We have stayed at Crowne Plaza on a number of times while visiting family and have been very happy. However, it is now looking tired and the service is not so good. Lots of niggles: Room extremely cold on check in, had to put the heating on then go to the bar while warmed up; no shower gel in shower which never got filled despite reporting it twice, the washbasin is blocked, window dirty obstructing view in restaurant, long wait to get served at bar, decor tatty in places. However, clean, comfortable and an excellent breakfast

Lovely stay, nice big room anf breakfast is great as you can have the help yourself, or can order something to be made fresh. Lovely views of the sea from the restaurant.

Would definitely recommend this hotel. Lovely rooms, good location and super friendly staff.

Reception staff were very helpful and polite. We were able to check in early. They recommended that we join the IHG group for some money off of our bill in the restaurant later that night. Room was very clean and had everything you needed. Restaurant was lovely, great view and amazing staff. Great breakfast in the morning, full English and continental options.

The hotel was very clean and had a good atmosphere. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The facilities were very good, I would definitely stay there again.

Lovely stay in a great location

20 minute queue to check in did not start the trip well. 2 receptionist, 2 guests receiving attention and then myself in the queue. 20 minutes just not good enough. Concierge sat at her desk, no guests to deal with fully aware how long I was in the queue. Another member of reception staff kept popping her head round but no attempt to help out. Very poor.

Excellent position with great views. The steakhouse is particularly nice; that’s where breakfast was as well. The room was a bit tired. The bath was orange with rust and there were panels missing in the bedroom. But it was clean and comfortable.

Executive room booked. View of the top of a swimming pool; phone not working, hairdryer not working ( both reported but nothing done) teas etc not replenished for second day - 1 teabag left! En suite too small - almost had to back in and out, room service dire - better food from a service station ( sandwich not as described), asked if afternoon tea was served and told they finished serving at 3pm! Not worth the extra for executive room. Burnt hand on tea machine in breakfast room ( no warning of hot water exit) Apart from that Plymouth was lovely but ate out eventually.

The stay was absolutely brilliant and the breakfast was spot on

Our" sea view" room had slight glimpses of the sea, but mainly had a view of the swimming pool roof and ducting. We had access to the club lounge. This had zero atmosphere and little more comfort. The incessant "lift" music played in there drove me to leave immediately after my self service coffee from the machine.
The breakfast was fine, the staff are lovely. However we question whether it was worth an upgrade to an executive room?
We wont bother in future.

The hotel is an older structure and has been modernised throughout to a very high standard with evidence of new work present around the lifts and some common areas; the rooms are probably getting ready for a refresh as whilst it was really clean there are chips out of the bath and the shower/taps could do with being renewed.
The staff welcoming us at check-in were friendly and top class; that said the bar staff and breakfast staff were all really, really excellent in every way and they make the hotel absolutely perfect.
The beds were comfy, the family room nice and quiet too, the breakfast was great and everything perfect which is why I love a Crowne Plaza

On arrival all was well and pleased with accommodation, by 9pm our room 114 (family room) stunk of cigarette smoke like we were sitting in an ashtray.
There was a power cut in the hotel which rendered us in darkness with no explanation.
Room 114 had the ventilation system underneath which meant no sleep from the time we went to bed to the time we vacated.
By 7am our room was disgusting with the stench of cigarette smoke.
We complained to reception and someone attended the room and apologised for the disgusting stench but not further action was taken.
We checked out and reception waived our £15 parking charge for what was a £200 room.
We were kindly provided with a room stinking of cigarettes which obviously was acceptable for us and our child, along with no sleep for 8 hours due to the ventilation system which is not highlighted in any literature and by the staff of the hotel.
Great service indeed.
Our review would be try a different hotel in Plymouth.
As someone who works in a service environment and never complains, this has been our worst experience of inadequate and poor levels of service ever experienced.

