Bed was relatively comfortable and bathroom was adequate. Room itself was spacious. Breakfast was decent. Location top notch. Good parking facilities.
Original family room booking cancelled by Hotel as electrics faulty, switched to double room. Curtain falling down - had to try and fix it myself.
1.0 / 10.0
Nothing (the staff member was kind and felt bad at how shocking my bad our room was)
The room was dirty and had broken and dangerous items in it. Absolutely shocking that someone could think it was ok to charge someone to stay in a room like this

Breakfast was excellent and good quality. Location was good for town center and the free car park was a bonus.
Window couldn't open very far so room was stuffy due to the hot weather. Would have liked more ventilation
8.0 / 10.0
The location was very good with many pubs and restaurants in the area. The hotel was less than 5 minutes from the main railway station.
No complaints.

Location good. Parking good. Breakfast good
Room was little more than a broom cupboard. So small wash basin not fitted in shower room. Bed very small. TV mounted too high up the wall, viewing uncomfortable. Need at least one double socket by bedside table. Existing single had to be unplugged to charge phone overnight. Shower cubicle too small. Window glazing needs major improvement to quieten the excessive noise (up to 2am) from across the road.

A quiet room away from Botchergate was requested and allocated. Room was indeed quiet and the party atmosphere of Carlisle on a Saturday night wasn't heard at all. The free hotel car park at the rear of the property is always very welcome.
The view from the window was looking across into other rooms in the hotel and the area below in serious need of tending the weeds but hey ho, it was quiet :-) The bathroom was ok but maybe in need of a little care and maintenance.

Room was a decent size.
Bed was okay.
The bathroom was a little too small - didn’t like the toilet and shower being next to one another.

Excellent location, nice staff, nice rooms
Some decor a little dated but overall excellent

Originally, the price
First small room had floor board creaking and smelt like it had been used by smokers, ended up with itchy eyes and clothes tinged with smoke in the time I spent in it, asked to change rooms within half hour, the second room was large and nicer, but at 2222 loud music started up (on a Sunday night!). Ended up cancelling the booking and headed down to the Ibis as really couldn’t trust the music would stop thumping through the walls.
Not heard back about a refund as yet as tbh it’s poor, the staff were ok though.

Ideal location regarding Carlisle station, 50 yards away. Chippy next door. Wetherspoons just down the road. Heaven.
No suggestions.

Parking was free and the girl on reception this morning was great though simply embarrassed of the facilities. She must get regular complaints
Filthy room, corridors smell, dog barking all night in room opposite
10pm fire alarm went off, I got out of bed and tried ringing down ( no answer) walked down to reception Past what I can only describe as lots of residents out on the corridor who looked homeless with dogs and the smell of cannabis in the corridors. One young girl said its alright love, its a false alarm. This left me slightly nervous to go back to sleep.
I managed to drift off around 3am to be woken by car horns outside and rap music from below.
I stayed here hoping to get a good night sleep as I had a business meeting to drive to in Dundee the following way, so little half way stop before my next leg of the journey.
I wokken have to barely no sleep and went down to reception
The girl on the desk apologised for the alarm.
I did say it's unacceptable how guests wasn't asked to leave rooms or alerted it was a false alarm.
She again apologised and said there was only one person on last night and too busy in the hotel.
I almost felt sorry for her as appears she possibly gets hit with the regular complains.
I've left itching today especially after reading the reviewd on trip advisor
Maybe OK for a young person who out on the drink for a night out, though not if your away on business and definitely not a couple break.

its centrally located
I must have missed out on the 'friendly staff' who have been reviewed by others. The one I had obviously thought I was making it up when I said I wanted another room because the bed linen was covered in yellow stains. The second room (keys provided through gritted teeth) was OK.

Clean spacious rooms.
Only downside was the noise from the bars. That was my own fault for not checking location as that road is known for party life on a Friday and Saturday, imagine mid week it would be a lot quieter. Hotel staff gave earplugs so slept fine.

The staff, all friendly, and helpful. Location is superb for central Carlisle. Buffet breakfast is very good too.
The decor and rooms are tired. This was once a grand hotel, its been allowed to degrade to a budget one. Its acceptable but no more. You need too, to be aware that Botchergate is closed to cars on weekend evenings, to park you need to know to drive to Mary Street for the hotels car park. Thanks to the lad on reception for his help!

Our room had an internal panel missing from the window which let a lot of cold air in, but as soon as I reported this we were given a different room.
Needs updated. Lots of marks on the carpet, which could be cleaned during quiet times.

Close to the town centre
Small room. Old fashioned decor and bathroom. Smelt like an old greasy chip pan.

ROOM WAS OK , LOCATION PERFECT, A BED IS A BED SO ALL WAS OK
CANNY CARPET AND PLENTY OF LIGHT COMING THROUGH THE WINDOW - I HAVE STAYED HERE BEFORE SO I KNEW WHAT TO EXPECT - NICE KIT KATS AND BOTTLE OF WATER .
THE WINDOW RATTLED IN THE WIND ALL NIGHT SO I STUCK A BIT CARDBOARD BETWEEN THE TWO FRAMES WHICH DID THE TRICK - NEEDS LOOKED AT BY MAINTENANCE TO STOP THE RATTLE AND TO PLEASE FUTURE GUESTS - THATS ALL

The staff were extremely helpful and friendly.
We were upgraded to a bigger room.
Unfortunately we had a room on the first floor at the front of the property overlooking Botchergate. Ie party central! It was unbelievably noisy. Unless you like drunk ladies singing Proud Mary at full volume outside your window at 4am, this is not the hotel for you.

Great location for hitting up the local watering holes, I always target a 50 pint weekend when I’m Carlisle so it’s of paramount importance that the hotel is close by the pub! This hotel ticks all the boxes staff were tremendously helpful at helping me up the stairs at 3am thanks guys. Look forward to returning in December

The location. The bathroom has been renovated
The window cannot be closed and the mattress is so soft. The furniture is outdated

The room was fine, as was the hotel in general. However.... the location right in the town centre looks good on paper but blimey, is the area noisy! My room overlooked the car park and was right next to the air conditioning unit of a local fast food take away. This ran until 3am pumping out the smell of fried food. Now normally, its okay, you can shut the window but sadly, the bathroom window did not close fully meaning that the room smelt all night. Not nice.
And then, the hotel seemed to attract drunken louts like the three women who came back to their room at 1am and then spent the next hour or so getting more and more drunk.
Overall, its a three star hotel, so don't expect too much. If you are looking for a place right in the town centre which is cheap, then this is the place for you. If you want a good nights sleep etc, then you may not get it here, based on my experience.
The fried food shop next door which was open until 3pm. The drunks.
