Pinewood Haus is a modified A-frame, named the Li’l Cabin in the Woods during the infancy of Big Bear’s evolution to a ski town. Built in 1968, this home remains an architectural icon of 1960s Big Bear and a peaceful, all-seasons mountain retreat for friends and family alike.
Ideally located on a quiet cul-de-sac in the desirable Fox Farm area, within minutes of Big Bear’s ski resorts and village, Pinewood Haus is central to all of Big Bear’s attractions and conveniences while offering the blissful feeling of seclusion. Easy access to local routes helps you avoid peak season traffic.
Pinewood Haus feels warm and charming, bringing you back to days gone by. But don’t let the nostalgia fool you - this well-maintained cabin is cute, comfortable, and full of modern conveniences. Enjoy high ceilings, plentiful natural light throughout, a corner fireplace to set the cozy mountain mood, and central heating to keep you thoroughly toasty. Mountain breezes whispering through the pines cool the house in summertime. Settle into that warm cabin feeling by streaming your favorite shows on the Smart TV or utilizing the complimentary WiFi. Other accommodations include a handy washer/dryer located off the hallway from the vintage kitchen, which is fully appointed with appliances, pots, pans, utensils, coffee makers (drip and French press), a kettle, and a grinder. The private bedroom on the main level features a queen-size bed, while the open and airy loft offers two full beds. The retro living room has full-size sleeper sofa. The bathroom is simple and features a large walk-in shower.
Outside, commune with nature by spending time on the quaint wood decks. The front deck faces the quiet neighboring homes, with flat easy access off the cul-de-sac (there are no arduous driveways to get to Pinewood Haus - a bonus in the winter months). The back faces the pines in the 12,600-square-foot open lot.

We enjoyed our time away from reality. The cabin was warm and inviting. Well appointed-we even baked! Played games and watched movies. Thank you!

This was such a great place to stay! Super clean, very cozy vibe, in a quiet neighborhood! Washer and dryer was a huge plus after all the hiking and lake activities! Cant wait to stay here again!

We loved this cabin! Definitely would return. Karen is great to work with, great location! We rented a boat & caught tons of trout, mountain biked, ate great food, and enjoyed cooking and lounging at "home." The neighbors are all super friendly and we discovered bonus beds hidden in the loft, making this a super comfortable stay for our family of six. Can't wait to come back. Big Bear is great I'm the summer- who knew???

The cabin is very nicely put together, updated and very comfortable. Really enjoyed our stay. Nice place to unwind after exploring the area. The fireplace is perfect!

Arrived and found the place had not been cleaned. Extremely disappointed. No one ever showed up all weekend to rectify. Vacasa support was helpless. Bring your own everything--not enough paper products or cleaning supplies. Disappointment all around.

We loved our stay here it’s at the center of everything. Had an amazing time with my kids and celebrated my daughters birthday. It was so accommodating. Slept like a baby!

We visited in the Spring and were escorted up the mountain by the gorgeous blooming Scotch Broom lining both sides of the road. It was like discovering a goldmine and a must see! The cabin was perfectly located on a quiet culdesac: with a front porch to enjoy the birds and have coffee in the mornings, and super comfy beds with layers of comforters and pillows for the nights. We recommend both The Broadway Cafe (order the deep fried potato balls) and Get the Burger (super friendly staff ). We will be back!

The inside is esthetically pleasing.
The kitchen has everything needed to prepare a nice meal, maybe a little bit more light in the kitchen would be nice. We liked the floor forced air heating providing uniform heat in the cabin.
The lot is large and the cabin does not feel squeezed between fences.

The place was clean and organized, exactly as it appeared on the listing! Communication with property management was quick and simple! Stocked well with everything we needed for a few days away from home. The loft offered plenty of space for our kids to sleep and the backyard was a good space for them to play around it as well! Would definitely recommend this place!

The photos of this place are really good, and we used the 360-view feature to get a great tour of it before we arrived so we knew more or less what to expect. What we discovered when we got there was that the owners (or perhaps the property managers) spent a lot of time on all the small details that make a rental truly top notch. For example, there was a HUGE selection of games to play, and there were power strips next to all the beds because they know that everyone has at least one or two things to plug in at night.
It's located very close to Vons which was very convenient, and it was definitely close enough to "downtown" Big Bear.
One tip... If you prefer a softer bed, make sure to tell everyone in your travel party that you want the downstairs bed. It's REALLY soft while the two beds upstairs are considerably firmer.
We had a great time there and highly recommend it!

Cute A-frame, nice for a small family
Had everything we needed for a stay with two elementary aged kids. Clean cabin, great yard to play, quiet neighborhood, comfortable beds, smart TVs, board games, colorful motion-sensor nightlights. Kitchen is well stocked with lots of dishes, pots/pans, gadgets. Love the mix of mid century and cabin decor. Would definitely stay here again!
