This cabin is very spacious, clean and stocked with everything you need for your stay! We had a great time in this home and enjoyed the porch each morning with our coffee! Excellent and helpful responsiveness from Derek the entire time… before and during our stay! I highly recommend staying here for your visit to NC!

April and Derek have a very special place at Riverbend. This property is excellent in every sense of the word. Great stay. Will definitely be back.

We had a wonderful time during our stay in the Lake Lure area. The cabin was more than well stocked and very thoughtfully labeled throughout. Very helpful in a house with so many light switches! :)
The beds were very comfy. We would definitely come back!

The property is beautiful and the house was very comfortable. We had everything we needed in the kitchen. The internet was out the days we were there but the host did all he could to try to help us remedy the problem. There were games and lots of places to go to hike and swim so we were fine. When we got up this morning there was no power which also meant no water so no coffee! (augghhhh!!!) We later found out that a tree was down across the lines so not something they could help. Just remember that you are in the mountains so be prepared for anything! All in all it was a very enjoyable and relaxing time with family.

Nice and clean and we loved the area but the furniture was not good for relaxing together as a family. Very small and fragile. Defimitely needs upgrading.

We had a fabulous time at Papa Bear Cabin. The cabin was well maintained, and so roomy. We specifically needed accommodations that were wheelchair friendly. There was ample space in all the rooms and the door widths were perfect. The view of the woods from the porch was wonderful and we appreciated having a space to drink our coffee and eat breakfast in the mornings. The communication from the hosts was 5-star worthy. The only thing I would be aware of is that the driveway is steep and gravel so parking at the top of the drive is preferable. Super convenient to Lake Lure. We will be back!

Although we were cursed with rain for our short trip, communication and attention to detail were superb. The s’mores kit was perfect and a great perk to enjoy with the kids!

Wonderful location and house! Because of some extenuating circumstances that affected our husbands’ travel, it ended up just being my 82-year old mom, me, my sister, and her 12-year old granddaughter, but there is plenty of room for 8 to sleep comfortably. We liked this house because 3 of the BRs are on the main level and mom didn’t have to navigate the stairs. We had been warned that cell service was not great, though even WiFi calling was spotty. We were able to stream some TV the first night, but after that we could never get a reliable connection. It was nice to be unconnected and enjoy some games, plus work a puzzle that we brought. I did notice the cell service down at the lake pavilion was much stronger.
We stayed the first week of June and really enjoyed the neighborhood Lake access. If you want to use the kayak and paddle boards, you’ll need a vehicle to transport them from the house. Also, don’t miss the nature trail with small waterfall just across from the lake access. The pavilion has a wonderful view, built in charcoal grills, tables, rocking chairs, and bathrooms. The roads throughout the neighborhood are unpaved, so be prepared for lots of dust on your car!
The house is nicely decorated with a woodsy theme and all the furnishing are in good shape. It was very convenient for us to have two cards for gate access, and to have a key pad door entry for times when our group split up.
In town, the flowering bridge is a must see! I hope we can come again.

Exceptionally clean & well appointed property. Wi-Fi very sluggish but workable. Nice wooded location but a lengthy & dusty drive in and out. The lake was very nice and the SUP’s made it all the more enjoyable. Overall a 9 out of 10!

Just the perfect fit for us. Size, amenities, clear directions and communications. We had an amazing time!

This cabin is updated and comfortable! And the communication from the property manager for the property was exemplary-prob the best of any VRBO property I’ve ever stayed in, even with a bad weather delayed checkin at 2am!! (We felt terrible). The three bedrooms on main floor are perfect for a family, including someone with limited mobility-almost impossible to find in a mountain cabin. Highly recommend this cabin that also has a great and huge gameroom in basement as well as a fourth bedroom. Even in temperatures in teens, the basement was warm!

Wonderful, well taken care of and included all the amenities we could want. The kayak + paddle boards + tubes were a hit with the kids.

My family and I took a short weekend trip to lake lure and this cabin was just what we needed. It was spacious for the 6 of us and we enjoyed the downstairs game/tv room. The swimming hole and private beach with kayak/sup board were an extra plus being that lake lure beach charges a fee. The property manager was very responsive with any problems that we had. When checking in we had to wait because the directions gave us the address to the home and not the gate house where you have to enter through. The upstairs family room couch could be updated. It was a little small and not the most comfortable for our family of 6. The washer needs to be deep cleaned due to the mold around the door. There was also quite a few of what appeared to be roaches. We lost power on Saturday night when a thunder storm came through but there was some flashlights to use, so be aware if that possibility. Overall we enjoyed the cabin/area but not sure if we would return.

