What a wonderful place.
What a wonderful place. The bungalow itself was very clean and comfortable. The location was perfect for us, at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac and only a few minutes walk to shops, cafes and restaurants with Seahouses Harbour just 10minutes walk. The house isn't big or luxurious but was absolutely perfect. The welcoming gifts of cake, wine and dog treats and toys were delightful. We had a late arrival time, the heating and lights were on for us and there was milk in the fridge for a cup of tea. We will definitely be back.

A great cottage.
A great cottage. Very welcoming, especially for our dog. Lots of lovely touches like wine and cake for us, and biscuits and a toy for the dog. Very safe and well equipped. We had a much needed restful holiday.

The bungalow was absolutely spotless and we really appreciated the welcome pack that we found on arrival - bread, milk, a bottle of wine and a delicious cake. (We found out it from from Trotters on the High Street and ordered another later in the week).
I took a load of things with us, thinking we would need them as we were self catering but I needn’t have bothered. The owners have thought of absolutely everything - from tea and coffee to every imaginable item that you could need in the kitchen. There was a clean dog bed in the property and a lovely pack for the dog, including a bag of treats, some toys and a roll of poo bags.
The bungalow is set at the end of a cul de sac in a small, quiet development of similar properties and only 5 minutes walk from the main high street. I also loved that there was a secure back garden that was ideal for the dog.
Our only slight niggle were that the beds and the pillows were a little too firm for us but I understand that you can’t cater to everyone’s tastes. The mattress in the main bedroom also seemed to slope down at one edge (on the patio door side), so after the first night we swapped rooms with our son and he slept in the middle of the bed of the main bedroom and we took the smaller double room and slept much better.
We would definitely recommend Cleats Retreat to anyone wanting to visit this beautiful part of the country and we’d certainly stay there again.

This is one of the best holiday cottages We’ve stayed in.
This is one of the best holiday cottages We’ve stayed in. There was a very generous and delicious welcome pack plus a curtesy visit from the owner when we arrived to check everything was OK. The cottage is tasteful with lots of carefully thought out details, such a shoe horn in the wardrobe. It is spotless and very comfortable. It is a very quiet location so we got good sleep, yet it’s just a short walk to all the amenities in Seahouses

This is the best self catering we have stayed in England.
This is the best self catering we have stayed in England. The cottage is comfortable, cosy and beyond clean. Everything you might need is there including a very well equipped kitchen, it really is a home from home. Very comfortable beds and lovely patio into the garden from the main bedroom which I imagine would be gorgeous in better weather.
On a personal level, we were greeted with fresh cream cake, wine and milk in the fridge and fresh bread and preserves. The dining table was set with a chocolate each on the plates and some milky bar buttons on the highchair; a lovely touch. The owner came to see us to check everything was OK and was easy to contact if needed, very friendly.
I couldn't possibly fault this accommodation and would most certainly recommend it highly and stay again if in the area.
