The best steak I’ve had for ages if not ever and great breakfast too. A really nice vibe about this place.
Nothing.

Great location opposite Battle Abbey, Fantastic staff, friendly and helpful. The breakfast was lovely and set us up for the day.
Parking was challenging but not unique to this property!

The food was amazing, we were told it was the chef's first shift, however you would have never known. We were a big table with a big order and all the food was cooked to perfection. The owners of the hotel were lovely and polite and even though you could see they were extremely busy, they still made time to stand and have a chat with us. The garden out back was absolutely beautiful and our room was beautiful too. The shower was amazing and I never wanted to get out. The room was clean and tidy, the bed was very comfortable and well made and cosy dressing gowns were supplied as well as lovely bug towels. There was a wonderful mix of hot chocolates, coffee and tea available to help ourselves to. Couldn't recommend this place more.
Only suggestion i could make (and it's not even a necessary one) but the lower end of the garden could use a few more lights and maybe some heat lamps around the tables areas too. However the hotel do offer a blanket for you to snuggle in, which I think was a lovely idea!

Location, staff, comfy and clean
Nothing, exceeded expectations for location and price.

The property was directly across the road from Battle Abbey so very central. Staff very helpful booking taxis and advising on a place to eat, as we stayed on a Sunday and they don’t do evening meals only lunch on a Sunday. Breakfast was included in the fee and was excellent. They also changed our room with no fuss as we decided to stay an extra night. Rooms were clean and comfortable and the staff pleasant and friendly.
The car park is cross the road (but not too far). We weren’t advised there would be no evening meal available on the Sunday (I had emailed the request) but luckily there is a restaurant open in Battle (Italian) which was pleasant.

Lovely hotel, great food in the pub/restaurant. The breakfast was amazing. Staff were very friendly and the rooms were well equipped and comfy.
A tad more scrubbing in the bathroom around the shower could have been good but generally very clean.

First impressions when you walk in the bar are very good. Decor is lovely. Staff greeting from a young man whose name escapes me was excellent, he showed us to our room, he was friendly and very professional. We saw him again at breakfast and once again his customer service was excellent. The only other thing I can say positive about our stay is that the bed was comfortable.
The first thing we noticed is that there wasn’t a wardrobe in the room. To be fair there wasn’t room for one. There were some coat hooks on the wall so all good to hang up your coat but no hangers so no where to hang any clothes. The bathroom had no surfaces to put things so the only place for your toiletries was the floor or carry them back and forth from the bedroom. Next we discovered that after using the toilet it takes ages to refill so no good going after one another had to hang on for a bit (about 15 mins)or remember to go back and flush! We were visiting family so thought it’s only one night let’s not worry.
We had dinner at the hotel our family joined us, even though when we first sat there was only one other table with people having dinner it seemed to take a long time to be served our drinks. At one point I took the empties to the bar and ordered drinks and took them to the table myself. Starters were good but one of the main dishes served was extremely poor, when this was highlighted to a member of staff she was very abrupt was refusing to acknowledge the issue but eventually agreed to take the cost of the dish of the bill. We didn’t bother with dessert we decided to go to another pub.
In the morning we were woken by loud music coming through the floor, I appreciate that you will have music in a pub but not at 7:40 on a Sunday morning.
We woke up very thirsty and realised there was no water in the room. At £155 a night I would expect a bottle of water. We went down to breakfast, the mugs were dirty had to ask for others, we ordered full English one with scramble egg one with fried eggs. The scramble was a tiny portion, the fried eggs were totally over cooked there was one cherry tomato that was flattened amongst a tiny portion of sliced mushrooms and the hash browns were inedible. One bite and my mouth was full of oil. At this point we gave up!

Mattress felt cheap and old. No support and uncomfortable. One night on that mattress was plenty

The food a bar facilities were excellent
the bedroom with a broken window and a bathroom the size of a cupboard was disappointing. Also the bed was uncomfortable and although advertised as a double bed it was not. As it often done it was two single beds pushed together. Creatiing a ridge in the middle. Not good

Location/staff/breakfast all good
nice evening meal nice selection of wines
Rooms are not only rather small for the price charged but the dividing walls between other rooms are paper thin
This meant that we could hear other guests talking or TV noise

We arrived for New Years eve and all went well with service, food, entertainment. No complaints at all.
Originally we were allocated a table for 2 against the DJ's speaker which clearly wasnt going to work on NY's eve (!) but was relocated without much fuss to a spare in the middle of the rooms with the duo one end and the DJ, the other - so best of both worlds.
