We had a wonderful stay with our family at this property. So much space to be together and apart when needed! It was lovely and warm and very comfortable. The games rooms provided a lot of fun for all ages! Would highly recommend.

3 generations across two families enjoyed 5 nights at Malcolms' wonderful property.
The pictures don't do it justice. The house is massive, and was perfect for our group of 12, plus one dog.
The downstairs single room was a godsend for one of the granparents who struggles with stairs. And the kids, and the competitive dads/grandads loved the table tennis and pool table.
The location was perfect for us, just a short 3-4 min drive from the centre of Grantown on Spey, or a leisurely 25 min walk. And only 20-25 mins from Aviemore.
The kitchen was well equipped to make full meals, which we did most evenings. And two large fridge-freezers were great for the excess amount of food and drink we brought with us.
Malcolm was great with any comms we had with him. Can't fault him or his house at all. If we plan any future large group holidays in the area, this is the first place we'll try and book.

Our party consisted of 3 families with children aged 5-8 years old. The house was spacious, comfortable and catered for us all very well. Plenty of garden for the kids and location was excellent. We enjoyed a morning and Cairngorms ski centre, an afternoon at the highland folk museum followed by a day at nearby Landmark.
Aviemore is a short drive away and the scenery is stunning.
We have all thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend and we will definitely be back!

We needed a house with a grond floor bedroom and bathroom for disabled access, this house was perfect for this. 11 guests in total and plenty of space for everyone. Only slight issue was some of the party didnt sleep well as the mattresses seemed a tad on the cheap side. Very good break away and would definitely attend again.

We loved our stay in Grantown-on-Spey. The home is huge, with plenty of space to stretch out. We enjoyed cooking a meal in the well-supplied kitchen and playing croquet on the lawn. Malcolm was a pleasure to work with. The walk into town is lovely.

Amazing property and perfect for a group gathering. Set in lawned garden that is perfect for morning coffee in the sunshine, doggy fetch games and even family rounders. BBQ most useful as were all the facilities and amenities. Great to have three bathrooms. so the families didn’t clash. Set on three levels with fantastic sized rooms and plenty of space to spread out… even the teenagers were happy! Achnagonalin is a superb base for exploring the Highlands and such a welcoming house after a hard day out trekking. Malcolm visited to check in on us which was a lovely touch as was the welcome goodies we received. Highly recommend this super escape from city living! We hope to return…

Although the house has 7 bedrooms it has a homely and comfortable feel to it. It was well equipped, with a huge garden. Its location close to the Speyside Way was ideal for our group. We all had a very relaxing weekend there, and hope to return

Couldn't recommend this rental enough. The house was huge, so much space for our group. The pool/snooker room and table tennis room were fantastic. The house was clean and the kitchen was big and well stocked with everything you could ask for. Malcolm, the host, couldn't have been more helpful. Loads of walks in the area, and we were lucky with timing with the farmers market on the Sunday. Would go back in a heartbeat!

We were a large group and had a really memorable stay at Achnagonalin. Lots of space - both inside and outside. It was a great venue for a large gathering of family and friends to celebrate a birthday milestone. We would highly recommend.

Property was amazing and big enough for us to all be together and also have our own space when needed. It was a walking distance from the town. Lots of walks to choose from. Would definitely come back again.

What a wonderful property - we had a great stay here. Perfect large house for large groups, close to everything you’d want to be close to. We liked being able to walk into town but stay in a quiet house. Plenty of fun activities for children of all ages. Malcom was informative and leaned forward on communication. Our only disappointment was that we had to leave so soon.

Very relaxing holiday with family of 11. Games room was great for days when weather wasn’t good. Flexible accommodation with a quirky layout which the children especially loved for hiding! Games were great too. Beautiful, peaceful location but close enough to walk and cycle to Grantown on Spey and forest nearby. Driveway was a bit awkward for low suspension car. Definitely recommend a visit. We had a lovely time.

