Comfy bed
The owner. Strange woman. Everything has to be done her way. I didn't know I had to fill out a breakfast form every day of my stay and she refused to serve me breakfast because I hadn't filled out the form. The 'help yourself' breakfast was disappointing. Cereals and a few bits of sad looking fruit, the milk was sour as the fridge had not been on. Jams are the cheap sugary rubbish from the 80s. Sachets of ketchup and brown sauce the same. I said I don't need a room clean and that was taken to also mean I don't want replenished tea & biscuits. Nobody around to ask for that. It's places like this that push me to take a Travellodge.

The house is beautiful in a wonderful location. Adele was fabulous and provided everything we could need. Breakfast was very good. I requested a room with a bath as we were walking Hadrians wall, the bathroom was spacious and bath very much appreciated, thank you :0)

I liked the fact that the host had parking permits on hand and even asked if I required one before I had the chance to ask him, myself. The breakfasts were fantastic, as was the coffee, you shall certainly not go hungry. Our two hosts were very attentive and welcoming and the room we stayed in was very cosy, clean and well catered in all aspects.
Bumping my head off a beam on the top floor room's, coombed ceiling on more than one occasion. But, that was my own fault for being Dozy. It's not like the room attacked me.

The B&B was a short walk into Carlisle centre. We were able to park close by with a parking permit during our stay. The host, Adele was absolutely brilliant! She made us very welcome. She went out of her way in making sure we had everything we needed to make our stay pleasant. The room was small but very clean and furnished to a high standard. The breakfast was excellent. Plenty to choose from. Cereals, fresh fruit, yoghurt, cooked breakfast, toast etc. Would definitely stay there again and recommend to anyone visiting Carlisle. Thank you Adele. Terry and June x

Adele was friendly and helpful. Our bedroom was very comfortable and quiet, and I loved all the stag decor in the dining room.

Everything was fabulous and above expectations. The host had added little extra touches in the room that made a difference and she went out of her way to ensure we had everything we needed. A great location, only a ten minute walk into the city centre. Substantial breakfast available. Cereal, yoghurts, toast and coffee facilities as well as a full English breakfast.
A little cramped In the breakfast cereal and coffee facility area. This would be an issue if there were more visitors, fortunately for us, there weren’t many in the breakfast room at the same time as us.

Everything was perfect. We stayed two nights.
The hostess was very warm and welcoming.
The property is quiet, genteel and ideally located within easy walking distance of the centre and the period decor was tasteful, flawless and spotlessly clean and showed no signs of wear. The work which must go into it does not bear thinking about. Notwithstanding that this was a built-up residential area, convenient overnight on-street residential parking was provided close by. There was a wide choice for breakfast: deliciously cooked options included kippers and smoked salmon with scrambled egg. Cornerways is one of the best guest houses - perhaps the best - in which I have ever stayed.
On the first night, I was unable to work out how to make the water hot in the shower of the shared bathroom on ghe landing (of which I had sole use): I was unable to find the owner who was probably preoccupied in the private area of the house preparing breakfasts; luckily, I was able to use the shower in my travelling companion's en suite: probably my fault - did I miss a switch somewhere or not wait long enough for the water to warm up? Perhaps some written instructions might help? On the second night, 10 days later, I was in a superior single room with en suite and had no problem with the shower.
Some guests might object to having to have breakfast at a particular time on a preallocated "first come first served" basis but it worked fine for us and I have no reason to suppose the owner would not be flexible if need be.

Breakfast was included, room was clean, quiet, and comfortable. Bathroom was good. WiFi was good.
My wife and I both found the host to be bizzare and she made us very uncomfortable. This honestly surprised us after reading other reviews.
