The hotel is lovely and was decorated stunningly for christmas. It was also nice to walk into town via the canal from the hotel too.
We had an issue with the electric in our room on our second night and it took 3 calls to reception and 40 minutes before someone came up to the room. We felt that the customer service on the whole could have been quicker.

This is a dog friendly property. The property is gorgeous and the service from the front office staff was excellent. Would recommend this to anyone travelling with their beloved fur baby

Check in is at 1500 but we areived early as i had a business meeting i thiight id areange at the hotel. The plan was to.have lunch.
We waited at the bar for about 10 minutes and there was no one at check out or to service. There was a number of guests waiting to be served.
We gave up on drinks and thought we would get started without.
Once this was concluded i joined my wife. Again i attempted to get a drink as there was a person behind the bar. I was told that its table service and she would come.across.
Over 10 minutes went by and i had to go back over to the bar to then get served.
We were the joined by freinds again we waitied at the bar. Which after a period of time the lady told me she had already said its table service so i should wait at my table.
Then in the evening the night porter looked like he had ironed his shirt with a toaster was serving drinks which looked an entirly new concept to him which i can fully understand.
The night sleep was poor because im not a fan of soft beds but i can only put that doen to my preference.
Overall i believe this is a lovely hotel with poor quality of staffing levels. More training needed on how to look after customers.

Lovely staff
Though slightly understaffed. Needed an extra person to run between two stations as the bar was often left with people waiting to turn up.
The dinner in the restaurant was great. The service was good, but again I felt there should have been extra support.
It's a 50 minute walk to the centre of Oxford (definitely worth it as its mainly by the Thames) or a 6-10 minute bus ride.

Great stay at this recently refurbed hotel. Bed in double room was very comfortable, great having both a bath and a shower. Lovely Juliet balcony window with nice view. Hotel very dog friendly which was great for us and our dog. Parking availability was super and hotel only a short walk from bus stop right into Oxford. We also walked in along the riverbank - took about 40mins,

Room comfortable, good size. Lighting a bit dim for reading. Bathroom clean. Products good. Breakfast excellent. Porridge with honey and banana served from kitchen very good. De Caffe coffee lost none of taste.

Stayed one night for business trip. Room was very comfortable (as always) and reception and breakfast staff were above and beyond helpful (as always, and this is one of the reasons I come back so often). However, I stayed in an accessible room, which if you require this facility was excellent apart from the location. Ground floor main corridor with hard floors that bounce sound around. Also right by the lift which means people congragate, talk loudly and bash buttons etc at all times of the night. Then you're woken up by the staff going in and out of the store cupboard from the crack of dawn and the bashing their mop against the walls and doors as they clean the floors along the corridor. As I had already had a disturbed night due to chesty cough, a loud early morning banging on walls and doors was not the gentle wake up I wanted.

Loved this hotel!! 10/10 would recommend!
Conveniently located, quiet, overall aesthetic and decor of the room and property is beautiful, and great accommodations for guests looking to be busy traveling around Oxford or just stay in!

This seems like an older hotel, however my room was updated and very clean. The staff is super friendly and sweet. They are courteous and do their best to make your stay pleasant from checking in to checking out. I recommend this hotel if you are ever in Oxford! Their breakfast is great but most of all is the cheerful, warm welcome you’ll receive from Wendy as you enter the dining room. What a gem she is! I’ll definitely stay here again.

This hotel is nicely situated in the pretty village of Iffley, a couple of miles south of Oxford City centre. The river Thames runs close by and the lock at Iffley is worth a visit. There are also a couple of pubs in the village. It is possible to cross the river at the lock and walk into the city centre along the towpath (about 40 minutes). The hotel is clean, fresh looking and the rooms are comfortable. The staff are all professional and provide a warm, friendly experience.

We arrived in the late PM and I went to have a bath. The plug wouldn't press closed because there was a human turd stuck in it. I was nearly sick at the discovery,
Reception changed out room but it was MUCh smaller and we had no compensation discount offered or anything. I will be emailing your complaints department to help us hold them to account.

Clean and tidy hotel on the outskirts of Oxford. It is an easy walk to the centre and we preferred the location. The room was spacious and comfortable. The hotel has a nice bar area with an outside terrace. Would definitely recommend.

Lovely clean room. Coffee and tea facilities plus cold water provided. Very friendly staff.
Excellent breakfast.
Hotel was a 5 min walk to bus stop and a 10 min ride to get to city centre.
Cant fault anything.