Everyone had great time . We spent a plenty of time at the old swimming hole and the lake. But also made some road trips to chimney rock and sliding rock . The cabin had everything we needed to feel comfortable.

Nice Cabin!
We really enjoyed our stay at this cabin. The cabin is as described, and is roomy and nicely outfitted. Communication was great, and the cabin information provided is clear. Ingles is nearby, as are some restaurants. We were able to drive to Black Mountain, Chimney Rock, and Ashville for daytrips and shopping. Nice place to stay!

Cozy Stay at Papa Bear Cabin
Rooms were clean, property had everything you needed if you wanted to cook a meal or plenty of local menus and info guide to venture out with things to do. Property did not have a tv but does have WiFi for streaming and has plenty of dvds and Netflix and game room if you need to be busy with indoor activities. We had a nice relaxing time.

A wonderful week!
This cabin was perfect for us (my family of four and my retired parents). I have two boys (9 and 11), and they spent a lot of time in the game room playing ping pong, air hockey, and video games.
My husband and I stayed in the bedroom with the window seat, and the bed was very comfortable with soft sheets and a variety of pillow thicknesses. My parents stayed in the room with the larger bed, and really liked their mattress as well.
The house was well equipped, and the property manager/owner was very responsive to emails. My parents had some trouble with the lock on the door, but were able to call and quickly be let in.
We hiked at Chimney Rock, mined for gems in the village of Chimney Rock, went zip lining, and took a trail ride on horseback at River Side Stables. We loved all of those activities.
We ate a meal at the Lake House restaurant and got take out from Lured. Both places were great.
I was expecting a small, podunk grocery store, but instead found a very large, gleaming grocery store with anything you could need.
I would rent this cabin again and again! It was a great vacation!

Well stocked and cozy
This house is adorable and cozy and has many personal touches that you don’t usually find in rentals. It’s clearly well taken care of. Also very well stocked kitchen with everything you could need. Tons of toys, games, movies and books. It’s clearly been updated since these photos and is just adorable. Appreciate the kayak and tubes available for use. Also owner was so easy to contact. I had a problem with the electronic lock and she fixed it right away. An issue with my phone not the lock. Highly recommend!

Family Vacation
This was our second time staying at Papa Bear’s cabin. The cabin was clean and well stocked. My kids loved the game room area downstairs. We enjoyed the lake and nature walk in riverbend. This cabin is conveniently located within a few miles of Ingles and Chimney Rock. We look forward to staying again.

Great family weekend
Our long weekend was a fun anniversary trip with my parents and the grandkids. Set up was perfect for the kids and adults with multiple living spaces, plenty of bedrooms and a big enough dining table for all of us. The beach at the lake was perfect for the little ones and the waterfall was beautiful. We will definitely be back!

Relaxing and beautiful location
We wanted a relaxing place that has some activities nearby for our two teenagers. Close enough to Chimney Rock and Lake Lure for restaurants and window shopping but we didn’t really leave Riverbend. We enjoyed hiking, fishing, playing games and reading instead. Roomy and spacious cabin with all you need and more. Had great cell service so the slow WiFi was not an issue.

Just what we needed
The location is wonderful for our needs. We wanted to be secluded but also not too far from groceries and restaurants for take out. The kids loved the pingpong table, TV and games in the downstairs. We sat on the patios every night and morning. We saw deer every morning and our labradoodle loved running around near the little creek in the backyard. We had a fire every evening in the potbelly stove in the living room. Due to COVID, you need to bring sheets for the beds which is no big deal as towels, pillows and blankets are provided. Make sure and check ahead on restaurants as not all of them made it though COViD. The riverbend neighborhood is also a great place to explore. We took the kids and the dog down to the creek for a little hike, you can park your car near the creek. The virtual lock system for Papa bears was so easy (no stress about locating keys). The beds were wonderfully comfortable. I would totally recommend a stay here. We made some beautiful memories.

We really enjoyed Papa Bear's Cabin.Worked out perfect for our family.Enjoyed tubing on Broad River and sunsets at the Pavilion. We also did some hikes to falls in the surrounding area.
Lake Lure Baptist Church across the main road is a great Church to visit an added bonus in my opinion.
