Parking was essential for us and it was very near to property and off road.
The room is up 3 flights but not steep. Vicky kindly helped with luggage.
Room very spacious, like an open plan flat with a separate bathroom with super walk in shower.
The very loud seagulls but that would be the same anywhere near sea!

Central location on the high street but set back so relatively quiet, very clean throughout, very comfortable bad with choice of pillows, reasonably well equipped, nice shower, and a very hospitable and responsive host
Maybe I missed it in the description, but I didn't realise it was a basement apartment. I don't think the internet was functioning during our short stay.

Could not have asked for a better stay! Vicky was an attentive host, and the facilities available definitely exceeded my expectations. I really hope to be able to return, as Montys is such a gem. 💎

It was a very central location, with a parking space which is a major advantage for Lewes. The apartment was clean and very well appointed with quirky and effective decor. The complimentary food items were fresh and good quality and very welcome. It's light and airy, the bathtub was a lovely touch.
The shutter on the window by the bathtub was awkward to close.

People considering booking one of the apartments advertised through booking.com on the Montys Accommodation website should be aware that the two units offered for rent are located on different levels of the building (one in a light airy space at the top and the other, in which we found ourselves for three nights, in a basement at the bottom). Potential customers should also be aware of the major drawbacks of the basement accommodation.
The ceilings in the basement flat are about 7’ high or, in many places, less than that. Most importantly, the bedroom is subterranean (i.e. below the level of the pavement outside) and airless. What appears in one of the photographs on the website to be a window with natural light coming into this bedroom is in fact a false window into a deep cavity below the pavement of Lewes High Street. The sole ventilation provided by this cavity consists of four air bricks with small grime-encrusted holes in them (photographs from inside and outside are attached). This bedroom seems to us an oppressive, unventilated place which is unsuitable for sleeping accommodation.
The small bathroom, which is accessed from one side of this bedroom, is also entirely subterranean and ventilated only by a small extractor fan. The shower in the bathroom has no door, curtain or ridge to prevent water from it flooding the area around the lavatory and drenching the rug outside the shower space.
The accommodation is advertised on the website as a ‘bed and breakfast’, but this is a misleading description. Tea and coffee was available in the kitchenette and in the fridge we found on our arrival small amounts of milk and orange juice and a bowl containing one helping of raspberries. This does not amount to breakfast for two people for a three-night stay.
We cannot understand how the accommodation we were allocated could earn the rating it is given on the booking.com website.

No real breakfeast. But there was some tea, coffee capsules, a few rawsberries, two cans of light beer, etc...
Everything.

The room was stylish and in a great location
The room was boiling with no air conditioning. Extremely loud externally, meaning we woke up every hour from the noise. The stairs to get into the room was so narrow you couldn’t get your suitcase up them. There was an odd placed internal window facing the bed, and the blind didn’t completely cover the window, so anyone in the building could peek at the bed. The check in process was unsafe - When we arrived the door to the room was just open, with the key on the side. This could be very dangerous if your a lone female traveler, as the house is shared with other guests. The property owner was extremely hostile, verbally attacking us via message and making false accusations making us feel very uneasy.

Lovely spacious room at the top of the house with very comfortable bed. The little kitchen with complimentary tea and coffee , yoghurt, fruit and milk was a bonus. An excellent selection of books to browse. Short walk from Riverside Brasserie for a great breakfast.
It was no problem for us but the stairs might be a bit much for the less fit. The friends who came with us had the downstairs room which had great facilities but was a bit dark.

It does not include breakfast but does provide facilities including refrigerator, kettle and nespresso machine.
The general decor was impressively stylish and the range of interesting books is amazing. Considerable thought and care has gone into the apartment's design.
Three flights of stairs (becasuse of personal disabilities) - will be my first choice next time but will book early to see if I can get the lower room.

I loved the variety of books in the apartment and the decor was lovely. The breakfast of strawberries, yogurt and home made muesli was really appreciated as was the complementary G&T! Vicky was a great host who couldn’t have been more helpful.

a lot of stairs but it was worth it.

It was a lovely welcome, very clean, deluxe, comfortable, great products, high thread count bed linen, warm, cozy and tastefully decorated. Small kitchen and private living room was ideal and the ease of being in the heart of Lewes was so convenient. Vicky was so accommodating and responsive. I highly recommend and would stay again in a heartbeat!
