About this house rental
Elegant Victorian townhouse on a residential street in North Malvern with wooded hillside opposite. High ceilings and large sash windows provide natural light and stunning views across the Severn Valley.
Direct access to the Malvern Hills and only a 15-minute walk into town. Ideal base for walking holidays, Malvern Theatres, the Three Counties Showground and long weekends.
Sympathetically updated with central heating throughout and underfloor heating on the lower ground floor (kitchen and dining room), the house is great for all seasons as it is cosy in the winter and you can eat outside in the summer.
HOUSE DETAILS
Five bedrooms: one king size, three doubles (one of which can be turned into a twin room) and one single. There is a double sofa-bed in one of the sitting rooms and a single foldaway bed is available for use in communal spaces or in the larger bedrooms. A travel cot is also available. Bed linen is provided and spare items are available.
Two shared bathrooms (one on the first floor and one on the second floor) each with a bath and a shower over the bath. Towels, soap, shower gel, shampoo and loo paper are provided.
Dining room has a large table that can seat 10 and has French windows onto the terrace and garden, where there is a gas-fired barbecue grill.
Kitchen equipment includes a double oven, five-ring gas hob, dishwasher (with some tablets), two under-counter fridges, microwave, kettle, Nespresso coffee machine (with some capsules), toaster and blender. There is a large selection of cutlery, crockery, glassware and serving dishes, as well as a range of pots, pans, casseroles and utensils to cook almost anything you want. A small library of classic cookbooks might help too. We have left reasonable amounts of tea (builder's & decaf), coffee (instant, ground & capsules), sugar and sweetener; basic cooking materials (oil, salt, pepper, herbs, spices, hot sauces, foil, clingfilm and, of course, Worcestershire sauce); washing-up liquid, cloth, scourer, tea towels, kitchen roll and cleaning materials.
Off the kitchen, and with access to the garden and street, is a corridor that houses the rubbish/ recycling bins and is great for storing muddy boots and hanging wet clothing.
Utility room in the cellar (on the lower ground floor) houses an under-counter freezer, 10kg washing machine (with some capsules), 9kg tumble dryer, ironing equipment, cleaning equipment and a third toilet. There is a washing line in the garden.
Four floors and three flights of stairs, so although ideal for groups and families, toddlers need to be supervised. Stair gates are available.
You will have exclusive access to the whole house and garden. Note that the garden is NOT dog-proof.
Hawkestone is more than 150 years old, so it has some quirky Victorian charm - creaking floorboards, doors that don't always latch perfectly, bedroom doors without locks and no double-glazing. However, there is electricity, running water and wifi.
A well-behaved dog is welcome, but we ask you to keep it on the lower-ground floor and ground floor only as we have cream carpets on the upper floors. Note that the garden is NOT dog-proof. Please let us know if your are bringing a dog.
The house key is in a lockbox (for which you will be sent the code in the days before your arrival) low to the right of the front door. Someone is always available by telephone (number in Welcome Guide) to help with any questions.
There is no parking on the property. Unrestricted, free on-street parking is available right outside the house. It can get busy on weekends and bank holidays as this is a popular area for walkers and cyclists accessing the Malvern Hills.

The street it is on is beautiful, and the front of the house is gorgeous as well. But then we all were so delighted to see how incredibly lovely and spacious this home is inside. It’s wonderfully appointed, with a great variety of original and lovely art from all over the world. The furnishings are beautiful and amazingly comfortable, And there is pretty much anything anyone would need for a luxurious stay.
The views from the view side of the home never failed to make us gasp when we got up every morning. And Sue and Kate have thought of every little thing that guest might need. The instructions are friendly and warm and easy to follow and we were so happy to do anything we could to keep this beautiful house tidy as we could. The location is just a few blocks from the main part of town, which is charming, and very close to the beautiful walking trails in the hills. My family and I hope we can arrange another stay sometime because truly we didn’t want to leave. We absolutely loved every single thing about it from curb to rooftop. It’s so beautiful and we felt so honored to share this lovely home of Sue’s.

House was so comfortable to stay in, with lots of space for large group, excellent location, close to the Malvern Hills perfect for setting off on our walks. Walking into Malvern town for the shops, cafes and restaurants was only 15 minutes away. Plenty of parking space on road outside.
We had a great time, thank you Sue.

What a fantastic property, perfect for my group of 6 friends. It is ideally located, Sue was the perfect host, always being contactable, easy to contact, and very speedy with her responses. The property itself is clean, very well stocked with kitchen utensils, and the beds were unbelievably comfortable! It was a gem of a find and made for the perfect catch-up weekend with friends.