My room was very comfortable and large for a double bed. I really liked the decor! The bathroom walk-in shower was very nice and there was even a makeup mirror and shelf for toiletries. I stayed in Elm House at the back of the property, so it was quiet. It’s very easy to get the bus from Iffley Turn and go into Oxford. The staff were friendly and helpful. I will definitely stay here again next time I visit.

Previously have loved the hotel and it's still great location and lovely staff. Brilliant breakfast too. Downside was our room 115 I think was basically a windowless box, the only natural light was near the door down a corridor, if we had been staying for a special occasion it would have ruined it, we were just passing through so was fine. Room was comfortable and clean. Check out was ok, we were asked for extra money despite having already paid, after explaining I'd paid they cancelled the extra charges. The extra wasn't for breakfast or taxes (which I'd be happy to pay for) so felt this might mean other people pay without challenging. Might be a hotels.com issue so reluctant to blame hotel. Overall I'd give the hotel 5 out of 5 but make sure you ask for a room with good lighting and check the bill in checkout.

What a lovely hotel! It is located on the outskirts of Oxford but is really well connected by bus, so this is not an issue. We walked into town and it was a really nice 20 min walk. Very green and very peaceful. The hotel is super clean and really well maintained..The thing that makes this hotel so good is however the staff! What an amazing team! Really kind and professional. Really happy to help! We will definitely be back. Thank you.

Single person traveler. Very clean, spacious and updated. The property has a lift which was always prompt. I spent only one night in a double and wish I could have stayed longer. Bed was comfortable and the shower was delightful with a rain shower and a hand held. Easy to control room temperature for my liking. Bathroom lighting was fantastic with a magnified makeup mirror. The hairdryer actually had a cord long enough to reach from the outlet to a mirror which was a first on my trip. Breakfast was very good, plentiful with both hot and cold options including a full English breakfast or cooked to order. Fantastic for the value.
Unfortunately, I got in much later than I planned and was unable to explore the area so I cannot comment on location other than to say it was quiet and with lovely grounds. The Oxford clothing theme of the hotel is done in a classy and clever way. I will definitely stay here on my next visit. Highly recommend.

Located in a quiet leafy suburb, this is the ideal blend of convenience and value for money when staying in Oxford.

The rooms are in excellent condition. Felt modern, comfortable and clean. On-site free parking was a bonus. Great to have a restaurant in the hotel as well.
Location was peaceful and not far from shops and restaurants.

I enjoyed my overnight stay in the Mercure in Oxford as was given a warm welcome, all queries answered and the staff I came into contact with were exemplary.
I enjoyed staying in the original house of Francis Howard Binkerton. My only slight criticism was the grounds could benefit from a tidier appearance . I would recommend this hotel as I really enjoyed my stay . Please pass on my thanks.

The staff couldn’t be more helpful from the moment I walked through the door. The hotel is well thought out and a lovely environment to be in. The rooms are elegant and the bed is ooooo wow so comfortable! I will definitely be back!!

What a lovely hotel. The staff were all wonderful and the hotel is just fabulous xx

The property is located in a residential area; so, it's very quiet, but not exactly walking distance to town center. That said, it's a short walk to bus stop, or simply get a taxi, which will be a short ride.
Very attentive staff will make you feel at home.

The parking spaces were a bit difficult to get into and the rear wall of the property and antique door/gate needed some tlc or they will be lost. There were also some maintenance rooms with stuff showing in the windows, didnt look very premium. But these are minor issues. If I was having my wedding there it might bother me though.
4.0
Room was nice and clean but due to being put in the older building down the back the room was smaller than expected given we paid for a privilege room. The room did still have the other perks but I found the pictures on Expedia to be a little misleading if they consider this room to be part of the tier.
2.5
Beautiful hotel. Excellent breakfast and very attentive staff. Other than the slightly rattly air conditioning/heating unit which woke me up a couple of times, we couldn’t fault it. It was lovely to walk from the hotel along the river into Oxford too.

Our two day stay for our daughter’s wedding has been as close to perfection as we could possibly get… the staff at this lovely hotel are beyond excellent, two members of staff in particular shone… John on reception as well as many other duties and JASMINE who truly helped to make our weekend so memorable, Jasmine is a star, in my humble opinion, the heart of this hotel. I would be proud to have her as my daughter. The food was of Michelin standard presented by high quality staff with dignity and professionalism of the highest order.
Our wedding experience was amazing and we would recommend this hotel to anyone who may be looking for a venue for their own wedding.
Thank you for looking after my daughter and new son in law.
Grandpa Chris.

Lovely hotel. We paid a little extra for a larger room with king size bed and were delighted with it.
Staff friendly and location excellent for getting in and out of the city centre.
