Excellent(115 Reviews)4.5
We used this as a base for Alton Towers so only required a place to sleep. The cottage was very dated and has not been properly cleaned in a while. One sofa bed was broken and we didnt have space to open ot up anyway. Luckily there was another foldaway sinhle bed that we put in yhe kitchen.
The bathrooms were not good. Carpets on the floor which was a bit disgusting. The showers switch from hot to cold and many fittings were loose.
It has a nice charm to it but desperately needs cleaned and updated. Toiletries, teas and coffees were not replaced. Its clear that this is a bar that has some old rooms that they can profiteer out of. The bar seems to allow dogs which is unsanitary when they serve food.
Not worth the money

Great staff - menu a little limited.

Exceeded expectations. Very good staff. Excellent room. Particularly good bed and bed linen. Excellent ensuite bathroom. Beautiful location. Quality breakfast. Very very good lamb cutlets for dinner. Very good local Lord Lucan beer. Thoroughly enjoyed a sadly short stay.

Lovely clean room with comfy bed. Sea bass main and home made mint Baileys cheesecake was excellent. Good breakfast with proper sausages.

This pub is clearly for walkers/cyclist the bedroom floor is wood and no carpets so the floor was dirty after taking my shoes off my socks were filthy. The food was very poor and overcooked

The staff were excellent, always friendly and helpful. This was our third stay and we will be returning soon.

Would have been nice if the staff was friendlier from check in. Better directions to room as we were told on first floor. The room was up a stairwell and down the hallway in the dark. It was after 8 pm - we had been driving in pelting rain for 5 hrs. There was a really nice lady the next morning who greeted us for breakfast and was very friendly and nice so that was nice. Breakfast was hearty!

Sewage smell outside at times.

Had a lovely stay. Very friendly, good food. Only bad point was the smell of the drains. Not pleasant. Would probably put me off staying again

We stayed in the innkeepers cottage. Absolutely gorgeous self contained 2 bedroom accommodation. Very well equipped, including things like real coffee & bodum rather than sachets. The pub itself is also lovely and there's plenty of on site parking. Staff were welcoming and friendly. We'll definitely go back.

Nice country pub/hotel bit off main route but welcoming clean and food on tap

Lovely country pub with good homely pub food. Excellent base for the area. Definitely will be back.

Absolutely wonderful stay, for our family Christmas, as we all live in different parts of the country. The cottage was beautiful and very clean. Absolutely perfect! Well equipped kitchen. Great to either eat in or eat at the restaurant a few steps away, in the main inn! The staff are so helpful and friendly! We look forward to staying again!

We've stayed before and used the same room (Inn Keepers Cottage) has everything you need and more. We used as a stopping point only so just 1 night, this is not a 5 Star hotel, it's a lovely mini apartment attached to a nice and friendly pub in a rural location, so if your looking for a super modern hotel feel, it's not that, much more homely and while it is clearly an old building it's well looked after with a quirky layout.

We can recommend the Manifold Inn - enjoyed our stay there for 2 nights en route further south

Shower tray and bathroom could do with a refurb. Bed was comfortable. Staff very friendly and good service.

Good location for the Manifold Trail. Friendly staff. Great breakfast.

We stayed in the Innkeepers cottage, comfortable beds and plenty of space for a family. Kids were happy to have wifi and watch smart tv after a long day at Alton Towers.
Bathroom could do with updating like other rooms have, (i hate carpet in bathrooms) but it was clean and having 2 showers was great.
Friendly and welcoming staff.
Overall I'd be happy to stay again.

Great place to stay Great Pub

From the outside it was very nice. However in the room, the shower hadn’t been cleaned properly. There was dust and hair on the floor of the shower which we cleaned ourselves. The amount of hair was unreal.
The bedroom was nice but it had a massive winter duvet on and in this heat wasn’t needed.
The bar it self was dedicated to the residents with some social distancing. The table we sat at for food was right next to another couple which was less than 2 meters. People kept coming through the doors and repeatedly the staff told customers to use the outside bar up in the field.
Not sure what people didn’t understand. Also our table hadn’t been cleaned so we cleaned it ourselves.

Cosy, clean and great value pub food. Spent two nights here as a family, will definitely visit again.

Everything was good, large room, quiet and good puib food.

Have stayed there previously, and enjoyed our stay at all times immensely. We'd recommend the breakfasts, but found the dinner menu disappointing.

We stayed in the innkeepers cottage and we found this excellent, the only thing that let the stay down of four days is when we arrived very tired and hungry after our travelling,we ordered food and drink in the bar, what came seemed to be leftovers from breakfast servings this was at 1pm, so we decided against using the restaraunt on our stay.
