About this apartment rental
Please enjoy my accurate description so that you know what to expect. This place is perfect to arrive to Portland, dump your luggage off, go out and enjoy the city, come back to a cozy clean bed. Not intended to sit around and pretend you are at home. Marriot members will not be satisfied. Street parking only and it is free.
This a unique historic Portland tenant building from 1886. It is perfectly not perfect. The floors are wide pine and creek a bit and feel slightly uneven. The bedrooms are basic sized large enough for a bed and a few tables. The beds are new Nectar foam mattresses and the linens are brand new. Light quilt blankets for the summer and down comforters for the fall/winter are provided. Bedroom windows have darkening shades and a wall mounted heater for cold nights and fans for warm nights. Guests often remark at how quiet it is at night for being in the middle of the city the second floor. The tenants upstairs don't make much noise.
The AC will keep most or the place cool on average summer days and struggle on rare 100 degree days. I provide 4 table and window fans as well.
The kitchen has everything you need for basic cooking however, with so much great food in Portland no on ever cooks. The toaster oven is a healthier way of heating food and I will never advocate for microwaves nor own one. The slice toaster is available too along with pots and pans and utensils. Ninja coffee maker with coffee and sugar is available. Spices, salt and pepper, cooking spray and oil are provided.
Bathroom is renovated with a BathFitter tub, flooring, ceiling, sink and fresh paint. There are liquid soaps are included. The water will take a few minutes to get hot and the water pressure is average.
There is a semi private room with a desk if you have calls to make or need to do some work. There is no door to shut hence "semi private".
The spare room behind the kitchen is used as a utility closet and rear egress. Not intended to be used for guests however please use for emergencies.
The sidewalk can get icey in the winter. There will be salt and sand by the front door. I ask all tenants to make it safe for others and feel free to toss some out.
I'm sure I'll miss something however, I know you will enjoy your stay and the city and I always very responsive if guests need anything. Enjoy!!!
Please remember there are tenants above and below you. Please be conscious of noise and loud music during late hours. Any complaint from tenants will result in forfeiture of deposit.
If you need the sofa bed please slip the cover off and fold the bed out. Retract it back when not in use.
There is a TV with Roku and no cable. Bring your own device to hook up if you wish.
Please leave the sheet on the bed and the cleaner will take care of everything.
Please recycle common recyclable material. Food is not recyclable. Maine has a bottle return deposit. Please keep those separate.
The hot water will take a while to flow as the building uses an on demand system.
Please do not dump bacon grease down the drain.

Davian was a great host who communicated clearly throughout the process. Apartment was clean and comfortable. I'd rent from Davian again.

Appreciated the ease of check in and the owner suggestions. We have come to Portland a lot and stayed out from morning until night with lots of things to do. Moonday Coffee amazing. We did find the online photo misleading as the third sleeping area was not as it was displayed online. Instead it was in the « writing desk « room without a door. The place however served us well.

Great spot in Portland. Close to dozens of food options, breweries, and sites. Clean, comfortable, and spacious.

What a lovely place to stay! The apartment was just as listed. I loved the old floors in the living room and dining area, and all the houseplants made it very homey. It was so much nicer than staying at a cookie-cutter hotel room. The teenagers loved having their own rooms so they could go to bed on their own schedules. The place had lots of little things to help travelers ... aluminum foil, plastic wrap, phone charging cords, bandaids, teabags, etc. We didn't actually need any of them, but it was very thoughtful to have at the room.
Our only issue was parking, but that's going to be a problem anywhere during peak season in July. It's no fault of the property, just something travelers should be aware of. We often walked to places in town and didn't have to worry about moving the car, but on the days we headed to South Portland to go on a fishing trip or see the lighthouse, we did have to drive around a bit when we returned to find parking spots. The owner did give us some advice on where to find some parking one evening when we were having a hard time. Thank you!
We would definitely stay here again!!!

Thank you so much for a great stay. Just in town for a show and it was perfect. Grabbed breakfast at forge and wish we could have explored the neighborhood a bit more. Fun spots.

The property was the perfect location for our stay. The listing accurately described the property and Davian was a very responsive host.

The apartment was as described though neither bed was leveled off the sloping floor. The 3 comfortable chairs were indeed comfortable and the 3 dining chairs were suitable for dining. There were nice amenities such as bandaids, coffee, and umbrellas. Everything was fine except several off-putting warnings before our stay regarding the owner’s worst experiences with other VRBO clients including an admonition that his apartment was not there to "host your domestic violence and unhealthy decisions." We kindly informed him that upon getting into one of the beds, we noticed one of the legs was broken. He responded by accusing us of breaking it through "abnormal activity" despite his cleaning crew leaving it that way before our arrival. Nonetheless, the apartment was in a great location for our group who enjoyed exploring Portland on foot and attending a PSO concert.

Our 3 night stay in Portland's Monjoy neighborhood was the perfect compliment to our Maine vacation. Everything was in walking distance, and we took ample advantage of many long hikes and walks . Davian is a gracious host, and provided thoughtful touches to make us feel welcome . comfy beds, and ample kitchen supples.

Quite convenient to the port area, the heart of which is about a mile walk from the property, mostly downhill; an easy 20-min walk to the wharves with all the restaurants.

We needed a place for an overnight stay in Portland, and this was a great choice for us. The location was within walking distance to many restaurants and the waterfront. The apartment had everything we needed and some nice touches as well (Brita water pitcher was much appreciated!). The communication from the owner was excellent.

Great location, clean and comfortable place to for our first night in Maine. We were walking distance from everything we wanted to do, and the on street parking wasn't difficult to find.

I'm so glad we booked this apartment, it is so close to downtown Portland and had plenty of space for our family of 4. Davian, the owner was very communicative and made sure we knew he was there to answer any questions we might have. The apartment is very thoughtfully filled with small things you might need like a box with small bandaids for my daughter when I had only packed standard size ones. :-)

The apartment was clean and well-organized. Appliances are up to date. The location was amazing. Walking distance to wonderful restaurants, coffee shops, bookshops, and the ocean. Also if you are sensitive to strong chemicals smells or perfumes in cleaning products or laundry soap like I am, have no fear. Everything was very clean but did not smell like the laundry soap aisle at Target. You will be able to breathe with ease. Thanks so much for a wonderful stay.

Great location near excellent restaurants and walking distance to Commercial Street. Unit was exceptionally clean. Appreciated the headsup on the sloped floor which was a non issue after the first day. Would definitely recommend.

This was the perfect place for my friends and I to sleep on New Year’s Eve. Enough beds for the three of us, and within walking distance to Fore Street so we didn’t have to navigate downtown parking.
Davian was an attentive and informative host, providing not only information regarding the property, but also area attractions and points of interest.
If you’re looking for a sunlit apartment near the city center, I would recommend this one!
