Location a OK —-one block from a Supermarket. But surrounded by nothing. Had to walk a couple of blocks to get to stores, restaurants etc. Another positive is that it was just a 15 minute walk to the bus station
No one works at this place to check you in or deal with problems that may arise. I got there at 9:30 in the morning nobody was around it was impossible to get into my room. I kept texting and sending emails to the manager or owner, not sure who he was. It. took until 1230 before I was able to get into my room. I felt this was one step beyond absurd. When he did arrive he couldn’t of been nicer and everything was fine after that but I don’t like the fact that I’m staying in a place where nobody is there to handle problems or check in. And the needs a thorough cleaning. And the lock on the front door was broken; anybody could’ve walked in

We were only here for one night, but enjoyed our room. Everything was clean and communication was excellent. Yes, the location might appear a bit unusual, but it’s quiet at night (we slept great; it’s in walking distance to the old town and train station, and there’s a supermarket just down the street.

The host, Ami'hai, was extremely helpful and on top of arrangements, sending all the check-in information before we arrived. He came to check on us on location, and gave us excellent tips on how to get around, complete with some milk for the morning coffee. A delightful, very personable host.
For the American tourist the neighborhood may look run down and funky. Public buses route is right against the appt windows. We walked in the neighborhood at dark and had no problems, but unsure that I would recommend it for complete foreigners. However, once you enter the gate to the hotel you find yourself in a calm, charming patio, with old fruit trees, decorative pots, large vases, ceramic art pieces. And there is a hot tub. A very welcoming setting.

The location was convenient with a grocery store right around the corner and a large public parking lot across the street and a couple doors down. Cute courtyard and seemed to be a quiet neighborhood.
My credit card was charged 4 days before I arrived. I do not remember that the room was to be paid in advance so this was quite troubling. The floor was quite dirty, to the point that the bottoms of my feet were dirty by the time I got out of the shower and back to the bedroom to get dressed. The TV seemed to have some video apps but we were unable to get them working. Maybe there was a 2nd remote control that we could not locate.

Nice room design, cozy garden, big supermarket nearby, good soundproofing.
Ait conditioner was leaking right on the bed. Lack of ventilation in the room. Dirty linens.

Check in was easy. The staff was also very friendly and accommodating. The room was HUGE and bed extremely comfortable. There is a patio that's peaceful in the evening and with nice evening ambience...big palm tree and lights.
The shower didn't drain quite right, and the location was a bit isolated. However, there is a market within walking distance. There's also free parking very close by, and delicious yemenite food within driving distance.

the owner showed up to meet us when his father and staff could not speak English and we were having trouble with check in and parking. He was very nice and said he’d be back in the morning but did not come. That was no problem since by then we knew how to park on sidewalk to load bags and knew how to get out of the neighborhood.
Pulling into the area was not inviting. Parking was a public lot across from the grocery store, a short walk away and across the street. The neighborhood was quite run down, but inside the enclosure felt safe. The hot tub was communal in a courtyard across from several rooms. The room itself was small but updated and clean. I believe they are working to improve the overall house and perhaps will earn the title “suites” as they improve. I am not sure that the neighbors appreciate the tourists though.

Considering high parking prices in Israel, and the fact that Eshel Mansion is located in an exceptional place, i.e. next to a large parking lot that is free, the location is unbelievably good if you're coming by car, though it might be slightly distant from the very centre of the city. Still, it is also close to the Old Town with all its attractions, clubs, bars and sightseeing spots. The owners are hospitable, helpful and very nice. Whatever we needed, it was enough to WhatsApp them. The Mansion has its own washing machine (along with a selection of detergents and a softener) and tumble dryer that the visitors can use for free. The elderly gentleman taking care of the Mansion we met one afternoon was just amazing - such a nice and cordial person. This was not our first time at Eshel and definitely not the last one. The yard hosting a palm tree with multi-colour lighting, with a few relaxation corners, is a wonderful place to spend a romantic and relaxing evening after a strenuous day, looking in the sky and listening to very distant music coming from Old Town clubs. One more thing is worth mentioning: at a distance of 100 metres you can find a baker's with most delicious and very cheap breads, challah breads, bagels, wonderful poppy seeds babkas and other fine pastries, of course kosher.
Well, I cannot say that there were things we clearly didn't like, but I would just be happy to change three details: the insulation of the shower box was not tight enough resulting in some water spills over the bathroom floor. Secondly, I would also give up the wooden (or was it bamboo, I can't actually say now) shower box slatted mat. It's just because I simply believe that no mat at all or just plastic / rubber things are easier and more effective when it comes to anti-fungal disinfection, whereas wood / bamboo is definitely more luxurious and better looking, however more prone to collect and protect all the germs that we would not like to acquire from previous users ;-) Finally, as much as I appreciate air-conditioning, I need live air, even if very hot. That is why I cannot live without an openable window. The window in the room was physically openable, but it had quite much dust collected between its frames, virtually the effect of other guests relying only on the air-conditioning and refraining from opening it. When I opened it, I got a blow of dust in the face - a rather unpleasant experience. Other than that, the room was very clean.

You get a code for the complex's front door. The keys for the room are waiting for you in the keyhole. Therefore you can check-in any hour which is a great comfort.
Fast food stalls are just one block away and are open late.

The location is not fancy, because it is located in the historic district with many old buildings in the vicinity. The staff is not located on site - it is operated as a self check-in/ check-out, and contact with the staff is by email. There is a jacuzzi that we enjoyed, and hot water in the shower (YAY!). There are six rooms facing an enclosed patio, and there is a microwave in a common room.
The towels were hidden in the closet. Since we had no need to open the closet, we did not see the towels, and believed that perhaps a "boutique hotel" doesn't offer any, so we went and bought bath towels. Only later were we informed that we should have checked the closet. I suggested to the manager that when preparing the room for a guest, to slide open the closet door....

Very new, just updated and clean room with lots of space, a communal courtyard with a hot tub, easy walking to nearby restaurants, plentiful parking within a block, and a very warm and friendly family who runs it.

We stayed at the Negev suite. very spacious bedroom and great seperate seating area , with a nice couch and a dining table with 4 chairs suitable for hosting. the room has very high sealings. it's decorated in a lovely desert style. the shower is spacious and can fit more than one person and and everything is exceptionaly clean, well done!
The location of the premises is at the outer side of the old city, an area which not everyone will like, but has it's own special appeal.
during weekends and holidays EVERYTHING is closed and has to be taken into consideration if you move around with public transportation.
notice some of the rooms (not the one we stayed in) share a wall with a night club

The room ( #2) was spacious. The location was fine for our purposes. There is plenty of free parking space nearby. To stroll in the old market and nearby museums was a bonus. The owner was friendly & accomodating, and addressed our needs.
During the night a/c turned on and off rather noisily. Otherwise - comfortable and very fair value for price.

The room turned out to be a suite. They had a working hot tub un the patio which was an unexpected bonus. The coffee in the room was fine.
The outdoor surroundings (location) are deserted and unfriendly at night so we didn't care to park our car nearby.
