About this cabin rental
The possibilities are endless in this fully furnished rustic and unique log cabin. You'll never find another cabin with unique features like this one has in East Tennessee. The cabin is less than 5 miles from everything but also has a country charm and feel. Its located in the beautiful Lynn Valley area of Elizabethton TN, a highly sought after area that the Watauga River flows through. Enjoy your morning coffee on the front porch looking out at the peaceful pond right out front. The two pond fountains sound amazing and add tranquility. This one bedroom one bath cabin has been meticulously maintained and is always meticulously cleaned and rental ready. 5 Blocks from the Watauga River, some of the best trout fishing in the entire country is feet away. Wireless internet, Samsung 75" Ultra 4k UHDTV with surround sound, 42" HDTV in master bedroom, excellent cell service (AT&T), outdoor fire pit/ grill combo and a Charbroil electric grill. The futon in the den will sleep two more (double bed), master bedroom sleeps two (King). Dish Network satellite HDTV service with more than 200 channels to chose from.
Update: 8/3/2023 The cabin was just re-stained, as well as the wood around the pond, 15 green giants were added, 30 led landscape lights, and landscaping timbers, as well as the fire pit.
We updated the entire cabin in 2022 with all new leather furniture in the den. We used a local interior designer to give the cabin a complete makeover. The leather couch has two recliners, plus there is a single leather recliner. All of the ceiling fans and outdoor light fixtures are brand new. The bedroom was updated with new flooring, paint, new king size bedroom suit and decor. We added a 24,000 BTU HVAC mini split system for heat and air, which is very quiet and comfortable. The mantle is an amazing piece of artwork that looks like museum. We also installed a 5 x 10 dog kennel behind the cabin with a dog house. We added landscape lighting around the cabin as well as solar lighting around the pond. It is amazing at night! The cabin features unique trophy heads including a Moose, Red Stag, Deer, Antelope, Turkey and Fish. The trophies were shot by William Crawford who built the cabin in 2005.
Its an incredible location at the base of a mountain, and it faces another mountain. There are no cabins next to you or behind you, and a huge field for dogs to play in. The cabin has a brand new metal roof and was just re-stained. The pond gets water from a newly installed solar pump and the pond fountain is also powered by solar energy. The pond was completely rebuilt in the fall of 2021 and spring of 2022, with a brand new liner and new wood all the way around, stained to match the cabin. The old fences seen in some photos have been removed and soon green giant trees will be planted along the roadway. Please don't throw trash or any debris into the pond. The best fishing is 1000 feet away on the Watauga River. You can park at Riverside Baptist church and fish the river anytime except during church hours.

Great views of the mountains yet still close to town. Every detail at the cabin was first class. Property manger was quick to respond to any questions. Clean, well maintained cabin.

I was attitudinal my best friend with this cabin. The description and picture made it seem secluded and on some property.
Nope, not at all.
This cabin is in the middle of a neighborhood, with neighbors staring at you all the time. The pond sits next to the road, along with the campfire and picnic table.
The description states large grass area for dogs to run but its just 50 feet across and probably 200 feet long with 2 rails of farm fence. The back yard 15 feet by 400 long but with electrified wire fencing. Only if your dog is great off lead would i recommend letting them run here.
There is no hiking behind the house because the property up the mountain is owned by the neighbor behind the cabin. The cabin only sits on about 1/3 acre
I found the pond fountain drowned out our conversation. At night the lights around the pond bring in so many bugs, mosquitos, and spiders. Another chore from the rules, clean porch of spider webs & bugs.
Plan on only 2 people using this cabin. I was going to use the futon and the owner questioned me hard for my choice. It's heavy and didn't look comfy so my friend and i did end up sharing a bed and when he snored too much i slept in the recliner.
I personally didn't appreciate all the fees in this rental that doubled the price. The cleaning and linen fees were at such a high price for such a small cabin. Because after following all the rules and checkout procedures, we ended up cleaning the cabin.

We chose Elizabethton for its location, close to where we would be fishing the Watauga. This cabin was close to town and our guide for fishing. The cabin was tucked away, providing a nice spot to relax. The cabin is very clean and stocked with everything needed. The pond and trout in it were fun to watch as we relaxed on the porch. We loved this rental! Highly recommend!

Everything was as described and reviewed. Perhaps even better. My wife, son, and I were in town to watcythe Midwest Modifieds race at Bristol Motor Speedway. Staying in this cabin was so much better than a hotel. From feeding the fish right from the porch, petting the horses in the back yard, and watching the folks fish in the river with fly rod and reel. It was perfect. We also took a short drive to Blue Hole Falls. Beautiful!!! My wife relaxed in the cabin that was clean and wonderfully decorated. We all had a great time! Thanks Mike!

My son and I had such a special getaway in this lovely cabin in Tennessee. It was even better than we anticipated! We began each day with coffee in a front porch rocker taking in the scenery and fresh air. My son loved the fire pit and the well lit pond out front. Our dog loved the space to run and play, and he definitely was intrigued by the neighboring horses. The amenities are exactly as described, and we had everything we needed to feel right at home. Mike is an incredibly responsive, thoughtful, and friendly host. We cannot wait to return…Perfectly peaceful!

