About this house rental
The Captain William Morgan House, a sea captain's home circa 1850. Completely renovated in 2010, this Greek Revival maintains all of its original charm as well as modern amenities. It is located in the heart of downtown Mystic's historic district- leave your car and walk everywhere!
The yard is entirely fenced in. There is a sitting porch on the front and a large, covered, pillared porch on the back of the house. We created a 6 ft. granite fire pit in the back as well as another patio. Vegetable and flower gardens surround the property.
Mystic River views are seen from most windows and the back yard. You can hear boat whistles, church bells and sea sounds. My property is a double sized lot, very private, peaceful and relaxing!

The Captain Morgan house in downtown Mystic is the perfect place to stay for anyone looking for comfortable accommodations in a prime spot. The house itself was unique, clean, and had a beautiful back deck overlooking the manicured back yard. We were able to walk everywhere downtown from Mystic Pizza to the drawbridge, without needing to move our cars the whole weekend…a huge plus! We would not hesitate to book this house with Susan again!

We rented this for a sisters (4) gathering. We all live in CT but decided to do a VRBO do we could spend quality time together This is a perfect location. Everything is within walking distance. A wrll stock kitchen afforded us the pleasure of cooking breakfast together. Beautiful grounds in a quiet neighborhood. We are planning on returning in the fall.

The house was beautiful full of nice amenities. The kitchen was stocked and both bathrooms had everything we needed. The furnishings were very nice and comfortable. All the bedrooms except the first floor bedroom had air conditioning. The outdoor space was wonderful and enclosed so our dogs and toddler could enjoy it without fear of going in the street. Herman was very friendly and social. The one challenge was street parking. We managed acceptably but at times we had to park further away than expected. The location of the property to downtown Mystic was fantastic. A very easy walk to main street and the draw bridge. We had a wonderful time there.

We were 8 college friends getting together to catch up. It was great sitting on the back porch enjoying the garden and Herman (the friendliest dog). We will definitely return!

This was our family's second stay at the Captain's House. It's just a lovely place and Sue is a great host. The house was clean with thoughtful fresh cut flowers throughout. It has great spaces to gather, a well stocked gourmet kitchen and a huge back porch overlooking the gardens. Very walkable neighborhood with downtown Mystic shops and cafes just a few blocks away. Highly recommend.

We were lucky to have booked the Capt. William Morgan House nearly 10 months out as needed a large home to accommodate 8 plus the family dog. The house is wonderful, especially the back porch / yard and the one block walk to the heart of the Downtown Main Street Mystic. Susan the host was excellent and very accommodating. Our 4 nite stay was for our son's wedding at Saltwater Vineyard and and we could not have picked a more perfect place with all the wedding logistics with having relatives stop by, wedding photos of the Grooms men in the lovely backyard, and having a few relatives over for a quick breakfast on the patio the morning after the wedding as family/friends departed town. Again, Susan was very helpful and accommodating with good communication. The fenced in yard is perfect for your family dog, but realize the entire yard is actually part of a shared compound with 2 other cottages and the Landlord's home so you will be sharing the yard with the Landlords very sweet retriever and if any of the cottage guests have a dog, so you gotta hope your dog gets along with other dogs because the dogs have free roam. We were concerned at first but the dogs got along. Parking is on the street, which in downtown Mystic can be tricky....fortunately Susan keeps some cones handy so we were able to keep a spot out front. Again great stay, wonderful house, and we could walk to nearly everything! We love VRBO's to experience homes in towns you'd want to own yourself!

I wish I could give TEN stars to Sue and her fabulous home. She has taken such care to ensure guests have a positive, mind-blowing experience. The interiors are gorgeous with designer attention to detail, personality, and lots of home-spun charm. The house has everything one could want, and Sue is highly responsive to all communications. She even made us delicious lobster rolls upon request for a special event we were having with our family. I'd go back again and again. It's a home away from home now. Thank you Sue for making our stay such an exceptional experience. :)

Beautiful, historic house in the perfect Mystic neighborhood. You can walk to all the downtown spots one way, and a view over the river to the seaport the other way. The house is comfortable and charming and the checkout was super easy. Thank you!

We had a wonderful stay at Susan's house. It was just perfect for what we needed. The house is spacious, clean, fully equipped, there was room for everyone, the kids really enjoyed the outdoor space, and Susan was a perfect host, discrete and extremely helpful. She gave us great tips on what to do in the surroundings. We hope to be back soon.

The Captain Robert Morgan house was a perfect choice for a girls' weekend! Sue made the process so seamless from start to finish and really thought of everything to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable! The house was so charming and had so much great space for our guests. The backyard and porch areas were also lovely and made for an extra relaxing experience! Also, super close to the downtown area and easy to walk to so many different shops and restaurants. It was fabulous!

