About this house rental
Albury House is a thatched 17th century spacious, stylish and comfortable family home in the centre of Charmouth, ideal all year round for large families to enjoy quality time together. There are two attractive reception rooms, each with a television and comfortable seating, plus a library and reading area, and a separate conservatory with a table and chairs. The well-equipped kitchen has an Aga and family dining area, and extends galley style with two further areas to allow for easy meal preparation, and includes a dedicated coffee station with pod machine. A study, a useful utility area, and a cloakroom, complete the ground floor accommodation.
Two separate staircases lead you to the five first floor bedrooms, and all are all light and airy, with four having en-suite facilities. A generous family bathroom with roll top bath and separate shower enclosure completes the first floor accommodation, along with a small snug area off the rear landing. For those wishing to accommodate 12 guests, a fold-away bed or sofa bed are available when booking.
Guests are well catered for with Fibre Broadband, Sky with Sky Sports HD and Sky Cinema HD, an Xbox 360, and plenty of games, books, DVDs and children's toys. Outside there is a pretty and enclosed large garden, mostly laid to lawn with trees and shrubs, and with a good-sized paved terrace complete with wooden table and chairs for 10, a parasol and barbecue. A full-size table tennis table, football net, cricket set and trampoline will ensure that everyone will enjoy time spent outside, and there is plenty of off-road parking at the rear of the property.
The local shops, takeaway and pub are just a short stroll away, and famous Charmouth Beach is just a five minute walk from the front door. The beach is great for families with lots of sand, especially at low tide, safe swimming, picnic areas, cafe and beach shop, and is perfect for rock-pooling, fossil hunting and exploring the Jurassic Coast. The beach has been filmed regularly for television programmes due to its unique Jurassic history and dinosaur connections, and the Charmouth Heritage Coast Centre has fossil displays and organises fossil finding walks. Nearby is ever-popular Lyme Regis with its iconic Cobb, beaches and fossil museum, and a short drive away are Westbay with its harbour, Abbotsbury with its Swannery, the market town of Bridport, and the county town of Dorchester. Whilst being conveniently located for exploring Dorset, Charmouth is also close to the Devon border, so trips to the coastal favourites of Sidmouth, Seaton and Beer are also recommended.

A very enjoyable holiday. Great location and the garden with football net; trampoline and other facilities was a real treat.
Blessed with excellent weather which meant we could eat in the garden every night.
Well equipped with toys and other entertainment for the family.
We had such a fun time there. Thank you.
Advertised as a house where dogs were not allowed but we found two dog bowls on the floor in the kitchen and a dog basket complete with dog hairs. Just a warning for anyone with a dog allergy.
It would be helpful to be given instructions to turn the arger down as it gives out a lot of heat which is uncomfortable in hot weather.
Also some cooking utensils are ready for replacing. I had to give them a very thorough clean before using them. Minor points but would make me even more confident recommending it to friends.

We had a wonderful stay at Albury House with extended family. The garden was perfect for 5 young boys. The house was very comfortable, spacious and so well equipped. The location was great, a short walk to the beach or easy access to main routes to other destinations along the coast. We would highly recommend it and would love to revisit in the future. Thank you for a superb holiday.

A great property in a brilliant location, especially with kids given the short stroll to the beach!
The property was great for a large group. For kids the second TV/playroom was areal asset, leaving the living room for quiete enjoyment by adults. The kitchen is 25 paces long, spanning three adjoining rooms. emptying glasses from the washer involved a long walk, for example. The owners need to cut down on the kitchen utensils and appliances to make more space for food preparation and reorganise the kitchen equipment, especially cutlery and utensils to make the whole set up less confusing and more convenient. There's generally far to much stuff and ornaments in the house, leaving little space for guests to put things.
These are intended as constructive feedback from a holiday home owners to another. Wee had a great stay with brilliant weather. So many thanks.

Family celebration
We chose Charmouth for a family holiday as it offered something for everyone. Our group ranged in age from 2 to 80 and the house and garden provided everything we needed, including a large sheltered garden and plenty of space indoors. We were fortunate to enjoy a dry, sunny week, but were reassured that there was a good selection of activities available indoors as well. We’d definitely consider coming here again and would certainly recommend it to others.

A week at Albury House.
Albury house was to allow the gathering for the celebration by family(8) of a 70th birthday! It did not disappoint.
All very straight forward by Dorset Hideaways to secure for our time.
The house and gardens all very spacious as is the parking for easily for 4 cars, which we needed.
The generous welcome pack allow us to get off to a good start, tea and cake all round.
Blessed with sunshine the trampoline and full size quality table tennis table and kit came into their own for the young, and young at heart, leading to the need for a trophy. Full use also made patio and garden furniture as garden also gets its fair amount of sun.
Entertainment in the house also well catered for given our mixed ages. Tech savvy persons an advantage from older(74) point of view.
Team work enabled full English breakfasts to be produced from the Aga and conventional cooker.
The Royal Oak pub across the road from the house needs a mention, did us proud(11), Saturday evening and Sunday lunch, need to book early, as great food good value and the "Team" for attentive service. Midweek too.

Lovely family holiday
We had a lovely family holiday, we loved the garden, table tennis and trampoline . Being able to walk down to the beach and further from the house was also an advantage. It took us a while to navigate the kitchen but it was fully equipped. Ralph (on call) maintenance man ) was immediately available and helpful.
Thank you.

Our 4th year
Our 4th year, and an excellent property as the children begin to grow up.
With 3 seating areas, the big family kitchen table, the safe garden and the terrace with the barbecue, it caters excellently for our 3 families, with children niw from 2 to 8
A new fence and trampline this year, but otherwise just the same as ever.

Excellent Family Break
We we’re a family of 10, ranging from 6months - 65 years. We all thoroughly enjoyed our time at Albury house. The cottage was superb, with everything you could ever need. Only improvement would be to swap the bunk room to a double room as children don’t really need a en-suite but this never impacted our stay as we shared. The location is great. We had a slight issue with the hot water however within 15mins of reporting the maintenance guy came round sorted & was very helpful and gave lots of information on things to do in the area. Overall amazing stay in a great house in a superb location, will definitely be back!

Superbly appointed house
We had a fab stay here. House was spacious and first class in term of location and cleanliness. The inside was very well appointed and the owners have gone above and beyond to make the house extremely comfortable for guests. Well situated for coastal walks and fossil hunting. Would certainly recommend it to others.

Family holiday for 7 people - 3 generations.
A beautiful house with enclosed garden.
Inside was every thing you needed for a Family holiday - and so much more.
It was well furnished with plenty of rooms for everyone to do their own thing.
It was spotlessly clean with plenty of towels .
The cooking utensils, China, glasses cutlery were plentiful and immaculate clean.
There were toys, games, books, for children and adults. Also trampoline and table tennis outside.
The situation close to shops , beach and bus stop were ideal.
We have been having family holidays for years and this was the best house by far. Can’t wait to return nextvyear

Excellant property for a larger family get together
Albury House exceeded our expectations, for a wider family get together of 9 people including three young children/babies. The facilities were great, especially the patio area and barbeque adjacent to the house plus the other one at the top of a long garden adjacent to trampoline and mini goal and net.
The kitchen had an unusual layout, but was great for family dining, with the working Aga really appreciated. Bedrooms, living areas, conservatory, and bathrooms all excellent.
Will seriously consider staying again.
