We love getting away to Middleburg and are thrilled that we discovered the gem that is Villa Maud. As the consummate host, Maud seems to have a knack for understanding what worked uniquely for us: asking what we wanted, without any degree of intrusiveness; our weekend at Villa Maud’s was exactly what we needed.
The rooms, decorated with original art by Maud and family members, were comfortable and curated with style. We loved the lounging in the pool in privacy and sampling some local vineyards.
On our second morning, we enjoyed a homemade breakfast on the patio, precisely at the hour we requested. Her breakfast, available for an extra fee, is not to be missed. We savored her omelets, potatoes, and fruit, all done to our specifications.
In short, staying at Villa Maud was a wonderful experience that we are looking forward to sharing with our family and friends in the near future.
The property is lovely and adjacent to farmland, further from Middleburg than we usually stay, but often privacy and pastoral beauty are much desired as well!

we stayed in the Monet Suite which was quite large and nice since the weather was rainy

Where to start! First, the hostess and owner, Maud! Second, the amazing art from this talented family. Third, I didn't want to leave the Monet Suite - so luxurious! I could go on and on but this is a special place indeed.
I would not have changed a thing! Wish we had come earlier to enjoy more!

Maud was such a delightful hostess! She recommended wonderful places for my wife and I to visit for food and wine. The room was spacious, secluded and clean. Can’t wait to return!
It was perfect!

The room was awful - a dump. Greeted by a barking dog and a dump truck in the driveway.
Decor was a joke . We honestly thought we smelled gas and had irritation in our throats . We left and didn’t return . We informed the owner who said it was not possible . We had no reason to tell her if it weren’t true . Did not ask for or expect a refund.

The views from the suite are fabulous as are the quietness and privacy of the home. The entire property is magical and the owner was so accommodating.
Nothin to dislike.

The property is tucked away in a quiet plot of land. It is so quiet that occasionally deer will calmly wander into the garden on their explorations. The suites are well furnished with sofas, good wifi and a comfy 4-poster bed. The shower was one of the fanciest I have ever used and the hot tub was also impressive! Coffee pods for a coffee machine and a water cooler provided but no kettle (so no possibility to make tea in your room). We had been travelling a while and so used the laundry service which was very efficient and reasonably priced! Overall a lovely place to stay. The host sent lots of details about nearby wineries and restaurants to visit, these included a discount for guests at this property that we also used.

The room was clean and cozy. Peaceful surroundings, very quiet. Nice personal touches from the owner. The room we stayed in had a blue color scheme and lots of original pairings on the walls. Higher quality soap, lotion, and shampoo.
Driveway area could use a little grooming and more signage. There was one small sign at the top of the driveway. Being it is a rural residential location, an extra sign or two to know you are on the right property would be helpful.
Not a B&B. Breakfast is optional at $20 extra per person. You don’t find this out until after you book.

I must say I enjoyed the cozy fireplace. The quaintness of the room. Also the beauty of all the art work!

We enjoyed the quaint and peaceful feel of Villa Maud. The Monet Suite was spacious and comfortable. Loved the views of the rolling hills which made for a gorgeous sunset and sunrise. The home owner (Maud) was most accommodating and provides top notch hospitality.

There was no breakfast. I thought from the advertisement this was an inn with a reception desk and some amenities. It was a B&B, without the B. The owner could not have been nicer, but the facility didn't live up to expectation. It was off season so I think that was part of the difficulty. I could see the outdoor arrangements and pool were very pleasant.
There was only one small lamp in the bedroom, so it was very dark. There is no thermostat in the bedroom, so the heating varied. Initially it was very cold but when I asked for more heat the next day, the host took immediate care of it.

gorgeous location, tucked away and plenty of the region’s best scenery available from the first few steps out your door.
The ONLY hiccup we experienced was an inability to utilize the fireplace on a cold late November night. This was as much our fault for not being available to meet the owner that evening to turn it on, as it could be that some clear written directions could be posted in the room as well. The room was plenty well heated from the vents, so it’s not like we failed to have a warm room.

The location is near several old towns in the Virginia countryside and multiple wineries. Maud caught us on our way out to dinner one evening. She was very pleasant, and asked us how things were. Neither of us felt it was the time or place to complain about things that could not be remedied during our stay.
Our room had a strong musty smell, and, like the exterior of the property, is in need of a refresh. Maud apologized for repairs being done to the bathroom ceiling, but that really didn't bother us as much as the quality of the room in general.
We were on lower level, and the sliding glass door and large window made us feel exposed whenever anyone walked outside on the patio to the gazebo or pool. We closed the blinds at night, but during the day, wanted them open for natural light and a view of the outside. Fortunately, we spent our days out exploring. The wifi signal was so weak as to be unusable, so I was unable to do any work or view emails in the mornings before my wife woke up. We probably would not have booked this room if more photos and a better description of it had been available.

Everything was great; beautiful and very chill setting. Very nice and interesting host. Bed and linens were excellent, if a bit soft [thick pillowtop?] for my back. Great water pressure and plenty of hot water.
There is a robot who cleans the pool. For reasons that I cannot understand it was left in the pool, and on all day long. The pump that drives it makes a noise which once it is stopped one realizes is quite loud when at the pool. And, the robot, about every 30 seconds sprayed water randomly quite far, making a loud noise that was rather disruptive. The pump noise is not loud enough to disrupt anyone at night, so I wonder why the cleaner robot is not just left on/in overnight and removed early in the morning. We would have disengaged it ourselves, but host was adamant that we allow her to do it, and then was really not responsive [I am guessing was off premises, which is fine, but then the thing should have been removed so guests could use the pool/deck w/o the hassle of being sprayed with water every 30 seconds.] to requests to have it removed/dealt with. This is the only negative aspect of our visit, but it did really impede our ability to fully enjoy the gorgeous pool/deck, which was disappointing.

Serene and quiet place in a beautiful surrounding. The Monet Suite is huge and very comfortable with a balcony overlooking the pasture and valley. We stayed there during the weekday and enjoyed the pool. The city, shopping, and restaurants are close but we stayed in. Great host. She even offered to get us dinner when she went out. We hope to be able to visit the villa again in the fall.
Cannot think of anything.

This place is tremendous. The owner cares deeply about her place and her guests and goes above and beyond. She cooked delicious breakfasts. Our room was spectacular, huge, with balcony, jacuzzi and Roman shower. The grounds are gorgeous and the pool amazing. The surrounding area is so beautiful. Every drive passed pretty horse farms and great scenery.
It is a little far from civilization. A trip to a restaurant is at least 15 minutes and the roads, while we’ll maintained are thin and dark. We didn’t mind the drives because during the day it’s beautiful and at night you see plenty of wildlife.
