Lovely quiet location overlooking Lake.
Comfortable new sofas. Open plan layout. Dog friendly.

The location of the cottage was amazing and the views were stunning.
Very spacious and comfortable

Great location & lovely space inside. Had everything we needed!
Cant be helped but the upstairs floors were very creaky!
4.2
Very peaceful and quiet, exactly what we wanted
4.2
The location was superb
Some of the equipment was very worn and the frying pan for example would probably not pass any health and safety regulations as the non stick was peeling off!

Excellent location. Lovely cottage

Great location. Went with my elderly Mum & husband. We're familiar with Derbyshire and this location is perfect for where we wanted to go.
Darwin Lakes is a fantastic place to stay regardless of how many of you there are.
Wifi a bit intermittent

Cottage had lovely views over the lake. Great location, ideal for exploring the surrounding areas. Plenty of room on ground floor. Very practical flooring for the dog.
Broken and loose slabs on path to cottage.
Cottage decor was a bit tired. Mouldy grout in en-suite shower. Missing seal on shower door in bathroom.
4.2
Lovely property, a great location, and very amenable staff. We actually ended up with an upgrade which was lovely. The site is so peaceful lovely views of the lake.
A few more basics like disinfectant spray & Bin bags would have been great. We didn't realize there was building work going on directly to the rear which was a shame, we weren't in during the majority of their work but would have been good to know - although can't complain too much due to the upgrade.

The location was beautiful and 2 miles from Matlock.
The cleanliness left a lot to be desired. Thick cobwebs on the ceilings and walls, skirting boards very dusty, shower head black and mouldy and needed refurb. The cooker wasn’t clean and the fridge had sticky gunge inside the bottom shelf. We washed the bowls, plates and cutlery before use, as not clean enough. The cleaners really need to deep clean especially as covid is still a big thing.

warm cosy cottage at very reasonable price
4.2
Nice quiet clean and comfortable stay.
4.2
Central to places & on a beautiful lake
How dirty it was.
4.2
Property was very clean, spacious and comfortable. Really good location - only an 8 min drive from Matlock.
Lack of recycling, the cot for our baby was not a cot - it was a play pen, so we could not use it
4.2
The location was great, ideally situated for the palces we wanted to see. The cottage overlooked a lake and it was peaceful. Overall the cottage was fine, but it needed some TLC.
The rooms could have been cleaner. The BBQ area was a tiny path at the back and we couldn't use the table. Wifi was non-existant, not good when you want to look up places to visit, eat, etc.
4.2
Location is nice, there are roads around the lake but not heard much. Cool on hot days.
More cleaning time needed. Our end cottage was ideal for people to fish from.
4.2
The path around the lake made for easy early morning dog walks. Use of key safe gave great flexibility on arrival time which turned out to be crucial as we had a lot of traffic on the journey up. The book of walks in the visitor information pack was really useful.
The only thing I found not to my preference was that the curtains, beautiful though they were, did not block out light in the mornings. So, if you are some one who needs darkness for sleep you might want to pack eye guards.
4.2
really peaceful location, ample space and comfortable and cosey
if I had to be really picky the internet connection. although it was also nice to be away from it all
4.2
Pretty cottage and beautiful views. The cottage had everything we needed. The staff were really helpful and called ahead to ask if we needed a high chair because we had requested a travel cot, which I thought was excellent customer service.
There wasn’t anything we didn’t like. The only thing I could suggest was that the cottage could do with a fresh paint/tidy up.
4.2
location and WiFi was excellent
was a bit dated and needed some upgrading. a lick of paint isn’t difficult to apply!!
4.2
good location and great with pets
quality of the beds were not good
4.2
The location was lovely. House good in parts. Too many objects.
Very poor mattress in main bedroom. It was changed after two nights. One radiator down stairs did not work.. Room very cold on arrival.
4.2
The location was lovely, really tranquil and relaxing. The cottage was very nicely decorated and furnished. All the facilities we needed.
The WiFi was intermittent but not really an issue for us.
4.2
It was nice to sit by the lake in the evening
Water pipes vibrating loudly and for quite some time when you run a bath (not helpful when putting a small child to bed). Shower that was either red hot or very cold, shower attached to taps had broken unuseable shower head. Dirty childs mattress in the wardrobe, dirty coffee maker in the kitchen, half used shower gel and hair in the second bedroom en suite shower cubicle.

It's a great location, great place and very idyllic ! We will return again...
Our house was next to the lake which could not have any better location. BBQ was all set up.
House was squeeky clean.. perfect.. 5 stars !!!
The master bedroom mattress must be changed. It was fluffier than a pillow and we could feel all the springs on the bed. Had to sleep on sofa.
Internet connection should be a little faster considering these days we all watch streaming services.

Excellent location, ideal for walking. Cottage clean and spacious.
