Location was excellent for centre of Southport.Rooms were large. We did not eat there so cannot comment on food or the bar. Also travelled by train.Short walk from station which is at the end of Meseyrail so was a low train fare
Nothing really. This hotel would have been the tops in its day

Comfortable and reasonable pricing. Very good value for meal plans in the buffet style restaurant. Very well cooked and prepared food.
Card only payment. No option to pay with cash at reception or bar. My husband had a wallet of cash that couldn’t be used on site.

Good location on the edge of the green with Lord street just one block back. Close to all amenities. Beach, fun fair, pubs, shops & restaurants
A bit dated but holds some old fashioned charm
Our room was very small but had everything you need and adequate for a short stay.

Really easy check in and friendly staff. We had to move room and we’re giving an upgrade with different options which was really good.
Had to move rooms when we returned as there was an apparent leak coming from our room. The staff said they had been trying to contact us but we had no missed calls. We only knew about the room move as we went to book breakfast for the following morning. When we did get to the room there was no signage asking us to contact reception so would have been non the wiser on the room move if we had no approached reception ourselves. Confusion on the cost of breakfast as we were initially told the cost would be £9.95 if we booked the night before but when we booked for the following day we were charged £12:50 as we needed to book breakfast on the first night. We were visiting family so were unsure of our plans so we’re a bit let down with the confusion.

Good breakfast,excellent room furniture.
Could have been told that the room had no view and windows had stained glass.

The staff ,the view the shower
The mattress could not sleep in the bed

Very comfortable lounge area and lovely, helpful staff.
The view from the bedroom window was horrible (141) and there was a fan humming all night which affected my husband's tinnitus.
The hotel is in the process of being refurbished but cigarette burns on the bedroom carpet were a surprise. It's been a long time since rooms have been non-smoking.

The room and the bed were ok. I paid for internet....it didn't work and was an utter waste of money.
The breakfast was a disgrace and a complete waste of money. The available food was different from the advertised menu.
The bathroom was spartan. The sink was blocked.

The room looked out towards the sea and the green which was very handy for walking my dog. Had booked as I was attending a family funeral. The hotel had parking in front of the hotel but had to pay for it. So no worries of having to walk far with bags and dog or going in search of parking spaces. The room was an adequate size and the bathroom was clean. However the room was a little tired and the dark furniture a little oppressive. Unfortunately, had no time to use the restaurant but it looked friendly and inviting. The outside Victorian architecture was beautiful and could imagine it in its heyday
I arrived late in the evening, having notified the Hotel of my change of arrival time. After a 5.5 hours drive, what I didn't expect was the rudeness of the evening receptionist. Nowhere on the Hotel's or Booking.com's websites did it say that payment had to be paid on arrival and before the keys are handed over. The receptionist stated this is what happens at all hotels. Having travelled extensively around the world independently, this was the first time I had been asked to pay my bill before I went up to my room. The receptionists generally were not in standardised uniform, some dressed in casual clothes. Perhaps this led to their sloppy attitude. Some slouched against a side desk and keen to continue their personal conversations. One female receptionist however was particularly helpful when we discussed about Southport.

3.4
Location and friendly staff and value for money with room ( maybe the bathroom could do with updating that’s all )
It’s wasn’t so much a dislike - we paid £49 for the room So we got value for money but the bathroom was very dated and the bath had a massive crack down the side
It wasn’t a planned stay - ww came for the day and the weather was lovely, we sat down to eat and I just browsed hotels and yours came up with a room price we couldn’t refuse
3.4
Very warm
There was work going on in the hotel drilling and hammer bangs woke us up very early, couldn’t control the heating

The first bedroom was poor . The bed was too small and the mattress was poor quality only 6 in. thick. had a bad nights sleep.
3.4
The location is really good and our view was lovely.
There wasn't anything I didn't like.

Location was great. Parking was difficult in the limited car park so we did not use our car once we arrived. No hot water for shower in the morning. Apparently boiler had broken and was fixed around lunch time. Would have been a nightmare if we had needed a shower first thing. We were going to a party in the afternoon so had a shower when boiler was fixed. We didn't eat in the restaurant so can't comment on the food.
Bedroom was lovely and large over looking the prom, but furniture was tired and net curtains were dirty. Also, apparently because of Covid our room wasn't cleaned and no more tea and coffee supplies were given.

Needs updating , no food served had to order of just eat to room , no pool we took kids with us and we’re looking forward to a swim 🙁 .. windows but leaky but had bad rain … leaks in main reception due to rain
3.4
Rooms very clean and comfortable.
No restaurant and only a small bar with limited seating available. For such a big hotel not to have all facilities open was a shame.
3.4
Although dated the hotel was very comfortable and clean. Located a few minutes from Lord St so central to shops. There was a good selection of hot or cold food for breakfast. There was a choice of around 3 dishes for the evening meal. They were well cooked and always hot. Staff were very friendly. There was a large lounge with comfortable sofas and wonderful large windows for watching the world go by.
For the price we paid there was nothing we didn't like

Nice friendly staff, decent breakfast. Lovely view of the park.
The pigeons on the roof could have been a bit quieter in the morning.

We liked everything about our stay. We did not have a single complaint about it.
