Stunningly arranged and decorated, every corner felt loved. The bedding made locally from local wool was delightful, so comfortable and gave the room a soft aroma.
Judy, the owner, as well as her husband Jonathan, were the perfect hosts. Attentive and helpful, while still giving the space for privacy. So many details attended to and shared.
The breakfast is fresh and made to order with local farm eggs. And the honey is actually from their own property!
While still being able to enjoy the country side,
Lydford house is within walking distance of a the perfect English pub, The Castle Inn, as well as another restaurant and many different walkabouts and hikes.
I loved this place immensely, and look forward to my return. Simply can’t recommend this place enough!
Nothing to dislike, it was a brilliant stay.

This was our 4th visit to Lydford House and again we were not disappointed. We love Lydford House and the area, the rooms are beautifully appointed and a great breakfast is served. The owners are very friendly and welcoming so we will be back again.
It is a real shame there is no restaurant anymore but appreciate it is now open as a guest house. However there are two excellent pubs within walking distance.

Gorgeous location with really unique and homely rooms. Not to mention the staff were incredibly kind and accommodating too. One of my favourite hotel experiences in a long while and will not hesitate to visit there if I'm back in the area.

Easy to check in.
Loved the huge lounge downstairs lots of seating areas and a large log burner.
It felt like visiting a country house.
We had a four poster bed, very comfortable mattress with crisp white sheets.
Whole place was spotless.
Delicious breakfast, freshly cooked, plus cereals and pastries.
My husband particularly enjoyed the fresh honeycomb honey.
Friendly and efficient staff.
Enjoyed seeing the chickens roaming the garden.
Perfectly placed for exploring Dartmoor. We enjoyed cadaver bridge and burrator reservoir
It's not a reflection on the hotel, but I'm awaiting a knee replacement so find a shower over a bath a bit tricky to access. But my husband had no issues.

Lovely location. Very comfortable bed. Very good breakfast. Beautifully decorated residents' lounge.
Hook needed on back of bathroom door and possibly somewhere to put shower gel in the shower cubicle. (minor points)

Room was very big & bed very comfortable.
Breakfast was delicious, fresh fruit, cereals, owners own honeycomb & an extensive menu for hot home cooked food.
The location was excellent for exploring, plenty to see & do & 2 pubs/restaurants, serving great food approx 10 minutes walk away.
The owner was very welcoming & made our stay a real pleasure.

Everything was perfect except for the Wifi, but that's understandable given the location
4.7
Lovely little touches, like a phone charger and blanket if cold.
Good quality breakfast products
We did not see the proprietors at all during our stay, eerily quiet and strange to get a message of goodbye and hope you enjoyed your stay, would have much preferred the front of house approach.
Despite the house being beautiful it felt it was waiting for life to be injected back into it.
4.7
The most beautiful rooms for the guests to use. Lovely lounge with an open fire.

We arrived with Ebikes which they accommodated within a garage and a power point to recharge the batteries
We enjoyed the stay and stayed an extra night
The one down side was that we didn't realize that the on suite didn't have a stand up shower only one attached to the bath taps

This was a beautiful hotel. The decor throughout was just lovely and it felt welcoming. For breakfast there was a good choice of food available and it tasted wonderful. The service was brilliant and the young lady who served us was so polite and helpful. We had a meal at one of the local pubs - The Castle - and the food there was delicious and again very good service by all the staff we had dealings with.
Personal preference but the mattress was slightly too squashy for my liking.

The little touches at breakfast were great. We loved our stay and have even booked again. It’s truly lovely!

Lydford House is a beautiful hotel in a great location. The facilities are excellent and the arrangements for Covid were first class. Having your own personnel bottle of milk for tea and coffee in your room is a great touch, so much nicer than little cartons.

Breakfast was very good

Perfect location.
Good and clean rooms, good breakfast.
