Heron Point Cottage is clean, comfortable with a beautiful view of the lake. It is well supplied with wood for the fire pit and is a great place for star gazing. Perfect for a couple or small family.

If you could recommend another location that close to the lake

It was our 25th anniversary. 25 years is diamond. This lake view cottage was a true gem!! Clean and bright. Lake view was breathtaking. We will be back.

My husband and our friends truly enjoyed our weekend at Heron Pointe Cottage. Lovely home, beautiful view - it was a refreshing weekend we will cherish. Our host was very helpful and available.

Perfect location for a weekend getaway. Really enjoyed using the fire pit and the kayaks on site.

This property fit all our needs. The kitchen was well-stocked, the bed was comfortable, and cottage was cozy. There is a restaurant a couple miles away as well as a grocery store. We were there to fish, so the proximity of the boat ramp to the cottage was perfect. We have already booked this property for our Spring trip.

We've stayed at this property before and enjoyed our time. We have a boat and access to the lake is very convenient and easy. Has all the essentials and is a nice place for a small group to get away to Lake Anna.

Overall, the property is well decorated, it was generally clean, the kitchen has what you need with nice appliances, and the host was generally responsive. We enjoyed the visit to the area and the location worked for our needs. The kayaks were nice to have and we did make use of them. We are grateful for the opportunity to rent this property at a time our family, with our small dog, needed a getaway and it served that purpose and was convenient to the lake and local restaurants.
However, rentals are a business and we feel it necessary to share our experience. We did run into many friction points that really stacked up and this review is a reflection of our cumulative experiences. Most of the issues were not worth a phone call or simply were a bigger ask than an immediate fix. Some were just visual detractors from the total experience.
The house is not as close to the lake as the description might imply but it is a super short walk. You can see the lake water from the property which is nice but you really don't “experience” it from this distance.
The house is right off a paved road as well as a gravel road for a boat launch. For being described as a quiet location, there was quite a bit of traffic over almost all 4 days we were there. My family even remarked at this without prompting. Much of it was related to the boat launch. However, the evenings were generally peaceful with no traffic; mornings and days a little less so. There was also some unexpected road work related to tree cutting and disposal - that was just bad luck on our part.
The little beach was a nice touch for the kids, but when we arrived there was a big rotting fish carcass next to it. It did not look like it was something that may have washed ashore but rather discarded perhaps by a boat launch user. With the beach listed as a feature, I expected some rudimentary property management around it. The kayaks served their purpose and really were nice to have available - but one is in need of repair as the seat was broken - but usable.
Both storm doors had issues. The main entrance door has a bent rod on the pneumatic closer which caused issues with the door closing. The front storm door has seal issues that allow a lot of bugs to enter. This lead to needing to leave the solid doors closed all trip and did not give our dog a place to look out and watch the outside as she prefers to do when indoors. The main door programmable lock failed twice to unlock, fortu

We enjoyed a few days here for a long weekend. Visited LA State Park (20 min) and walked some trails there, went to LA Winery (15 min) and The Boardwalk (meh). Everything we needed was provided including linens, soaps, paper items.

We had a wonderful time visiting Lake Anna. The cottage was so quaint and cozy! The cottage was clean and well equipped. Our pup was especially at ease with the treats provided. The property is located near a cattle farm so it was neat to see the cows in the morning and evening and play on the lake during the day. Just a few items to note, previous guests left coffee grounds in the coffee maker. Front storm door had stripping falling off bottom, door didn’t want to stay closed. Trash receptacle outside didn’t have a lid, filled with rain water and worried it would attract critters. Grass was tall upon arrival, however it was cut next morning. Need a good weeding/clean up around the house and decking. The view from the deck is gorgeous and access to the water was so convenient! Worked out awesomely with our jet skis and swimming for the pup!! I was surprised that the boat ramp/launch was public, maybe my misunderstanding from the listing, more traffic coming and going on the weekend in the driveway, some driving too fast! The private beach was shared with neighbors who are residents. They were super friendly and we spent our time out of the water setting on the cottage deck so it was fine but again, from the listing, impression was “private”. We would stay again!

Beautiful little home next to the lake. Very clean and well maintained. Wonderful setting.

Everything about this listin is accurate. The cottage was exactly as listed. We had a fabulous time. We live at the beach so being at the lake was a great change of scenery. We were close to family in northern virginia so Christmas was celebrated 3 times!! The cottage is located in a quiet part of the lake and is perfect for 4 people. The beds are super comfortable. the kitchen was well stocked. We were able to enjoy the deck and enjoy the lake views. My morning coffee with the sunrise was beautiful. Our trip was mostly low key however we did eat at Tim's on the Boardwalk. My husband and I both said we would come back to this cottage in motorcycle weather !! Our host Maria was easy to communicate with. 5 stars !!!

This was a perfect little cottage for us, we took our dog Mia and she just loved it too! It was a very quiet time at Lake Anna, very few visitors. Not all little shops and restaurants were open since it was off season. But we enjoyed the peace and quiet. Would go again in the off season. Thank you for sharing your little cottage!

