Wonderful small hotel in the centre of the old town
3.5
It was a short walk to many city highlights. We felt like we were in the thick of things.
The rooms were smaller and not as pretty as I'd expected for a $200 (U.S.) a night hotel.

Beautiful, comfortable small hotel close to the Zocolo. The staff is friendly, helpful and professional. They carried our bags up and down the stairs, called taxis and took care of all of our needs. The hotel surrounds a beautiful courtyard where you can order a drink or a meal and relax and listen to the calls of caged birds. We had breakfast there every morning, a delicious and a wonderful convenience. This parador has a charming, traditional feel.
The hotel is on Calle Indepencia, a busy, noisy main street. The rooms face the courtyard, so rooms are quite but you can hear trucks from the courtyard and the restaurant. Not a major concern, just mentioning if for those who seek 100% quite. Or course Oaxaca is a noisy, bustling city so best to just to roll with it!

The beds were comfortable and the hotel is in an excellent location.

Hotel location is perfect. Pretty and clean room and amazing staff.
The room had no windows (I was told all rooms have only internal windows), was on the main corridor of enterence to the hotel and the bathroom window opened to a service room which was very awkward as staff came in and out all day.

We love a small breakfast, juice , fruit and of course the coffee
The only thing I have to wait 15 minutes for our room, that wasn’t a big deal anyway

Overall, we had a very nice stay at the Parador San Miguel. We loved the romantic historic architecture and the location was perfect. The staff was friendly and helpful. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were clean. The jacuzzi tubs were very slippery when wet. The bellman should recommend using the bath mat as well as signage that encourages using the bath mat when taking a shower. Our suite during our first 3 day stay was a good size and the view of the courtyard from the windows was very pleasant. However, I was disappointed that there was no window in the suite when we were put in a suite on the ground floor when we returned for a one night stay after visiting Puerto Escondido.

I paid for the included breakfast, and it was fantastic. Definitely spring for the pan dulce option, which I believe is 25 pesos, well worth it. Also, the rooftop terrace is amazing and when I was there (late March) I had the whole thing to myself.
Honestly I was happy with everything. I stayed on one of the inner-facing rooms on the third floor, and I had a great sleep. However, I can imagine that if you were a light sleeper, any room facing the street, especially on the first or second floor, could possibly be loud due to street noise. But this is a nitpick, I did not have that problem.

Great location, only a couple blocks from the main plaza. Beautifully decorated boutique hotel. Excellent service throughout the hotel, all the staff was very nice. Hilario, our waiter, who works very hard was especially attentive on providing great service. The hotel was very clean and the restaurant is pretty good. We loved waking up with the birds at the courtyard singing throughout the day. If we return to Oaxaca we will definitely stay there again.
We had some problems with the toilet clogging, but it was fixed right away. The bed was a little hard, but the pillows were great. Our room was on the third floor, and because there is no elevator, it was a little hard going up from a long day. Although our room was quiet on the third floor, the second floor would have been much better because of the stairs.
