Comfortable stay. Staff are friendly. We ate in the restaurant and the food was excellent. Hotel is a bit in need of some refurbishment but it was clean.

Dated hotel now but still very comfortable

How stay was good
2.0 / 5.0
Perfectly acceptable and clean. Whilst Indian food in the restaurant may not be to everyone's taste, there is an excellent Pizzeria/Cafe immediately opposite.

Lovely service, they are really trying to do everything well. The room had a bath, great shower, a safe, a fan, decent kettle, the bed was remade every day and all used towels replaced.
The restaurant is highly recommended for a curry.
Parking is really difficult to make out if you arrive in the dark and the carpark is not in good condition but on street parking worked for my stay.

Ideal for a one night stay. Rooms a bit tired but the staff were all nice and rooms clean. Shower not very powerful. Ok for a 3 star hotel

The people who we met were all nice however, the service and cleanliness was very poor. The place is very tired and in need of a refurb. But as well there were things left out all over the place, looked untidy and like no one cared. Won’t stay again. And no breakfast offered at all.

Overall for the price range very good. However a bit more attention to detail could be paid to cleaning. Bed was mattress was excellent however mattress topper was stained and needed deep clean or replacing. Would I stay again yes.

There was no breakfast and it would have been helpful that I was informed on arrrival.

No where ahead of arriving at the property were we made aware that there is live music until gone midnight! We booked this for the night before a charity walk which meant we needed to be out at 5am, safe to say the live music going on until after midnight was not expected nor fun! The room was disgusting and dirty.

The rooms and common areas are very unclean. Ceiling in room is papered, yellowed and falling down. Bathroom taps not working properly, shower control not fixed properly. Furniture very old and carpets are filthy. Needs a major refurb and a very deep clean. Carpets as you walk up the stairs haven't seen a vacuum in a very long time. Felt like I needed to wipe my feet on leaving! Very overpriced for the condition of the hotel.

I didn't like the fact that there was no food, despite the fact that a restaurant was advertised. There wasn't any room service, cleaning, replenishing of cups, tea and coffee. Fridge was filled with mold and dirt. If there was no facility for food, then we should have been told.

Bathroom dirty and in shower in poor condition. Footprints in the shower tray, cleaner when I left.

Just run down. No breakfast when there should have been. Grotty and untidy communal areas, and really nasty bathroom. It wasn’t dirty as such, just awful. The pillows were terrible, we were given two - but together they were about 2 inches high, bed uncomfortable and had a huge base that we kept walking into. - avoid unless desperate

The hotel appears very dated, and very empty! No food service at all, very few guests it seemed and hardly any staff around. The building and room was very tired, a thick layer of dust on the back of the tv and the bathroom very dated. No restaurant service, and the bar was deserted, infact it was shut when I got back at 9.30pm, and the front door was already locked and no staff around at all. The few staff I did see were very pleasant. The car park was horrendously flooded and very dark so almost impossible to avoid the water, and as the back entrance was locked it was a long dark walk around to the front door. This hotel definitely needs a new lease of life somehow!

A short stay but a few observations:
- Carpets on the stairs up to the room hadn't been hoovered in a long time
- chair in room fell apart on day 2. I'd been sitting at it on day 1. Day 2 I went to pull it out and it fell apart. If I'd sat on it I'd have been injured
- thermostat on shower didn't work. It delivered scalding got water only
- mixer on shower leaked constantly. Could only hear dripping. They'd attempted to address this by wrapping a towel around the taps to catch the drips. Problem is when I arrived it had clearly been there a few days and was sopping wet so drips hit with a loud thud
- kettle was half full with water. No idea how long it had been there. Should have been emptied

A good place to stay if you have an early flight from Gatwick airport. The property was quiet and the bed of decent quality. However, the sheets were all creased and they felt dirty. The rooms need a good deep clean and updating.

Surely when we booked we should have been told there was no food available. There are plenty of places to eat locally but we should have been warned

Big room, centrally located in Forest Row (across from bus stop; walking distance to shops and food).
The bar downstairs was really loud one night, and it could have been cleaner. There aren't a lot of options in the area, and this place was fine, but underwhelming (and felt overpriced)

Hotel was good. No evening meal let it down. Would use it again.

5* from A to Z. Friendly professional receptionist.
Great attitude, oriented to the customer.
Clean rooms and free of oddors.
Nice bead and room including the toilet.
A little bit cold for my own taste definitely not so cold as to botter me in any way.
I guess if I was looking was a thermostat on the radiator. Clean hotel with a large free carpark. (As improvement few lights in the carpark will made a big difference for safety of the customer cars and goods ) .
Thank you very much for the acoomodation and I will look into booking this hotel again in the future.
PS : A bar is also available in the premises for whomever is interested in having few beers. (Was not my case this time but is good to know).

Although the staff were friendly and accommodating as much as possible, the state of the room was and the furnishings was not good. From lights not working to headboards falling off in the night and a panel covering a hole that you could see the outside from. No breakfast offered and very little to appeal to customers. Unfortunately not somewhere we would ever visit again.

Old, tired and dirty

Mattress very old

Nice, classic english countryside hotel. Friendly staff and great food in the pub. Extra + for the ample parking behind the hotel. Sidenote: I recommend breakfast at Maria's Café just a two minute walk down the road.

Beware of the live music, there is nowhere quiet in this hotel until 1am. They really shouldn't allow bookings on live music nights.

It did the job for a small group. Plus live band was good

Not very good. In a bit of a state.

Hotel is ok for the price, disappointing that they do not offer breakfast (was not aware when the hotel was booked).
Evening meal was ok unfortunately nothing to shout about.
checkout - had to wait at reception for 5 minutes plus for a member of staff to arrive after I had press the button for attention.

Great stay. Lovely staff. Beautiful part of east sussex

Property was located in centre of village which was ideal. There were however a few issues.
1). The car park is down the street and away from the hotel I didn’t feel great parking my car in there overnight. 2). Hotel has seen better days and could do with a renovation and a new make over. When I checked in to the room the staff did pre warn me about the adjoining pub having music playing but when I came back after midnight the pub was still blasting music and had punters outside being very rowdy. Hotel should definitely be a 2* rather than a 3*. Prices also need to come down for the rooms as I paid too much for an average family room.

I thought the hotel was generously priced considering where it is based.
We were well looked after.

We had a pleasant stop over in this hotel. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The building is rather tired and could do with a freshen up.
3.0 / 5.0
I like the service, the staff provide very friendly and efficient. But the hotel is understaffed. The rooms are nice, clean and spacious. But the room's equipment i.e. lamps, sockets temperamental and could do with updating, disappointed that they can't offer a breakfast service for the price of the rooms. But overall a pleasant stay.

Nice sized room, could really do with a good redecorate but it was clean and comfortable, nice bar with good food and friendly service

My stay was fine the staff were very nice and helpful. My room was clean although some minor repairs were needed. It was probably my fault, I’m not reading the information on your website correctly. I was expecting a breakfast, but there was nothing, not even a coffee or a slice of toast.
I will stay again

The hotel staff all very pleasing and very helpful . The room did it job . It was starting to look a bit tired . Bed and facilities worked okay . A little bit worried about the radiator in the bathroom , the rust on it looked like it was ready for bursting at any time . The restaurant and food was good . I would stay there again . Just need to get the maintenance person working .

Very comfortable room at a very good rate. Only downside was the lack of pressure in the shower but it was fine
