There’s a reason this beloved family home is named Heluvaspot–it's located in one heck of a glorious spot on Port Clyde Harbor. The setting is covered with long, amazing views of the open ocean, Marshall Point Light House, the island beyond, and the inner harbor! You’ll find plenty to do in Port Clyde if you just want to stay put (how about a day trip to magical Monhegan Island?) but if you decide to head out, Rockland, Camden, and Rockport are just a scenic car ride away. And, as always, the Midcoast area is central to must-see places like Boothbay, Bar Harbor, and all the towns in between. Closer to home, walk to the village for dinner, or to pick up lobsters for a twilight lobster bake.

Bike to the Lighthouse or Drift Inn Beach (one of the area’s only public, sandy beaches), then come back home, soak in the private hot tub, and watch the sunset over the spikey, ancient pines of Hupper Island. The front door opens into a small mudroom that leads to the living room, with picture windows overlooking the lawn waterfront. The well-stocked full kitchen offers lots of counter space, perfect for group meal prep. Gather for meals at the dining table, which presents some of the best views in the house. A large dining area is perfect for big meals and can also serve as a great place for putting together puzzles, playing games, or hours of memorable conversation. Find a full bath and laundry room next to the kitchen, while the sitting room off the main living room offers a place to watch the game.

A large lawn gently slopes to a private wharf – think kayaks, swimming, and fishing. No matter what you decide to do, know you'll have excellent vantage points to enjoy the picturesque horizon and bustling harbor.

This is an older cottage in a beautiful location. Port Clyde is a quaint fishing village with a nearby beach-Drift In Beach. Boat rides to Monhegan Island, kayak rental, and day trips to The Botanical Gardens and Camden Hills State park were highlights. The cottage was comfortable enough, though a small investment in a couple of new sofas and some kitchen utensils would be welcome. A picture window frames an amazing view of the water and boats-the view would be even better with a cleaning. That said, Vacasa was responsive to a call regarding a winnows that wouldn’t open. Overall, a very pleasant vacation spot.

We were very excited about our trip to Maine and this home that included wharf and beach access. Sadly, upon arrival, we discovered that neither was possible. The wharf was/is completely damaged and unusable. Literally floating in the water. Vacasa has been extremely difficult to work with and gave us a measly refund compared to the thousands of dollars we spent renting the home. I learned through the process that VRBO does not regulate Vacasa listings. It is up to Vacasa to do the right thing. That being said VRBO has tried to make it right but I am still dumbfounded that VRBO does not hold them accountable for any misleading listing. All that being said, we did really love the home. It is still like stepping back in time. Very cozy with almost everything you need. The deck needs replacing but is still functional. The awning was a very nice amenity, as well as the hot tub. I wish they would have been honest about the wharf. But in hindsight they are a big company and I don't even think they know its unusable and dangerous. In the future I will make sure I do not book any property managed by Vacasa.

Location was great. But need more dishware and flatware. Hot water was out. But called about it. And was fixed the same day.

I am not want to leave negative reviews and I won’t start now, but I will just say that we loved the place and location but communication with this company and the cleanliness, or lack there of of the hot tub, assured me that I will not stay again with Vacasa

We booked this lovely spot primarily for the outdoor hot tub. We were very disappointed when the hot tub never was balanced chemically before we got there nor during our entire stay after repetitive questioning to have someone come and look at it. We ran out of chlorine, and though I put chlorine in every day, the test strips never registered that there was any chlorine in the hot tub, that was extremely disappointing. In addition, the site claims that there is a woodburning stove. However, there was a note on it, that it was not to be used, so that is basically false advertising. Overall, we enjoyed the location the easy walk to the village and the beautiful sunsets, but with the issues that we had surrounding the hot tub and not being able to use the fireplace, I would not recommend this place.

Cute house, cute location but cannot easily put kayaks in at the dock. You are right next to where the fishermen process their catch so one day the water was filled with dead fish and the smell was overwhelming. The screen door needs repair. The beds are great, but the pots pans, oven, etc needed a good scrub, a light fixture fell onto the kitchen sink. The water had a strong iron smell and the local manager said they would get an iron treatment system put in. There is a bit of mold in the shower, some paint peeling on the walls. The awning is great but part of it is super moldy. Its a cute older camp and Port Clyde is sweet. I blame Vacasa and its poor mgmt. This is the second home I have rented from Vacasa from VRBO - which stands for vacation rental by OWNER!! Vacasa is NOT the owner. Sure my comments during our stay will help the next renter- but there is never any compensation for the inconvenience while we were there. We asked maybe 6 times for a late checkout as compensation but the request goes into a que with a new person each time - maddening. My advice is NO VACASA! A machine of agents who really do not care. You wanted my review - here it is.

Beautiful idyllic location to escape to! From the views of the water, the stars at night, the gardens, to the inviting cozy house, this was one of our best VRBO stays. The home layout provided plenty of space for everyone, bedrooms were nice, kitchen and laundry amenities provided were perfect. Be prepared for Maine weather fluctuations including Fog coming and going. The walkway and dock provided great views as well and place to launch kayaks/ paddle boards. Home is near others but you had a lot of privacy still with the gardens and trees around property. Port Clyde is lovely, the ferry service to see sites and islands was convenient , and drive to and from highway 1 provided amazing views as well. Easy to get to Rockland and Camden for day trips or supplies. Highly recommend this property for a relaxing low key family get away. The home’s rustic vibe was just what we were hoping for!

Heluvaspot is aptly named. The rustic cottage fully met our expectations, with everything needed for a great vacation. This was our second visit to Maine, and the mid-coast location can't be beat. Port Clyde is a picturesque fishing village populated by friendly locals. It’s a perfect place for a quiet early morning walk or jog to the Marshall Point lighthouse, or enjoying a glorious sunset (while savoring a lobster purchased off the dock nearby or soaking in the hot tub). Birdwatchers can take in everything from goldfinches to laughing gulls to bald eagles from the deck. An afternoon hiking the spectacular cliffs on nearby Monhegan was a highlight, as was a trip out to see the puffins. For beachgoers, Birch Point Beach State Park, in Owls Head, is worth the drive. Pack a lunch as there’s no concession stand, but the wide, sandy beach is a hidden gem with great scenery. Maybe stop first to spend an hour or two at the nearby Transportation Museum, which exceeded our expectations. For day trips, Boothbay Harbor and Camden are only an hour away; the views from Mt. Bettie are breathtaking. My only caveat about the cottage is the howling we heard on a couple of moonlit nights coming from Hupper Island, which led us to believe the Roberts family are werewolves. But we nevertheless slept soundly, separated by the waters of the Herring Gut and cool sea breezes.
