Central location. Staff kind and helpful. Room was good except pillows much too soft for me. Wish lighting in the actual bedroom was a little better. Breakfast was good.. Very clean Hotel and plenty of seating and lounges. Have stayed before. Our room was very quiet as was the whole Hotel which was a bonus as being close to the town centre.
Lighting in our bedroom. There was no central light and plenty of side lights but bulbs not bright enough. The pillows were very soft and one of us having a neck problem not supportive enough, but again my friend said hers was fine.

Very central .
Works on the road outside my room starting every day at 7.30 am including bank holiday Monday ..very stressful the noise was unbelievable ..especially as I was coming for a rest following hospital treatment ..
Was actually moved to a quiet room on the last night .

Very convenient good location - good size room - comfy bed - nice clean bathroom - accommodation very good
Very noisy road ( not the hotel's fault) - couple of days with no tea tray replenishment & - food at breakfast not covered --no veggie sausages - so cooked option limited - esp as scrambled eggs not good - limited veggie options on dinner menu - meat free burger just a vegetable patty for nearly £20! - Potato soup starter & potato curry main

Location brilliant, one street back from High Street. Brilliant breakfast buffet.

Fantastic location for walks to the Cathedral. A nice leisurely stroll to the Great Hall. Close to shopping centre and plenty of pubs to choose from. Nice safety rail in the very modern bath and super soft towels. Good WiFi. Good air conditioning.
When walking along the corridor and seeing the knocks and chipped paint I thought, oh no I hope the room isn’t like this and it wasn’t. I’d have liked a little fridge in the room.

Good location - I’ve stayed before
Parking charges excessive - would choose a different available hotel if parking was free.

I was delighted to have a room (144) that overlooked the Cathedral especially as the mini-break was one of nostalgia - I had lived in Winchester 1969-1973 over 50 years ago. Spacious room - so easy to relax.
My only mini niggle was one breakfast there was a large group in and they did commandeer the situation somewhat - even moving my breakfast stuff while I was getting my tea... not a "roped off area"! Not the hotel's fault and not one to worry about.

Everything was perfect from checking in, using the dining room for dinner and breakfast.
Dinner package was good value. Breakfast had a wide variety.

I love the big window in the room with a view of the cathedral. Very handy for the town, its facilities and bars/ restaurants.
Buffet breakfast is fine, but no tea/ coffee or eggs made to order.

Location
The hotel is way past its best. Compared to mercure Walton Hall - it was poor. The carpets were marked. It’s all a bit neglected.

Location was fab. It is right beside the cathedral with amazing views. Close to shops. Very central. Has all the amenities. Comfortable & quiet stay.
Needs updating. Parking charge on top of hotel fee which was not clearly indicated on the website.

This hotel is interesting and quite retro - reminds me of the 1970’s/80’s … it’s right next door to the Cathedral, and close to the start of the South Downs Way (My reason for being there) pleasant staff and super breakfast (big buffet) clean rooms. Ok value for money …
Nothing bad but it’s obviously a little tired in places, in need of a general facelift.

Staff were really lovely and helpful. Great location.
The hotel is in need of refurbishment. Our bathroom smelt musty and everything looked tired.

Good location in Winchester city centre
Too expensive, room, menu. Ended up eating out for £8. Charged £15 for parking. These hotel chains try to squeeze as much out of you as they can

The Selection of bread was poor quality . Storage flask for coffee and hot water was lukewarm. Service was good
Bought a ploughman’s lunch buttie. It was revolting it was not made with butter (that’s what butty means ) there was no gammon but ham in it . Horrible poor quality bread . Fridge didn’t work in the room .only found out we had to pay for parking when we got there

Nothing. The is nothing good to say. From first greeting on arrival, I could tell the staff did not care about my stay.
The room was filthy, with rubbish behind the furniture. The carpet is threadbare. The kettle was filthy, with black growth inside. The furniture was stained and torn and looked like it had been rescued from a skip. The mattress was old and worn out. The bathroom was filthy and just needed a good deep clean. I would question if the room had actually been serviced prior to my stay.

Pleasant staff, good breakfast. Comfortable bed. Car park had adequate spaces. I think some people had not realised there are two sections to the car park. Would use this hotel again.
Taps wrong way round and not marked. Filled glass and kettle with hot water without realising till washing! Basin cracked but receptionist insists this will be fixed now i have brought it to their attention.

The location
The fact the car park is part of the hotel and it was £15 per night per vehicle

It was very convenient for the city centre. The decor was very dated but the room was comfortable and the extra large bed gave us a great nights sleep. All the staff were friendly and we were able to get into our room before 3pm as it was ready
It is overdue a facelift- the decor is rather dark and dated but this didn’t affect the overall enjoyment of our stay

Room : Comfy bed, good air conditioning, modern TV, great to have a fridge.
Breakfast : excellent, plenty of choice.
Location : perfect for the City .
Our Cathedral view was blocked by a Lime Tree.
Room needs updating, we did notice new carpet being put down in rooms on our floor that is a good sign.

The breakfast was not worthy of 4 stars but ok
Bedside lights didn’t work no proper shower no air on tea tray pedestrian

The staff were extremely helpful. The location was excellent. the size of the room and facilities available. Public spaces were good.
The fittings are old fashioned. and in poor condition. The seat cushions in my friend's room were badly stained. The room was very dark with no central lighting and an out of order side light.
The worse thing was the limescale around the bath which was why I marked down for cleanliness.
It is such a shame and Mercure should prioritise refurbishment or will use custom. Unfortunately they have lost out on a planned return to Winchester.

Great staff and great location.
The carpet in the bedrooms was threadbare in places and the bedrooms needed updating. Not like other Accor hotels we have stayed at.
