This place was spectacular. Seamless in all ways and it has everything you can possibly need.

This is a lovely home with beautiful views of and access to a great uncrowded beach. Easy drive to some decent to great restaurants and other great beach areas. Nicely equipped kitchen and grill area. But the pool design has two flaws. The steps narrow for no apparent reason and it’s easy to simply miss with one foot. Also the deck surface is slippery and caused some issues. Overall it was a great place to hang out with friends but in that one respect be careful.

Dazed & confused and not happy with the unnecessary reasons for not being able to give it 5 stars, but we feel the property owner should get the reasons first out of respect. Please respond.
Respectfully waiting.

Our family LOVED this VRBO! The house is very spacious and easily worked for 9 of us. It is too difficult to pick one favorite part of the house/property.
The deck/pool was an amazing spot to hang out with family and the third floor deck was equally awesome for yoga and quieter moments.
The beach is a short walk away and we enjoyed daily walks. So many beautiful shells to see and a few in our group found some great waves to try out the boogie boards.
We had groups go zip lining in the area and check out Tamarindo along with the restaurants/markets in the local area.
We have to agree with all the reviews that mention gorgeous sunsets. During our 8 night stay, we had the most amazing and memorable sunsets on the beach and both decks of the house!
There were flowers blooming, a pineapple, palm trees as well as many butterflies, birds, geckos and more right on the property.
This VRBO allows for much needed R&R and is a short distance away to many hopping places for those who are looking for excursions, new adventures or shopping.

The house is beyond beautiful. The views were incredible with the ocean in your backyard and basically our own private beach. The kitchen had everything we needed. The layout of the bedroom suites was perfect for privacy for each couple. The pool is small but we really did not have any issues with it being too crowded. The house is very remote but is perfect if you are looking for a relaxing vacation. Definitely would stay again.

Castillo de Coral offers very comfortable bedroom suites with spacious bathrooms, a well equipped kitchen (loved the ice maker), and easy direct access to a beautiful beach. This was our third stay in the Junquillal region and we really like its unspoiled nature.
Guests at Castillo de Coral will need to have transportation available as it is not really in walking distance to any restaurants or groceries. The infinity pool is small but beautiful; it needs to be cleaned more than once a week. Safes in three of the four bedrooms were not working, and property manager was unable to resolve that issue.

The house was absolutely beautiful and we had 10 guests/5 couples and it was nice that all the rooms had their own barhrooms. The views from the deck was amazing especially the sun sets. We had a caterer that was listed in the guest book come 2 nights and oh WOW the food was Amazing. It was Lila Palacios of Cocina Lila. I would also highly recommend them also. I would definitely come back and stay.

Great home for large groups as it has 5 bedrooms with super comfy beds. The direct access to the deserted beach and infinity pool made it the perfect location for true rest and relaxation. Issues we had with sinks not draining was dealt with immediately. The howler monkeys came to visit us twice in the large tree just next to the house! This quiet village of Junquillal has some great restaurants, friendly locals, but the roads are challenging with washouts and potholes galore. SUV highly recommended. Use care when swimming due to riptides and always lock doors. Avoid grocery shopping in Santa Cruz- we had bags stolen from a locked car in a "guarded" parking lot of the major grocery store. Prices weren't even less than the local store in Juanquillal and they didn't even have peanut butter. Tamarindo may be better option for larger shopping if you're planning on cooking.

Our family loved our Costa Rica vacation at this great beach property. The home was beautiful, with plenty of space for our family of 8. Lots of extra conveniences were provided, and communicating with the caretakers was quick and easy. The pool was much enjoyed and the sunsets were amazing. The highlight was the beach, only steps away. Our family loved playing in the large waves and trying out our surfing skills. The sand is soft and clean and perfect for walking along the ocean, and we felt quite secluded. We enjoyed quite a few of the local restaurants and highly recommend this quiet corner of Guanacaste.

Hands down the most relaxing vacation I have taken. The house was amazing - layout, location, etc. And the pool. Oh, the pool. It ruined me - I can't imagine staying at a beach without one like this. And the beach is amazing, clean, empty and exotic (we were there in July 2023). Simply the best.
A few hints:
1) Get What's App and use it to communicate.
2) IMMEDIATELY after booking, FOLLOW THE LINK to the house / area guide that you will be sent. It was full of useful information about the house, local eateries and outings that would have made things much smoother if I had used it.
3) I relied on the VRBO check-in information, but it was out-of-date and caused some drama. If anything happens during your stay, don't panic, Georgina was very responsive. This is the only thing that keeps this from being a straight-up 5 star review on every element.
4) Make sure all the doors are locked before setting the alarm - don't ask me how I know. There is a phone on the first floor - you will get a call from security.
5) Watch out for the post in the driveway when backing if your rental doesn't have a camera - trust me, if you don't turn and look, you will hit something. Again, don't ask how I know.
6) I found this listing searching for the Tamarindo area - it's not really, but it was a fortuitous mistake. If you want a popular tourist / resort experience, this is not the place for you.
7) Get ready for the most amazing trip.