We had a wonderful stay in Mystic! The house is absolutely beautiful, and it is in walking distance to everything downtown. Our dog loved the big, fenced in yard (and Herman), and we enjoyed sitting at night on the lovely back porch! Sue is such a welcoming and gracious host. We had everything we needed! We are looking forward to staying longer next time. The Curtis Family and Charlie

What a wonderful property! The house is lovely, anything you could possibly need is there. We didn’t use the kitchen but there are enough glasses, cutlery, plates and pots and pans for many meals. The property is beautiful. We camped out on the back porch during the day, then sat in the sun on the front porch in the evening. The beds are comfortable and everything is very clean. And the location is perfect. A very short walk to downtown. The owner is wonderful to deal with and very helpful. My kids loved playing with the owner’s dog, he was a huge hit!!!! My only disappointment is when we got home and looked to book the house again, it was already booked. But we will be back, another weekend, very soon!

My family had an amazing time in Mystic while staying at The Captain William Morgan house. Sue was very responsive and greeted us upon our arrival. The house was perfect for our family of eight guests, with room and beds to spare. There is a very spacious back porch and yard for the family to enjoy. The house is located less than a five minute walk to the center of town and is also a great spot for runners. We were extremely pleased with our experience.

We had a great weekend here with 9 girls. We all had plenty of space. The patio is the highlight of this property. We would sit and talk for hours. I highly recommend this property for a spacious getaway, where each couple can have their own space and enjoy eachothers company.

I stayed in the home with 5 friends from high school for a girls weekend. Mystic was a central location and I found the Captain Morgan house and it was perfect. We all loved the home and the location. It was the perfect number of bedrooms and baths. We were all very comfortable. The back porch was absolutely lovely. We spent an entire evening out there chatting and laughing.
The home was very clean and the host, Sue, was great to communicate with. She had the house well appointed with everything you would need for your stay.
The home was only 2 blocks from downtown Mystic. Once we got a parking spot on the street, we didn't move our vehicles until we left. Everything is a 10 minute walk from the house.
I strongly recommend this home for a stay.

6 college friends from the Class of 1987 rented this beautiful home for a girls weekend. It was perfect, so comfortable. There was plenty of room for all of us and a great back porch for a gabfest that lasted till late in the evening. The house is situated so close to downtown that we parked on Friday and didn’t get in the cars again till we left on Sunday.
Sue was a perfect host. Very responsive to all of our questions. It was a great time that we hope we can do again.

My family and I stayed at Sue's beautiful Captain's House for 5 days and enjoyed every minute. If you like historic homes, you'll be amazed of what Sue has done with it. It's eclectic, beautiful and full of interesting furnishings. It has any modern convenience you could look for. The back porch and yard are amazing. Only 2 blocks from the shops in Mystic village and the famous draw bridge. Sue was very intentive and really easy to communicate with. We'd stay there again in a minute.

The property was uniquely charming. Very clean and easy walk to downtown. The listing was a bit confusing while the house sleeps 10 it is advertised as 8. We had 9 family members so their was an additional charge of $75 for the extra person. It was unclear if it was a flat fee of $75 or per night. Turns out it was per night which was a bit of a surprise. All in all our stay was enjoyable. I would recommend this property.

We loved staying at captain Morgan house! Susan was super accommodating and responded quickly to all my questions. The house itself is lovely with beds for all 6 of us plus a few extra! We enjoyed cooking in the well appointed kitchen and spent lots of time on the back porch and in the yard playing bocce, and laying in the hammock. The house is a 2 minute walk into town which made it very convenient to walk to restaurants and bars. There isn’t a market within walking distance but it was a short car ride. Would come back again for sure! It was lovely!!

This property was comfortable, historical, and restored beautifully. The house is perfect for families & had niches for small sub gatherings , or quiet space to talk. The kitchen is central and wonderfully stocked. A good amount of windows let in natural day light, but lighting at night was low in many parts of the house and might need to be aware for those with low vision.

My family and I have been meeting in Mystic for Thanksgiving the previous few years, and this year we came across the Captain Morgan House. This house was absolutely perfect in many ways! The size of the house fit our family perfectly (9 people), the location was just steps away from downtown Mystic, and they even allow dogs on the property! Sue was an amazing host, letting us check in early and responding quickly to any questions we had. I highly highly recommend this home to any group wanting a relaxing and fun getaway in Mystic! :)

For the overall price, the property was not professionally cleaned yet you are charged a cleaning fee. You are also asked to strip the bedding and place towels in washer despite paying for the additional cleaning fee. The air conditioning is loud and does not work properly. The bedding is mediocre. Would be more economical to stay at a hotel and have all of the above mentioned items included.

What began as a small couples getaway turned into a husband’s getaway. The guys were VERY pleased! The house is just beautiful, with ample space and very tastefully decorated. They loved the fact that they were close to everything! Susan (property owner) was always just a text away to answer any questions. I would highly recommend the property and will definitely book again!!