Easy to check in

Staff very friendly and efficient, from front desk to room cleaners and breakfast staff. Absolutely professional and understanding of my needs and went above and beyond to make our experience memorable

Excellent city centre hotel. Accommodation good but bathroom very small. Breakfast offered very good choice and excellent service. Took dinner twice but second visit disappointing.

This hotel was fine. It felt tired and a bit run down, much like Plymouth itself. I was disappointed in the stop here overall. That said, the staff at the hotel were lovely and the breakfast was great.

Hotel has an excellent location, it is right in front of the lighthouse. From the penthouse (at breakfast) you can see the 360 view of the city (kids loved next to the window and pointing out what they saw). Good dining options around and swimming pool was excellent I could not get kids out of it. We used the location to travel around different location sin Devon and Cornwall it worked good. The Barcode is nearby with good entertainment and food options too.

Bathroom seemed a little tired. Difficult to get in and out of shower. Previous occupants half eaten food in fridge and biscuit crumbs on kettle tray. Kettle not emptied.

Very spacious room. Good pool and friendly reception. Breakfast was busy so only had continental.

The hotel was very clean and modern very comfortable but could have done with a couple of spare pillows breakfast was 5 stars with a lovely view .my only disappointment with the hotel was that you had to pay to park on there own car park which was not included in hotel price

Have been here quite a few times. Great location and most staff are great. Breakfast at the weekend was very busy and a but chaotic. Lots of bottle necks. Staff doing best to keep replenishing breakfast items but some stuff ran out. Have previously enjoyed a evening drink in the top bar but will not bother again unless we feel like being ignored by the member by staff whose job it was to stake our order. At no point were we ever acknowledged. At least there was a young person behind the bar who tried to make up for it.

Good facilities! Indoor swimming pool, steam room, sauna room are good!

Excellent location and great views from breakfast which had lots of options and was very enjoyable. However, the air con in the room didn't work well and so it was very hot. We also had to wait a long time at reception for a member of staff to come. There should be someone there all the time to avoid long waits and large queues forming.

Stayed for 2 nights in August with my grand daughter as a 13th birthday treat for her! Ground floor accessible twin room, clean and comfortable with everything we needed, we did find it a bit hot at night but as I didn’t remember to mention this there was nothing the staff could do to help (I feel they would have tried had I asked as they seemed very helpful and friendly) we enjoyed several dips in the pool and breakfast was amazing with stunning views from the penthouse! The hotel is convenient for the city centre and also really close to the hoe with some beautiful space and walks, will definitely try to return in the future

I missed having one draw to put something at least but apparently none of the rooms have any the window wouldn’t open in our room the staff did offer to move us to a different room but we used the air con instead the breakfast is wonderful lots of choice staff are friendly especially Angie
I would like to point out the staff are very friendly and accommodating the service room cleaner was so helpful on our 9th floor
The sea views are amazing especially from the breakfast room on the top floor the area outside got a bit rowdy probably due to teenagers having an enjoyable day in the sun

It was an all round nice hotel. Nothing was too much trouble. Our first night the room was quite cool with our summer being as good as it was and we were given an oil filled radiator. Our room was spacious and comfortable. The breakfasts were excellent with plenty of choices and staff constantly filling everything. Up. A lovely hotel in a good location on the edge of the Hoe.

Excellent all round stay at a hotel with great facilities and location.

Stay was very good, but we did pay for a sea view room and we did get a sea view, plus we didn’t have any toilet paper for two of off the three days there and had to call reception apart from that very good

Stay was nice. Hotel is lovely, only thing I noticed was bathroom not in a good condition. Could do with being updated but overall very comfortable.
Also breakfast menu in room to fill in but no pen, so lost out on my custom

An up market Premier Inn.
Room very basic, limited storage space, tired bathroom. Tissues hadn’t been replaced so just an empty box, one loo roll, one hygiene bag (trying to save money?).
Receptionist pleasant and helpful.
What you are paying for is the excellent view from the restaurant at breakfast or if you choose to dine their in the evening.