This house did not disappoint at all. Photos doesn't give it justice, which is hard because the photos are amazing. We were 4 couples that stayed there and everyone said the beds were very comfortable, so comfortable that when i got home i ordered one of the mattress toppers they have. Everything that is needed was in the home and had all updated appliances.

Beautiful house. The only disconcerting procedure was not being able to flush toilet paper.

We went as couples and brought our 17-year-old daughters. This house was exactly what we needed. Four masters with King beds, and one room with four beds for all of the girls. Practically a private beach on gorgeous black sand…. And a short drive to everything that you could want, we enjoyed nearby towns and restaurants- definitely recommend!

The property manager was extremely responsive to several kinks we had upon arrival. Her English was great and she was lovely. The stay was great and we’d go back again!!!

Castillo de Coral is a solidly built, comfortable, well-equipped, perfectly located home about 1 mile from Junquillal’s main square. Steps from a deserted and trash-free beach, where you can walk day and night safely - star-gazing, turtle nest searching, birding, shell-hunting, or just soaking up the fresh air and peaceful energy of Junquillal. Some of our party drove into Tamarindo to dive/shop, others wandered to Ostional & San Juanillo, but we enjoyed phenomenal sunsets then dinners at home every night and slept very comfortably afterwards. We even saw whales on the horizon during one sunset! Needless to say we highly recommend this location and home. You will not be disappointed if you are seeking a natural, low-key, and private vacation.

The house was perfect for our group of 10 adults. Beds were extremely comfortable, house was very clean and laid out perfect for privacy and gatherings. Thank you to Georgina for arranging German baker and fish guy to deliver to the house.

On our first night 10 minutes after we left, we were robbed. The security system was armed, the door was locked. The second sorry windows were open. We put everything into the safe as advised. The thief’s used a kitchen knife to broke open the safe and took all our money, an Mac book and an iPad. The safes are not sturdy!!! This was caught with the security camera however we were SOL. We spend the next day filing a report and started the vacation off poorly. Outside of this the house is nice. The location is beautiful. I do recommend 4x4 we definitely needed it.

Pictures don’t the house or beach any justice
Amazing vacation! The house is perfect for big groups and the beach is soooo beautiful. It felt like we had that whole beach all to ourselves. The water can be rough but there are many hours of the day that you can get in there and have lots of fun in the waves. The restaurants in the area were so great. Don’t want your time or money going further away for food, our best dinners were at the simplest places right in the area. The little markets in the area also have everything you need. We will definitely come back

Amazing Location, Property and Attention To Detail
The owners did an amazing job of building this new home and then setting this place up in a perfect way for renters. Things are still very new, which is a bonus and they seem to care about attention to detail. The property is more remote, so perfect if you don't want to be in the hustle and bustle of a bigger city, but you can still drive about 30 minutes to Tamarindo. You can boogie board right on the beach with smaller and very consistent waves and either go to a local restaurant 5 to 15 minutes away or make your own stuff in their gourmet kitchen. The horseback riding place is two doors down and not to be missed! You can do a sunset, sunrise, lunch and even a river excursion with the horses that includes even traveling in the water if you want...something unheard of in the U.S. these days. We kept meaning to eat at other places, but the Guacamayan resort is just too darn tasty, so most of our meals out where at that beautiful hilltop place. It feels very safe there, but they also have an alarm and take good precautions, so there is no worries. The pool is small, but all you need for quick dunking in the hot sun or at night, since it is right on the 2nd floor balcony. All and all, a dreamy place that lives up to its amazing reputation!

This house was awesome. The pictures do not do it justice. It was more than enough room for our party of 13. The views were spectacular, and Georgina was great in helping with whatever we needed, including at home covid testing. Would love to stay here again.

Wonderful house with a beach all to our own
The house was terrific---right on the quiet beach and well appointed for our one week stay. Communication with Georgina was easy and fast (use WhatsApp as suggested). She responded VERY quickly to our questions and had a couple of minor issues fixed quickly. The location is off the beaten track, which we valued. We went to Tamarindo one day and while fun, it was much more crowded. From the house, It is easy to get to a small grocery store with a car. Jimmy Roman, an awesome tour guide and nature expert, helped us find unique outings and restaurants. We enjoyed evening sunsets on the decks, strolls on the beach, and the waves were great for surfing. Terrific stay!

