrating Christmas with family. It was spacious and beautifully-decorated. The great room was perfect for gathering everyone together to open gifts and watch a Christmas movie. Mary and Josh were were great hosts and were quick to respond to any questions that we had. We would definitely stay there again.

Wow… if you are thinking about going to Brown Co, IN, you definitely want this place. The most clean place I’ve ever stayed. The whole setting was absolutely Perfect! Would definitely go back.

Having an awesome time is an understatement. I cannot explain in words of how magnificent this property is. From fishing, kayaking, paddleboats, wrap around porch with lots of chairs, grilling, and a beautiful pond. The views are breathtaking. This was our first stay here, and it most certainly wont be our last. If you're in need of an awesome time, along with a weekend getaway, "The Sanctuary " is where it's at! The owner's are awesome as well. We didn’t get to meet them, but I felt like we did just through the VRBO messenger. Again thank you all so much for everything.

The house and property is beautiful. We enjoyed fishing the pond and the pedal boat. The bedding and towels were clean and nice. I did contact the owner about the cleanliness of the home. The clean team are cutting a lot of corners. The owner lives out of town and was unaware. She was apologetic and said she would take care of it for the next renters! Otherwise we had a great time!!!

Our stay at The Sanctuary was wonderful! There were seven of us and there was plenty of room. (Something to note, the bunk room beds are better suited for kids and not for adults with back problems). The sheets were soft and the beds were comfortable in the bedrooms with the big beds. There were plenty of bathrooms so no one had to wait to shower. With two sitting areas and a large dining area, there is plenty of room to visit, watch tv or play games. Lots of games are provided in case you forget to bring some. The kitchen has lots of dishes for eating and cooking and a nice grill outside. Outside is a generous front porch with rockers and a swing that make soaking up the sights and sounds of nature the best part of the day.
Outside is a nice play area and at the ponds our group did lots of fishing and canoeing. There is a nice big fire pit. I would suggest bringing your own things for starting a fire. There is plenty of things for kindling but no way to cut it. There is a lighter and sticks to roast marshmallows provided. The hosts proved a wonderful basket with s’mores ingredients as well as syrup and pancake mix.
We would come back to the Sanctuary 100%. This is a great place for family get togethers, small retreats, board gaming groups or girl’s weekends. You won’t be sorry!

This home was a perfect fit for 8 long time friends to be together with the large living room, spacious kitchen and a wonderful porch with plenty of seating. Very clean and well cared for. The hosts were quick to respond to any questions. Highly recommend this rental!

The home and property were beautiful and exactly as listed. Plenty of space, well maintained with everything we needed for our stay. We truly felt like it was a great getaway place with plenty to inside and we totally enjoyed exploring the outside property. Owner was very accommodating with great communication. We would definitely recommend and absolutely go back for a second stay.

Stayed March 2023. Property just as advertised, super clean, and lots of much appreciated technology for a remote area (Direct TV satellite + more, great wifi). Felt recently updated/renovated/addition. Very large - could easily accommodate a large 5-7 person family or 2-3 couples, though we enjoyed the extra space just for the 2 of us and our dog! Would highly recommend and stay again.

Four friends and I decided that we needed a girls weekend and this home was the perfect place for it. With a ton of bedrooms and seating options at both the table and in the living room, we were able to hang out in comfort the whole weekend. The house was immaculate and the kitchen was well stocked allowing us to cook dinner and breakfast. We decided that this would become an annual tradition and we look forward to coming back again next year.

We really enjoyed our Christmas here. There was plenty of room and very clean. The hosts communicated with us when the weather took a turn for the worse. The property is beautiful and we can’t wait to come visit in the summer !

We rented this space for our sons wedding. We have had some surprises with VRBO and The Sanctuary did not disappoint. Very very clean spacious and comfortable. Our grandkids are begging to revisit in the summer. Location is also awesome just a few miles north of Nashville IN. Josh & Mary thank you for maintaining such a beautiful home for others to enjoy. This property is absolutely amazing. We had 7 people in our party and we had more than enough space. This was the most stocked VRBO I have stayed in. We all fished, relaxed, played games and enjoyed a fire around the fire pit. I would recommend this house to friends and family. Book this home you will not be disappointed.

Could use a hand rail to dock. And extra batteries for all controllers. We ask for a replacement bulb and smoke detector battery and they came over right away. Consider calling someone about pond management, blue hills are a bit stunted. All in all a great stay.

Perfect place for our sibling reunion!!!
The Sanctuary is a wonderful place. It was exactly what we needed to enjoy our sibling reunion "back home again in Indiana". The home was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. We enjoy fishing, floating/paddle boarding but most of all sitting on the porch in the rockers and watching the incredible fireflies every night. The only issue we had was the temperature in the home must have been on a schedule and would get cold at night. We tried to set it back above the recommended setting but it would always drop back down. We absolutely loved the place and would highly recommend it.

We ended up being a party of 6 instead of 9, so there was more than enough room. The grounds were beautiful and drive from Nashville was no problem. Lots of gathering space. Would definitely stay there again.