My son, dog and I had an amazing stay at the Blue Heron Cottage in Mineral, Va. The view of the lake from the house porch and little private beach was just perfect and beautiful. We enjoyed using the kayaks while casually exploring the lake. The fire pit was nice to have and the star gazing was perfect, we even got to see the Orionid Meteor Shower. The cottage is beautifully decorated and all amenities are thoughtfully provided, even treats for your fur baby. We had a wonderfully relaxing stay, thank you for your attention to detail!

It is nice to see smaller properties on the Lake Anna rental inventory for those who don't need a large house. It is very clean, everything works, and it has been carefully decorated with lake and nautical themes. Very cute and very relaxing! We appreciate the pet friendly feature as well. They do nice touches like a thank you card, bottle of wine, and snacks to welcome you. It is one of the better stocked VRBO kitchens we've seen. It has everything, even a blender. And they have a variety of indoor and outdoor games too. Thank you, well be back.
One small suggestion: would it be possible to provide weights or sandbags for the patio umbrella stand? The slightest breeze would topple it over, regardless of what we did. And it gets hot out there in the sun. Just a suggestion.

The house was not clean about entry. The host was apologetic and said he would refund the cleaning fee. He completely renegged on that and has not replied at all to my emails asking if he'd consider a refund.
SO DISAPPOINED.

Stayed here for a few days with my family. Very cute decorations, tidy, and very close to the water. Beds were clean and comfortable. Alex was easy to communicate with and quick to respond to emails. The inside of the house was not as clean as expected, ie cobwebs and dust throughout the walls, ceiling fans and lamps, food splatter on the kitchen walls, etc. but nothing we couldn’t manage. Everything you could need utensil wise was in the kitchen, plenty of games to play and things to do. Overall we had a good time!

Nice cottage with beautiful view. Perfect if you had your own boat to bring!

Stay was amazing
Cal had great communication throughout the stay. The house was very clean and had everything that you would need. Kayaks and fire pit were great as well!

Very convenient
My husband and I enjoyed our stay at this property. He was working at NorthAnna Nuclear for the week so this was a very comfortable, convenient place for us to stay. In these days of covid I appreciate being in a clean place that lets me be outside and away from crowds. I also enjoy having a kitchen.
If you plan to stay here during the days of covid restrictions remember to bring your own blankets and towels including any dish towels, bath mat, and wash cloths you may use. Another tip is to bring with you a small container of dish soap. There is a dishwasher and dishwasher tabs provided but , at least during our stay, there was no dish soap in the unit. Not a big deal as there is a Food Lion a few miles away . Just a tip.
Another tip is to always use the vent fan when cooking . The smoke alarm is pretty sensitive and went off several times when I was cooking even though there was no visible smoke. Scared me the first time but after a minute with the door open the alarm stopped. This is actually a good safeguard to protect the house and anyone in it.
I will say that Cal was very easy to work with. The stopper for the kitchen sink was missing but when I contacted Cal he brought over a replacement quickly.
I would stay here again and would recommend to anyone who needs a place in the area.

2 Nights in the cottage
Clean, little cottage with two bedrooms and one bath. Cal is wonderful and responsive as a host. Everything was very clean and new sheets were provided. House is on a property with other dwellings and has lake views. We did not get to enjoy the deck or fire pit but they looked very nice.
4.8
The place we perfect. We did think the front room with the daybed was a bedroom.
Perfect location. Did some fishing and hiking at the battlefield. So much to do. The weather wasn’t great but there are kayaks available for use which would have been really fun.

Wonderful place. Very clean. Beautiful view of Lake Anna from back of house and fire pit. Highly recommend

Everything we needed
The house is a great size and had everything we needed. We especially loved the kayaks and fire pit. From the pictures, we thought this house was ON the lake, but it’s a short walk away. The owner was easy to communicate with and very flexible. Overall we had a great time!

Exactly what we were looking for...
Very nice property... We went to visit and fish in Lake Anna and had a wonderful time. The property is right on the lake and there is a private boat ramp which was perfect for us. Cal was responsive to questions and very helpful...all and all a very enjoyable trip!

Breath of fresh air
We had such a wonderful time in this home and on this property. It's beautiful. The sunsets, fire pit, and lake were amazing. House was very comfy, practical, and had everything we needed. We loved spending time on the kayaks. Cal was a great property manager and communicative. We'd love to return!

Very nice getaway
We really enjoyed our stay and had a great time making s’mores, kayaking and relaxing on the lake. The owner was very responsive.

Relaxing
Nice property. Beautiful area owner was grest to work with. Cooking utensil could be better
4.8
Great location for social distancing
Setting was great for isolation due to Covid 19. The fire pit was nice feature, kayaking was a lot of fun and belongs to the house which was a plus. The downside was the night visitors, a couple of mice turned up for a visit, not what we signed up for
4.8
This was just perfect for us. We're coming back!