Everything about Costillo De Coral exceeded my expectations. The location, the home, and the constant sound of the ocean waves crashing outside our door was like Heaven on Earth. Georgina, our Property Manage, is fabulous. She helped us all throughout our stay, answered questions immediately and was on call to help us out when we needed it. This was by far the best vacation rental experience of my life!

Remote luxury on a secluded beach
Beautiful, clean home with comfortable, ample amenities, all on a flat, secluded beach that’s easy to walk on, along with local surf for experienced surfers. Easily suited our 2 families with 4 adults and 4 teens. While remote, there were 2 small markets within driving distance that stocked all we required. We hired a recommended local chef to prepare our first dinner and breakfast on-site--highly recommend for convenience. Communication from property manager both prior to arrival and while on-site was thorough and prompt. While the beachside palapa belongs to the house/property, locals were constantly driving up a nearby dirt path, parking adjacent to the property, and using the palapa which was unexpected. Overall, we highly recommend this home!

Excellent house for a group of families
We had a great time at Castillo De Coral. The house was perfect for sharing with two other families. Every room has a full bathroom and a closet… doesn’t get more comfortable than that. We had a week there and there is a small supermarket and a few restaurants close by so that was nice. We basically had our own private beach. So if you are into secluded quiet time, the place is awesome.
We had a bread truck and a fish truck come to the house with the freshest of things. Our manager, Georgina, was extremely helpful and she arranged a masseuse and a private chef for us… and she was so patient and kind. We loved our stay at Castillo De Coral.

40th Birthday Celebration
This house was perfect for celebrating my daughter’s 40th birthday. It is right on the beach, the deck and deck pool were perfect in the early morning and after spending time at the beach. The bedrooms were wonderful as were the baths. Very nice towels and sheets. Kitchen was fully equipped and the island was perfect for all of us to hang out and cook together. Dining table was large enough for all of us to eat together and play games. A perfect get away. Not very close to restaurants, shops, nightlife, etc, but we did go out one day and had a great lunch at Lolas. Internet service was terrific. We felt very safe with no issues. Will highly recommend this house for a family or group .

Amazing location but house had some issues
Home is beautiful with comfy beds, lovely bathrooms, well equipped kitchen and a world class view. Water stopped coming out of the taps 4 of the 10 days of our stay, on day 4, the caretaker finally brought some water. House needs some work(washing machine and dishwasher didn't work, toilets make noise for hours after flush, etc.) but very enjoyable overall!

We had a wonderful stay here! The house is amazing. The beach itself is gorgeous and it’s almost always empty. I loved the location because it’s away from the busy tourist areas while also still being close enough to do those sorts of activities if we wanted. As other reviewers have mentioned, I would highly recommend renting an SUV for getting around on the dirt roads nearby. We went in March (toward the end of dry season) and with an SUV we had no issues whatsoever driving around. Junquillal is a bit more remote also so it is nice to be able to get around on your own to get groceries and eat out without relying on taxis, etc. Kelly and Georgina were always super responsive to any questions we had which helped us greatly in planning our trip. Overall this place is awesome and we hope to make the trip back someday!

Costa Rican Paradise
We just returned from a 2 week stay @ Castillo de Coral & Playa Junquillal. We rented this awesome house with 3 other couples, and it was the perfect spot for our vacation. The house is located on a quiet strand of black sand beach - so peaceful and perfect for early morning walks, shelling, boogie boarding, and sunset watching. The house has everything you need - a swim up bar/pool (great for cooling off after a day on the beach), 5 bedrooms w/ ensuite baths (very private layout on 2 separate floors), laundry room, an expansive kitchen w/ everything you need to prepare meals, 2 full size refrigerators, comfy beds, a large dining table for 8, and a view to die for. We loved watching the amazing sunsets from the deck. In addition, Catherine, the house caretaker, was a great help with directions, suggestions, and setting up excursions like fishing and sailing. We really appreciated her friendly assistance, and we loved her adorable dog, Suki. This was our 2nd trip to the area of Playa Junquillal, and if you are looking for a peaceful place for some R&R, this is it. There is a great little store nearby which has everything you need. In addition there are several wonderful restaurants nearby with delicious food at very affordable prices. We can't wait to go back! Thank you for a relaxing and fun 2 weeks!