We booked a week's family holiday for 8 of us. The house was amazing, so well equipped and so much space. The wine and shortbread was very welcome too.
All in our party found their own space within the house, we had great fun playing pool and ping pong, and the dogs and kids loved the garden. We also loved the neighbours (horses in the field next to the house).
We had a wonderful week exploring the beautiful Cairngorms, lochs and even a trip to the beach. The weather was superb and we all throughly enjoyed ourselves, and have made memories to last a lifetime. Thank you Malcolm.

A beautiful, spacious, peaceful period property with a lot of character, situated in an ideal location for walks, lochs and tourist attractions. Plenty of room for extended family and a well thought out supply of entertainment in the form of games, books and dvds, ideal for the occasional rainy day!
We would have no hesitation in re-booking in the future - cannot fault the helpfulness of the owners.

Due to Covid, we've waited a long time to get together as an extended family and Achnagonalin proved to be the perfect house for us all to get together to celebrate my dad's 70th birthday and my mum and dad's 50th wedding anniversary.
The house itself is remarkable. There is so much space - we never felt like we were under each other's feet. In fact, the it's so big that we even lost people from time to time! (Tip! It's the perfect house for a game of hide 'n' seek. My brother was so well hidden we had to get the dogs to sniff him out!). The house is very well equipped with everything you could possibly want or need. We brought our own dishwashing tabs and laundry detergent but there was a plentiful supply already there. The kitchen is well stocked with more than enough crockery, cutlery and cooking equipment for even the largest of groups. The gong in the dining room was a big hit with the kids, but it also proved to be a very practical way of telling everyone that dinner was ready. Just dong the gong rather than try to shout on everyone! The pool/snooker table was another bonus.
The grounds are spacious and lovely. The garden is ideal for a large game of family rounders and, again, hide 'n' seek! One of our party managed to stay hidden in the grounds for about half an hour and we had to resort to calling her mobile to find her! The only neighbours within earshot are a three horses, a field of sheep and a highland cow with a calf.
Malcolm was a very friendly and helpful host, and although we didn't have any problems at all during our stay, it was nice to know he would be on hand if we did. He left us a bottle of wine and some shortbread on arrival which was just what we needed after the long drive.
Book it! You won't be disappointed.

Lovely period house with spacious gardens. Children had great fun playing in the grounds. Great for large group, well equipped kitchen. The pool table and table tennis table are a bonus if there are children in your party. Cosy sitting room with log fire and plentiful supply of firewood. Be aware of shower unit hidden behind shower curtain in one of the upstairs bathrooms ......don’t use taps on bath. We had a great weekend staying here, perfect location.

A fantastic property for large groups offering large open fire, well equipped kitchen and plenty of dining space which was a priority for us as we stayed at the property over Christmas. Two Christmas trees were provided for the children to decorate and the owner was extremely helpful when we emailed with regard to food deliveries and local butchers. House is in quiet yet convenient position to the local town of Grantown on Spey. Locals very friendly and a great base to explore Cairngorms.

Spacious, well equipped house with plenty of space for our 11 guests. Malcolm, the owner, responded to all my queries promptly and was very helpful. The house is ideally situated for exploring the Cairngorms and we had a great time.

Achnagonlin was a great house and location for our family weekend. The thirteen of us had a wonderful time. The house is not fancy but very functional for a party like ours with plenty of space for lively children. The grounds are ideal and safe for youngsters to play where they can do little damage although they were told not to walk on the daffodils which were beautiful this April. It is also very convenient for Aviemore, Cairngorms and various bike runs if that is your thing. All together a very good accommodation.

For a self catering experience, this house worked well. The kitchen is large and well equipped. To their credit, there are also 2 refrigerators-a big bonus!
The property is well located for day trips into the Highlands, many of them just an hour or so away.
As others have suggested, this is a casual home that exudes relaxation in every way.
Grantown-on-Spey has plenty of amenities and is only 10 to 15 minutes away.

Just had a thoroughly enjoyable holiday with our extended family here. House is huge and very comfortably accommodated 11 plus toddler. We enjoyed the pool table, especially the teenagers, and it was lovely to all sit and feast around the enormous dining table. Stunningly beautiful area with plenty of variety on your doorstep, lovely walks from the door and easy access to provisions in Grantown. Malcolm was very quick to respond to our questions and requests. Thank you!
