Excellent location, room very comfortable, breakfast good variety and plentiful. Staff were all very pleasant and helpful especially in the breakfast room.
The heating in the bar area and restaurant could have done with being turned up, it was cold and it meant sitting in the bar for a drink after dinner was not as pleasurable as it could have been

Lovely old building. Clean and tidy, staff were very friendly and helpful. Bit worried when we turned up as there was a pop up rave by the train station but didn't hear a thing all night!
Iron in the room was old and a bit rubbish, but got what we needed out of it. A fridge would have been good in the room also.

Don't fall for the parking scam.
There's a green car park named Queen that charges 12.5£/ 24hrs. On the other side of the fence is a red car park (next to the modern brick building) which is 9£ only. There is also a car park opposite on City Road which also is cheaper.
Hotel staff, of course, will not tell you about their parking scam...

Staff extremely helpful and polite. Room quiet and comfortable, perfect temperature. Reception area beautifully decorated as was the bar and lounge.
Bed wasn’t made for our second nights stay, but only a minor mishap!

The room was more than I expected. The beds were comfortable, it was incredibly quiet and the decor was fantastic all around the hotel.
The bathroom wasn't quite to the standard as the rest of the hotel. There was mould in the wall.

The size of the room was very good, the staff were all very nice
Rooms could do with more plug sockets especially next to beds and our room there was flaking pain in ceiling above shower and mold in the shower

Breakfast was excellent and set us up for the day ahead at Chester Zoo. Location was perfect for exploring Chester. The staff were so friendly and Jessica & Eliza remembered me from my visit in April, which I thought was amazing given the amount of guests that pass through the Hotel. Liam & Matthew were very polite and friendly in the bar.

In particolare la gentilezza e la disponibilità dello staff, con speciale menzione per Edward alla reception che ha saputo risolvere taluni problemi nel modo migliore.
Alcune parti della struttura dovrebbero essere ammodernati

Modern and friendly
The room door was difficult to open from inside due to position

Shower didn’t work, sink slow to drain and extractor fan non functional

Free upgrade from classic single to double as I checked in
Comfy bed
Warm water for shower
Toiletries
There could’ve been more variety for breakfast - would’ve been nice to see more continental choices such as cold meats and cheeses
No biscuits in the room
Took me a bit of time to get used to the lights
Was under the impression breakfast was included in the room price - saying this I wasn’t too bothered about paying on top since I did get a discount on the room in the first place. Otherwise may not have been as happy
Fan in bathroom made funny noises
Heating in room wouldn’t work so was a bit cold

I ordered a med rare steak for dinner which was med-well cooked and a little dry therefore. It would have been better served with more vegetables and or sauce. I am celiac so cannot eat wheat flour.
We were quite appalled by an unpleasant odour of dirty drains. Not only was it apparent when we first arrived on the first floor but in the middle of the night in the bedroom. Your staff must know of the problem and should NOT have put us into such a nasty smelling atmosphere. I nearly came down to complain but was too tired so we had to keep the window open.

Love the building & the rooms . Lovely staff & and good carpark

The room was spacious and comfortable. It was (in the main) well serviced. We liked its proximity to the railway station. Breakfast buffet and dining room staff were excellent.
The bedside lighting was too dim for bedtime reading and having to have the main lights on for that purpose was less than satisfactory.

Near the station and an easy walk to town. Restaurants near by. Breakfast was good. The room was nice and they are renovating the hotel. It is big. There are 15/20 minute drop off zones at the front of the hotel (opposite the train station) and paid parking. Comfy communal/lounge areasb

Quite central
No one mentioned the huge refurb, builders, dust, problems with rooms, limited bar/restaurant etc - literally no one. Nothing from Booking.com or the hotel. Breakfast excellent, staff were kind and sympathetic, received 50% refund on our 2 nights. Wait a long time before visiting this hotel.
4.0
Location although Chester is quite threatening at night with lots of homeless & drunks wandering around city road
Loud shouting outside rail station @ 4.30 am swearing etc plus drunken guests allowed to wander round - few facilities at night in the bar which felt stark & unwelcoming
4.0
The style of rooms, restaurant, everything being very clean and the back garden with umbrellas and heatings was amazing. We’ve definitely had a really good time
Parking pay is quite expensive.

The hotel was soaked in traditional architecture and nods to the royal family both past and present.
The room was clean and very spacious. It was easy to locate. The added little touches were very nice, bottled water, chocolate and crisps.
Breakfast was a very pleasant experience. Lots to choose, hot and presented well.
The location was good and seemed to avoid the very central traffic. A member of staff gave good directions for walking into the centre.
The duty manager could have been more friendly on reception. He did his job but there was no added pleasantries.
I tried to adjust the air conditioning in the bedroom but wasn’t able to change the preset programme. I phoned the reception for some help but there was no answer at 10.30pm. I used the fan situated in the room.
Some better pillows would have been a bonus.

Will benefit from the refurbished underway

They are currently under renovation but that didn't really interfere with our stay. The bed was very comfortable. The shower was excellent and there was a full bath. Breakfast was excellent. They showed our luggagebon arrival (early) and on departure. This is the perfect hotel if arriving by train. 10 minute walk into Chester center
The room was in the newer wing and a long way from reception with cases

We come here every year - new refurb of public area’s FANTASTIC- - now just need to do something about outside space and dated bedrooms
The so called garden -
Needs total clean up to use safely & with comfort .
Very dirty , no joy or pleasure to be had in court yard . No lights or items on tables - even during wedding very poor. Patio area needs total deep clean / power washing . Safer steps & entrances . Totally waste of what could be a feature to enjoy during summer !

The location is great!! This is about all
The hotel under renovation and had to walk through very dark under construction parts of the property to get to my room! Doors don’t close properly and in my opinion are not fire compliant! The door has light shining through at night which lights the room up!! Over priced and wouldn’t stay again

The building itself is beautiful and steeped in history
The rooms in the annex part of the property are a far walk, small musty had black mould growing on the windows. Generally tired decor.
Requests for family with small children to have interconnecting room not met despite booking months in advance and making multiple calls to the hotel. They expect you to contact hotel reception via a what’s app number that you text. The phones in the room do not work or there isn’t one available.

the rooom was very spacious, to the point my son insisted on playing hide and seek in it. The staff were lovely and we also met Queenie the cat, which despite spending a fortune on Chester Zoo and Knowlesley Safari park i believe this was my sons favoruite part
the TV angle in the bedroom was a bit awkward it was set up to watch it from teh table and chair and not the bed

A staff member named Eddie went over and above for my husband dog and I he allowed us to have a late check in and a good upgrade and also threw in a drink as members of the best western and as always I would recommend this hotel to any one
The property is a little old and is under going renovation but disturbance was kept to a minimum and will look fantastic when completed

Spectacular breakfast well worth the money. Location excellent for train station and only a 15 min walk into the city centre
I think maybe biscuits in the room to compliment tea and coffee and a bottle of water

The room met expectations of cleanliness and comfort, the location was perfect, and the staff were very helpful and accommodating, and always had the answers I needed.
The experience will be improved when construction is complete, and the entrances and traffic patterns return to normal.
