Good location.
Check in was not a great experience ( too detailed for this review) but the problems were put right by an excellent member of staff.

Bed was comfortable room was big
Room was dusty. WiFi not strong enough to reach the room. Towels so thin.
Waited 1 hour for food. Carrots were solid green cabbage instead of red. Said crispy rind it was soft and slimy.

The accomodation and staff related to it were very good. The location was good. Breakfast good.
The hotel had function(s) on. As a result the bar and restaurant were understaffed. At times, one between both. Ordering drinks at the table slow. When requesting the kids menu only one main item on it could be provided. However a compromise pasta dish was provided. Steaks were ok but not great at over £25 a pop.

Good car parking.
Lovely receptionists and easy check in process.
Room had a comfortable bed, good shower and the window seat was a lovely bonus with a view over the golf course.
Surprised how quiet it was with the window open.
Very good buffet breakfast provided with freshly cooked replenishments arriving frequently.
Liked the towel policy from an environmental point of view.
The bedroom door didn't fully close when I left the room. Handy if you forget your key card but not so good for people or belongings left behind from a security point of view.
Could have been a little clearer on bedroom top-ups of drinks for the second night of our stay.

Staff on site were nice.
I got food poisoning, and I still had to pay for breakfast I couldn’t have. Would not refund me. Basically called me a liar.

Location, restaurant
The dripping shower throughout the night
The man that checked me was very quiet even though I said I apologise I am deaf pointing to my hearing aids
No tv control when asked reception she said I’ll have to go find one. Came back with 4 told us to try them, none of them worked took them back to reception she then said she would have to find a screwdriver to put batteries in them!

Position of hotel and plenty of good car parking space.
Had to change room on arrival because the first room had a nasty brown mark - about 25cm width - on the carpet which should have been professionally cleaned, the remote control was missing and the phone didn't work! The room had obviously not been checked.
Rooms were not serviced, the corridors needed vacuuming and dirty bedlinen was left in corridors overnight.
Guests were expected to collect clean towels from reception - OK in a hostel maybe but not in a 4 star hotel!
The hotel ineeds a good clean - tables were wiped down but windowsills, skirting... etc left dirty. Garden - pod dining tables were left uncleared overnight.
On settling the bill, I'd been overcharged and had to explain to a senior member of staff before the bill was corrected.
When I politely explained some of my concerns, as noted above, to the senior member of staff she became defensive and said, "We are doing our best!"
As a retired professional, I was taught to take complaints seriously, to thank the complainant for bring the problem to my notice and then doing my best to address the matter. It was never right to be defensive and /or blame the complainant.
I will not choose to stay at Mercure Milton Keynes again or to recommend it to my friends.

We were attending a “significant” birthday party celebration at the hotel so location was what we wanted and drinks were being served until we finally decided to go to bed.
Room clean and very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent.
Nothing.
3.0
The room was ok but though we requested rooms fairly close to each other, this was ignored and we were on separate floors.
Bed was comfortable.
First night we decided to eat at hotel. There was only 1 staff member on bar, took an age to get served, he obviously was trying to do too much on his own. 4 of us ordered together and were sitting outside, after a long wait 2 meals arrived, but no cutlery! Eventually, after at least 10 minutes the other 2 meals and cutlery only fetched when requested. The staff member looked most put out when we sent the first 2 meals back as they were now stone cold. They eventually re-appeared having obviously been reheated. One of our party tried to complain about this, we didn't receive an apology or any offer of refund. On this basis we didn't eat at the hotel again during our stay. We also witnessed other parties having silly problems with the 'restaurant'. The only explanation given was a curt 'short of staff' and those that were working were still being trained, yet there was no senior person present and that excuse shows a lack of any management. The staff were very offhand and clearly didn't have a clue about Customer service or how to do the job correctly.
Our shower control handle came off, it was obvious that it had happened previously and been bodged back together with tape, making water temperature challenging and one of the wall mounts for the shower head was broken reducing range of operation.

Didn't stay for breakfast as it was an early start for both of us.
Bed and beddings were fresh & comfy
Parking was spacious & plenty of spaces
Helpdesk when checking out in the morning looked bored & unbothered. Didn't look like they enjoyed being there at all
Please provide bigger bottles of water especially during summer time
Maybe a fridge as well just incase some of us have our own bottled water