We were 7 friends staying over the weekend.
The house is lovely and spacious. Beautiful terrace with a stunning view. Exelent location, next to the walking paths for Malvern Hills.
Plenty of parking space on the street, we arrived with 4 cars. Gets busy only in the weekend during the day.
Fully equipped kitchen including coffee, tea, biscuits, sugar, salt...
Very clean and nicely decorated. Books and board games left for the quests.
Straight forward check in if you follow the instructions from the host, Sue.
We had a great time. Thanks 😊

We could not have chosen a more perfect place to stay. The location is excellent for exploring Malvern and the surrounding areas, including walking in the Malvern Hills with walking routes starting very close to the house. The house is very spacious, extremely well-equipped and very homely and lovingly cared for. The photographs don't do it justice! Sue was the perfect host with very quick responses - would highly recommend and hope to go back for another stay in the near future.

AMAZING
If we could give more than 5* we certainly would. The house was simply perfect. Ideal location with plenty of parking on the road. Stunning terrace with fantastic views. Beautiful decor throughout. Very well equipped kitchen. Amazing bathrooms, both with fantastic views. Our only regret is wish we had booked for longer! Will definitely go again. 🙏

Lovely property
We were a group of 7 in the area for a wedding. The house is a great size in a lovely location and made for a very comfortable stay. Lovely bedrooms with very comfy beds. I have never stayed somewhere that has such a well stocked kitchen, every cooking implement and gadget you could ever need, plus more! Really good communication from Sue who even remotely took the heating off the timer for us when we found it a little too warm!

Wonderful relaxing break with the family
Simple efficient booking and excellent communication with the owner. We were a party of nine and had arrived to celebrate the matriarch’s 70th birthday. The group consisted of myself, my spouse plus three offspring, their partners and one grandson. We all enjoyed three nights in a luxurious accommodation with views to die for. During the daytime we rambled to the beacon, had an informative walk through Great Malvern and dined at the nearby Nags Head. I can thoroughly recommend this property and its stunning location. A deserved five stars for all aspects.

This is a beautiful house to spend a few days in. It is beautifully furnished with everything you could possibly need. Loads of books, CDs (music systems in most rooms) DVDs, and toys for young children. The TV has Netflix, Prime and BT sports but you won't watch it much as the views from the back of the house are amazing! Town is close by and there are walks up the hills right opposite the house. It was great for our dog's first walk of the day.
Would highly recommend this house. It's a lovely place to relax and get away from it all!
Would also recommend The Swann Inn at Hanley Swan for dinner. Lovely gastropub that's dog friendly. Always a bonus!!

Sue was amazing from the very first message. She responded promptly and was on hand for any questions prior to the stay. The property is stunning and has everything you need for a weekend/week away. The views are incredible from every floor. The area has everything you need within walking distance too. Although the listing was accurate, we were all still blown away and couldn't have asked for a better property or host. We'll definitely be back for another family trip. Thanks Sue - your home is a hidden gem!

The house is in a great position on a quiet road, affording fantastic views from the beautiful old sash windows and easy access by foot to both the Malvern Hills and Great Malvern. Everything within was very clean, warm and comfortable and it feels like a loved home. The kitchen is well supplied, the bookshelves are well stocked with an interesting range of reading and the wi-fi is quick and reliable. We were a group of friends with two children and they spent more time playing hide-and-seek than watching the telly, although that is large with many channels, and it was good for all of us to have the space to be together and apart. Sue has helpfully provided contact details and clear instructions for everything, including the shower, which is usually my downfall, although the doorknobs in our room proved a little challenging. Storm Eunice complicated the end of our holiday but we had a very enjoyable stay and would love to return to Hawkestone House.

Amazing!
Views are stunning from this house, which does have a homely feeling. Great that you can just start walking to the hills straight from the house. The terrace was lovely too! The house I felt was way to big for the four of us but it did mean we had the whole floor to ourselves, which was actually quite nice. Would recommend it for a large family or bigger group. The key was a bit fiddly to get but other than that everything was awesome.

Home away from Home
We were blown away by the homeliness of Sue's Malvern Hills property. Very generously sized it was a shame only four of us were there to enjoy it. The kitchen was very well equipped, with plenty of reading and games based activities galore. The BBQ and backyard are calling us back for Summer. We were lucky to arrive on a beautiful autumn weekend and enjoy a walk (beginning very closeby) along the Malvern Hills ridge to Ledbury - stunning scenery with a number of cute pubs along the way. The house is easily accessible from Malvern Link station and a short walk to Malvern town itself. We'll be back!

Malvern hills walking trip
The house is lovely, clean and probably the best equipped rental house we have ever stayed in. There were just four of us so we had a bathroom each which was sheer luxury. The house is literally across the road from paths up the Malvern hills so is ideally situated for walkers. We had no problem with on road parking but if you came with many cars that might pose one. We would thoroughly recommend this property.

Family break before returning to school
We had a great time in Malvern. The house was amazing, very clean and well presented. The children enjoyed having so many floors and places to hide! There were two families so having two floors of bedrooms worked really well for us.
You can go walking in the hills straight from the front door, which we did a number of times. The neighbours were also really friendly.
We would highly recommend this property and would definitely book again if we were to revisit the area.
