We chose this property for its location to York racecourse. It was easy to find and in a beautiful setting. A nice conversion of old stables.
A bit of road noise if you were sitting in the garden.

We liked the location as it was a quick drive to York but nice and peaceful.
The back door wouldn't open no matter how many times we tried.
The shower glass was screwed in to the bath meaning you couldn't move it. This made it extremely difficult when trying to run a bath. It also meant I couldn't shower my toddler which I was looking to do for quickness and ease.
The amount of spiderwebs in the house was unbelievable. Clearly the cleaner has never bothered to hoover these away. They were EVERYWHERE, even above our pillows.
We had to clean every bit of cutlery, every cup, plate etc before we used them because they were filthy. The limescale within the kettle was on another level and we reverted back to boiling water on the hob for warm drinks. There was also an unpleasant smell in the kitchen.
The shower Thermostat was nothing short of useless. It kept sticking and matter how much I tried, I couldn't reduce the water temperature. Upon standing under the water initially, it was a decent temperature but then all of a sudden it went boiling hot to the point it burnt my scalp and I had to finishing washing my hair in a bath of cool water. The mould within the grout was also disgusting. The grey/black coloured grout helps to hide it but it's still very evident. We came home feeling dirty and unrested. The largest of the shower head could be doing with a thorough clean.
The double bed was evidently 2 single beds and the join could be felt when laying down. It just wasn't a comfortable bed.
The welcome pack instructions within the property didn't match the welcome pack via email. You assume you have access to sky channels given the sky remote but it seems only free view is available ad we were continually asked to enter a sky card.
We won't be staying again when we return to York. It definitely wasn't worth the money and I'm angry I paid what I did given our experience.

Very attractive location with excellent facilities.
Cottage is on two levels and shower is in the bath so may cause access issues for some people.

everything, especially the yard in our place, very tranquil, it’s always nice to take a walk around.

A wonderful, quiet setting amongst beautiful grounds. Our son loved watching the electric lawnmower which he dubbed 'the robot'. Spotlessly clean, cosy, and with special touches (a beautiful welcome hamper and a cleaning kit). Also with skytv, which was the first time ever we've had that in any of the places we've stayed! We loved the design and home interiors- beautiful paintings, artwork and bedding. We especially loved reading about the history and renovation of the property. All in all we loved our stay and wouldnt hesitate to return. Thank you!! Xx

Comfortable and excellent location for our purposes.
Sitting room had not been satisfactorily cleaned. Clearly had been neglected for sometime.

Almost everything! Beautiful location with parking and easy bus travel into York. Good shop and pubs in nearby Bishopthorpe village. Very helpful information folder and lovely welcome hamper. Comfortable beds and furniture and the kitchen was very well equipped. The standard of decoration was exceptional with some beautiful art works. My friend said she wanted to buy the property!
No spare waste bin liners.
Microwave was complicated to use and there weren't any instructions. However, I managed to work it out for myself after making some educated guesses

The surroundings are quite.
The fire sensor went off one night, which appears to be a leaking from upstairs shower room. Water came off dripping from the alarm box on ground floor. It worried us, but it stopped itself somehow. Also there are spider webs outside the entry door which appears not have been cleaned for a long time.

Beautiful cottage really cosy, lovely location! Clean, everything we could have needed, lovely welcome hamper and great communication and check-in instructions thank you! In walking distance to the race course with directions provided in welcome book
Nothing!

Beautiful property and wonderful location.
Main lights in kitchen go on and off at will, back door is extremely difficult to lock, there were cobwebs and the extractor had dust so thick a previous stay had wrote ‘dust me’ in it, I cleaned it!

location close to York university was our main priority
the temperature setting on the shower needs attention as it currently does not move. Also the shower door leaks badly and again needs attention

Clean, quiet location. Nice and tranquil. The house was warm and clean with good facilities. Much better than staying in a hotel because we were able to cook when we wanted to relax. It felt like a home from home. The kids loved the trees and the novelty of staying in a house.
The hoover did not pick up properly and given the lovely soft carpets should probably be upgraded to a Shark or Dyson.

Everything.
No safety gate on the stairs.. problematic for toddlers.

The location was perfect, just on the outskirts of York, so we were able to drive in (7-10 minute drive) and use one of the many car parks in York if we wanted to travel in. The place is situated behind a gate and then it's literally just on the left. It's impeccable, and will happily house 2 couples if you so desired. For couples, it is a very romantic location, and so quiet. You also get 1 parking space outside the property which was ideal for us.
It's only fault is that it's not nearer York, but that's not really a fault, since we liked and wanted the secluded location. If you want to be within quick walking distance of York, I'd suggest elsewhere. If you're after a lovely romantic location just out of the way, seriously, look no further!

An ideal location giving a great balance of peace and quiet in a semi-rural area but with easy access to York. A beautiful, well appointed and very cosy cottage. Well equipped and tastefully decorated. Lots of amenities nearby.
Nothing negative to say. We loved our stay!