My bestie and I were supposed to attend a scrapbooking retreat that got canceled and decided to come down anyway. We chose this cabin with no regrets. We gained some sweet horse friends with apples and carrots and thoroughly enjoyed the serene view and night sounds by the pond. The cabin was clean, comfortable and well maintained by an amazing host. Thank you Mike - we will be back soon! :)

This is a very beautiful cabin with plenty of space inside. It would be perfect for a group, but also cozy enough if you just want a little getaway for 2. There's lot's of places to eat and grocery stores close by if you need anything. The owner was also very accommodating.

Mike was an excellent host. Responded quickly to any questions that we had. The cabin was super cozy and very clean. This was a perfect get away location. My husband and son enjoyed making a snowman for the first time being that we live in Florida. Absolutely amazing/beautiful firepit area out by the pond that we enjoyed nightly. Was sad to leave. Will definitely be back. Thank you for all the great memories.

Our dog enjoyed it, as well -- he was obsessed with watching the horses in the field next to the cabin.

I am obsessed with this cabin! When we pulled up on the property, I told my husband “they are going to have to evict me - I’m not going home”. Then we went inside. Oh my gosh. The pictures do not do it justice. The decor is incredible and makes this perfect mountain cabin even more perfect. We were greeted with soft music playing and the electric fireplace glowing. There is nothing more relaxing than sitting in the rocking chairs on the porch overlooking the pond and fountain. There are gates on the porch so your children or pets can’t roam off. I enjoyed watching the fish feed daily in the pond when the feeder went off.
Added bonus #1 - the cabin is in the middle of a horse farm. We enjoyed watching the children that were taking riding lessons. All of the horses were so sweet and calm, and beautiful!
Added bonus #2 - we were able to bring our Basset Hound with us, and she had plenty of room to roam. She wasn’t sure about the horses - she had never seen one before. She liked them as long as they didn’t pay her any attention. She took off running if they came to the fence to see her!
Most important added bonus - your host, Mike. He went above and beyond to make sure we had a wonderful stay. He is very easy to get in touch with and extremely helpful with information and suggestions about the area. He even hooked us up with a fishing guide for a float trip down the river.
If you are visiting the area, do not miss the opportunity to experience this amazing property.

We loved this cabin. My husband and I were in town to fish for a few days. We floated the Watagua and it was so convenient, I was able to hop off the boat, walk a few minutes to the cabin and let our dogs out for a potty break before hopping back on the boat to finish out our float! Close to grocery stores and food too.

The cabin was immaculate! It was everything we could have asked for. Furniture was comfortable and the AC was blowing cold to make our stay that much more comfortable. We brought both of our dogs and they loved playing outside in the yard that had lots of room. The horses next door were and added bonus and very friendly. Mike is a great host and is easy to get a hold of and extremely helpful with any questions you have. From fishing spots to restaurants and hiking he had all the answers and you got them immediately. Would highly recommend this cabin

My son and I had a guys fishing trip and I found Black Bear Cabin. It was a great find! Mike ensured we had everything we needed. The cabin is located in a very quiet neighborhood and conveniently located to grocery store and restaurants. The pond in front of the cabin with the fountain made the evening very relaxing sitting out on the porch in the rocker. Looking forward to staying on our ne t trip.

We loved this cabin! Not only was the cabin immaculate and the pond beautifully lit up, the owner is awesome! Excellent communication any time we had any questions. We had a intimate wedding there, standing by the pond. We will never forget the wonderful weekend we had there and will definitely go back on our anniversaries! We highly recommend!

The cabin was beautiful and very relaxing. Well equipped with everything or anything we needed. Very well kept. Furniture very comfortable. Linens and towels were clean. The pond with its fountain and landscaping were awesome with all the lights Mike, our host, what can I say. He’s the best. Any questions or concerns, he answered promptly. Very informative and full of suggestions of what to do in the area. We will be back. Thank you Mike and Eastern Tennessee for your hospitality

The cabin was immaculately clean. The photos in the listing were spot on. Our host Mike provided everything we could ask for tips for local dining suggestions for outdoor adventures, and communicating with him was easy and he was very friendly.
We brought our small dog, and the beautiful property was perfect for chasing the ball. The inside of the cabin was decorated in normal cabin attire, and felt inviting and cozy. The cabin had everything we could need for a weekend away.
The furniture was comfortable and updated, the linens were lush and comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with all of the essentials to cook there. The AC ran so well that we had to turn it up a few degrees as the rooms were too cold, but coming from South Carolina. It was a blessing I have zero complaints about our stay and we are already planning our next visit to this wonderful location and will book this cabin again. The area and the grounds were well kept, but we did not have other people right up on us. We were looking for something private, but not secluded. Thanks again to our host Mike for the hospitality and we will see you soon.
