Not recommended as in need of repair/modernisation and lots of external noise until after 5am on a Saturday night.
Situated on the main road (as are a lot of the hotels we have stayed at previously) it is ideally located for staying in Southport, and is one of three Britannia hotels in the area
It was a very dated hotel, long corridors to the rooms and the noise from the bars outside kept us awake into the morning, as there was music and voices through to around 5.30am. if you are a ‘party animal’ getting in at that time that is ok, but for wanting a good night sleep we would not choose to stay here again.

Give this a miss, not even cheap and cheerful
Location was perfect.
Hotel was dirty and lots of things in disrepair, everything very dated. Staff either bored, unhappy or indifferent, hard to tell. Our room felt dark and was very warm, heating had been on and you can't open the window more than a cm without it looking as if it were going to fall out! The windowsill is made up of tiles, but we're broken, leaving half of it very sharp. The bedside wall lamps were half hanging off the wall. The duvet on the bed was about 3mm thick. Bed was not comfortable, didn't get much sleep. This was also due to where the room was situated, right next to doors that opened from stairwell, which were very busy! The bathroom was sufficient, if you wanted scalding as the sink didn't have a plugger in it so u couldn't put hot AND cold water in it to get the right temperature. The dispenser for soap etc near the shower fell off when I touched it. The door to the bathroom appeared to have been kicked in by a previous tenant. There was strong smells of cigarette smoke in the corridors coming from the rooms. Breakfast. Don't bother, undercooked sausage and overcooked bacon was the order for the day, do yourself a favour and go to one of many nearby cafes where you will get a decent breakfast for 4 quid! Plus side is its superb location for everything and a Brill live music bar up road by the side, do not expect what you see on booking.com at the hotel, no pool and no entertainment. Won't be returning.

Value for money (check all the tvs work)
The price was good and the front of house staff was very welcoming and very friendly.
The TV in my room was completely ruined so much that I wasn't able to watch it as there was far too many lines all over the screen.

Disappointed
This could be a nice big hotel if more tlc was put into it.
The room smelt of smoke, which hit us as soon as we walked in. Cigarette ash on the bathroom floor i reported it to the reception staff, who didn't seem at all bothered. The noise from the street and bars is unbearably loud all through the night. No blind or anything up in the bathroom, the toilet is positioned next to the window on full view of the street and bars. Windows dont close properly.

Happy overall
It was in the town centre, comfortable, clean, cheap, staff were friendly. Booked on the day as trains were cancelled.
They had safety windows infront of actual windows, which meant that we couldn't shut the window. This meant it was pretty loud from the outside, it really didn't bother us much but I can imagine it being a problem for others.
