This beautifully designed lodge, on 4000 acres, is a unique experience. 107 free range horses, parrots, monkeys add to the ambience. Large , comfortable a/c rooms, friendly staff, good restaurant ,and lovely pool, make for a memorable stay. Convenient to many sites. Owner’s wife is an excellent artist and has a gallery there. We loved it!

Difficult road to get to resort. Not for cars.
Horse rides are nice, the young guy ranch hands will hit on a daughter.

This place is so very charming. There are horses wandering around the property, they have birds and a jaguar to visit, the swimming pool is amazing, and the cooking is phenomenal. The cabanas have thatched roofs and are older but well maintained and, well, charming. The beds are comfy. The only downside is that there are bugs, but you're in the middle of the jungle, so that is to be expected.

Great experience with the home style meals and getting to know the owners and staff. Rustic and remote which adds to the Belizian experince.

Just a agoer stay. Beautiful location but realize thar the lodge is in the jungle. No other restuarant or services available beyond that provided by the lodge. Saw a young jaguar, many parrots and exotic wild birds to see. Horseback riding available and it would have been fun to try that if we had the rime.

The grounds are beautiful, carefully landscaped with tile-lined paths connecting the various buildings. Great pool, on site jaguar and parrot aviary. The major attraction is on site horse back riding, which we didn't do. But there are plenty of day trips to do--we went to ATM and Tikal, and there are plenty more. Downsides are that it is pretty isolated (15 min off main road) and food is perfectly adequate but not memorable.

Banana Bank Lodge is a very unique get-away. The owners, Carolyn and John made us feel very welcome and are very interesting. They dined with us each night. The food was reasonable and very good. The grounds were gorgeous! Our cabana was very comfortable and beautifully designed. There are horses and parots roaming around the property...very cool. They also have an art gallery of Carolyn's paintings and a small museum of Mayan artifacts in their home. If you love nature, art, animals, and military history (John is a very informative source) or just want some peace and quiet...this is the place to stay. Not to mention it's very close to town.

Our family had a wonderful time at Banana Bank Lodge. The family style meals were fabulous and a great way to talk with other guests, the pool was refreshing, the property was beautiful, the staff were fabulous. We visited ruins one day and spent the next day riding. My two adult children enjoyed riding so much we nixed our plans for the afternoon and went on another ride. The staff had an evening soccer game and included our children, what a thrill! If you are staying inland, I couldn't recommend a better place!

Front desk staff was pleasant, but could use more training about the local tour offerings - they were somewhat uninformed and seemed confused about arranging tours and transportation. The food was good, although we got a bit tired of chicken. Best was chatting with the owners, Carolyn and John Carr - they have some awesome stories! LOVED the herd of horses and the experience with the horses in the pink roundpen - a highlight for sure! The architecture and gardens are lovely. The room we stayed in could use a bit of sprucing up and maybe a new mattress, but was still a sweet and comfortable room. YES we would return - and certainly hope to one day.

Check in was fine but when we got to our room it was pretty bad. The bathtub looked as if someone had spilled paint in it and there were large rust spots. The toilet would not totally flush unless you did it at least three times. We complained loudly and were upgraded to a much nicer room. However the clerk was rather snippy about it. They had a nice pool and beautiful landscaping. The meals were quite good although we thought they were rather expensive. The buildings could use some work in places. They have some birds and a jaguar in cages. Not a terrible place to stay but we would not go back.

Our family of 5 stayed at the Banana Lodge Bank for 2 nights in a cabana. The reception staff, the horse guides, the food and the owner John Carr were memorable. All were very friendly and accommodated our needs. The grounds were very well kept, and the price was right. The rooms were comfortable.

Really far from the main road. Service was rude. Nothing too spectacular about this place as far as amenities go.

The Lodge also provided delicious and healthy homemade meals served family style. The swimming pool was great. There were many things to see in the garden such as exotic animals and well-managed landscapes. The owner is an artist, and her gallery is open for guests to visit. There was no AC or Wi-Fi service in the hut but we were ok with that. Wi-Fi service was available near the office and pool. Since the Lodge is in the jungle, it’s better to bring insect repellent to prevent bites from mosquitos.
We had a good time at the Banana Bank Lodge. If you want to experience a jungle life, Banana Bank Lodge is one of your best choices. One thing to mention, if you chose to drive to Banana Bank Lodge, make sure to ask staff for directions. We relied on Google Maps, which led us to a dead-end at the side of the river.

We stayed here mainly because of proximity to the airport (flew in late in the afternoon). Room was nothing fancy but for the price, perfect. The staff was very nice and helpful. Dinner and breakfast were family style, and both very good. Our 5 year old daughter spotted the horses so we signed up for a horseback ride the next day and she loved it. Sherman (the guide) let her ride her own horse but stayed with her the entire time to make sure she was okay (which she was... the horse they chose for her was perfect). We enjoyed our stay!

Four friends and I stayed for several nights. The rooms are located in a dated hacienda. Some would find the rooms out of date and tacky, but we found them charming and unique. The AC worked great and the rooms were clean. The wifi is pretty slow and the beds are a little hard. The main problem with the rooms is the shower. The water pressure is not great and the shower heads are so choked with buildup, you would be better off just jumping in the beautiful pool.
The staff was friendly and very helpful. My group stayed out late and took a while to decide what we wanted to do each day. Things in Belize run pretty chill, but the staff was still able to meet all of our last minute requests. The horseback riding and night hikes were exciting and the guides were very personable. They serve a family style dinner every night and we really enjoyed sharing food and our daily adventures with our fellow guests. The food is simple but good. I would recommend eating there since there are not a lot of restaurants in Belmopan.
Some people may be uncomfortable with the fact there is a large aviary and a jaguar enclosure on the grounds and the horse roam freely throughout. The birds are very loud in the morning, so don’t expect to sleep in.
If you are looking for something new and sleek, Banana Bank is not for you. It is a unique slice of Belize and great jumping off point for adventure.

The hosts were amazing. They made the place. Fantastic art, plants and animals. Farm tour was fantastic. Other tours were enjoyed by guests. Family style meal encouraged interaction which added to the richness of the stay.
A fabulous venue for a relaxing , peaceful stay enhanced with good conversation and company.
Rooms could use an update but were comfortable enough. Linens need replacing.
